the spender systems. in some cases, the fenders are completely different foundations, not even connected to the bridge. and in other cases, they've been designed to almost work like bumpers and crumble before the ship actually strikes the bridge. caltrans says it's more likely the xbridge vendors will damage the ship. >> as opposed to the other way around the next line of protection is making sure those navigating bay-area waters know where they're going before you even come into the bay bar. pilots board large ships and these are these are pilots that have been trained specifically to drive ships into the different ports and navigate the bay along with that tugs are come. tugboats also accompany large ships. now caltrans admits you can't plan for everything and that's why emergency services are also part of the response plan once the ship declares trouble near a bridge caltrans which shut down the toll plaza at the golden gate division of the chp would go right into operation and closed the freeway. so you would have access to the bridge. but

5:12 pm
because i won the cold to be a champion. there's a growing number of millennials and gen z americans who lost faith in their future and lost their pride in our country. many in her generation have stopped believing that older people have been running are coming for so long. understand or represent their interest. >> but there is another equally critical reason for kennedy's choice. shanahan does share his enthusiasm. his passion for fighting for a cleaner environment. clean water, help their food to fewer pesticides and chemicals that along with his skepticism of public health authorities and vaccines are low. i don't think anybody use the word vaccine today. shanahan has a young daughter who has been diagnosed with autism. >> conditions like autism used to be one in 10,000. now here
5:13 pm
in the state of california, it is one in 22. one in 20 to children affected. allergies, obesity, anxiety, depression, our children are not well. our people are not well and our country will not be well for very much longer. if we don't heed this desperate call for attention. i've spoken to senators. i've spoken to governors. they all know something is wrong, but none of them take any action. >> there's only one candidate i have met for a president who takes the chronic disease epidemic seriously. does robert f kennedy junior and >> i will be his ally and making nation healthy again. >> so you'll probably hear a lot about the u.s. being a nation of chronic disease on the campaign trail. one of the major themes kennedy has established shanahan was formally married to google co-founder sergey brin. she's got a record of donating to democrats. she reaffirmed today she has left the

5:20 pm

live look outside at the golden gate bridge. really beautiful. but you can see there some winds going on. the american flags really within over there. >> they have breezy out there, the previous story saratoga mention upcoming rain. lawrence is here to let us know what's going yeah. it looks like a chance for rain returning to the day tomorrow, mainly just some scattered showers. i think during the daytime hours and then we get into the rain event probably tomorrow evening in tomorrow night, but a much more significant storm headed our way. i think as we get into friday, that one could dump a whole lot of rain in the santa cruz mountains and the saratoga area certainly could cause more issues out there out of the beach right now. not bad, although it is breezy and that some sunshine peaking between some of the clouds out there. a couple folks out there for a walk out there on the beach right now. why not? it's a afternoon out there along the coastline. >> we are seeing a mostly clear skies right now that sea breeze continues to blow outside. but a bigger storm on the horizon. this one not going to be much of one. it's going open up the door for the next one right behind you see

5:24 pm
that may be near the end of the rain season. i'm starting to see some big changes in the long range forecast. so if we get through these couple we might be doing okay. it's about that time of year. yeah. getting things and down. getting the april. yeah, the quiet down a bit. so we'll see. springtime. thank you, lauren. welcome. >> tonight is the mega millions jackpot drawing worth 1.1 billion dollars. mega millions prize is the 5th largest in the game's history. the cash payout would be more than half a billion last night. no one had all the numbers to claim powerball's 800 million dollar jackpot. that means tomorrow's drawing will be an estimated 865 million dollars on that one. >> coming up nearly 2 years after the supreme court overturned roe v wade arguments around abortion access returned to the nation's highest court. hey, it's billion dollars in unclaimed tax refunds. when
