well inland. now that is comparison by yesterday. few degrees cooler little bit more so up in the north bay than we were about 24 hours ago in keep the sunshine flowing all day today again, except some bay clouds, mostly sunny. well inland as we expect temperatures to return to around 70 again, some rain coming. have more on that forecast a bit our rain as a traffic jam. purina. alright. day they were start checking our bridges. things are looking good this morning. no accidents. major delays are hazards. >> 12 minute ride traveling into the city. the meter lights are on san mateo bridge just short of 13 81 on one. it was december fell bridge around 7 minutes. golden gate bridge just short of 20. and let's check on those highways. we had some issues yesterday traveling alone this morning. no major issues. 14 minutes 80. you're also in the clear as well. reason is back thanks. a lot rain and on the developing story that we're covering. police are looking for a gunman. >> who killed one man and another was injured. it was a shooting that happened in pleasant hill. there was yet crawford's will trend live for

us there with the very latest on the investigation. will what happened? >> at this particular point, no arrests in the case for the shooter or shooters. i can tell you it happened right here in this neighborhood. let's get right to the video. pleasant hill is extremely peaceful. this is a rare occurrence in iraq to people in this particular community. this is off a twin bridge circle and long, brooke, way shortly before noon, so many people were inside their apartments when all of a sudden shots rang out. when they came out, they saw 2 men lying on the ground. they called the paramedics. they came out here, rushed him to the hospital. but we have learned that a 67 year-old man died from his injuries and another person fighting for his life. and by the time the police officers got here, the shooter or shooters were long gone. we've got a chance to talk to witnesses. here's what they had to say about the violence just outside their door.

>> allison and here's some what i what was like. firecrackers sounds like a like a like a small really all a shoppers at a lake and pleasant, though. when do we expect that until i heard very loud cars kind of drive last also, carly and i like, ok, something's something went down. there are some yelling. >> the pleasant hill police department, which makes this a little bit for people in the community that pleasant hill police department. they have not released a motive in this case, whether it was random or targeted. of course, random makes it a little fearful for people anybody could possibly be shot. i can tell you the pleasant hill police officers, they will be back in this community a little bit later today. they will go around looking for surveillance cameras. we believe that there are cameras in this neighborhood. and of course, they will look for the footage to try to get a description of

the people behind this. >> back to you. all right. thanks a lot for the update. will okay. 603. with another big story that we're following to a health warning now for some people in the east bay after someone tested positive for measles ad is for anybody who was at a restaurant called sons of liberty alehouse in san leandro. they think that's where it came from. kron 4 sarah stinson has more. >> alameda county health officials put this warning out to anyone who went 2 sons of liberty alehouse on march 9th between a specific time frame saying you need to watch out for symptoms which can appear a week up to 21 days later, the health department says this warnings for people who went to this restaurant in san leandro on that saturday between 4.45 in the afternoon and 7, 30 at night. >> symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose. red eyes and a rash that can last up to week. measles can spread when infected person breathes coughs or sneezes. since it

does take time for symptoms to appear, people could start to feel them anytime between the 16th to the 30th of this month. measles can be very contagious, according to the health department, one person infected with measles can infect 9 out of 10 unvaccinated people in close contact. the health department says to contact them and a doctor if you are at the restaurant during that time frame and especially if your child was exposed, if you're not vaccinated or if you're a health care or child care worker. i spoke with the owner of sons of liberty alehouse. he says the health department notified him in the afternoon before they put the alert out to the public. he says they were not able to provide proof that this person infected with measles. >> was in fact, a customer of his restaurant. he says they could not even provide a receipt from that march 9th day. now the health department did put out in their alert about this possible exposure. a reminder for all to get

vaccinated for the measles. i'm sara stinson reporting in san leandro. back to you. >> in 605, in the east bay. the regional park district is reporting an uptick in toxic plein green blue algae bloom. t ere are various parks where they've seen this and tested the conditions. >> there have low water levels which adds to it limited water circulation can be a problem. increased temperature and light. >> these can all cause blue green algae to form and bloom and release their toxins. the algae blooms should not impact local drinking water plants and they test those regularly to make sure that the algae blooms are not impacting drinking water from the reservoir. the danger advisory is posted for query lakes, corey lakes delve al and shadow cliffs. >> some more developing news now. possible freeway shooting shutting down all westbound lanes of interstate 80 in the east bay last night. the chp says the victim took themselves to the hospital

with a non-life-threatening injury. the incident happened at mcbride avenue in san pablo. and we're going to keep following this story and bring you more information as we get it. meanwhile, in the south bay, at least one person is dead after a car struck a pedestrian on highway 101. it happened at about 09:00pm last night. that road between oakland road off-ramp and mckee ramps were closed for a few hours, but they have since reopened. >> time now 606, police in san francisco are investigating 5 stabbings. that happened over a span of 8 days. the latest stabbing was yesterday morning in the mission district at 20th street and south van avenue. a woman was stabbed multiple times and now she has life-threatening injuries. then there were 2 other stabbings that happened in the mission one sunday in the lower 9 hill neighborhood and a stabbing march 13th in the outer mission. a person was arrested for killing a victim in that stabbing. police are still looking 4 suspects for the 4 other stabbings.

attorney general rob bonta's office has responded now to claims made by supporters of alameda county district attorney pamela price. the da's protect the wind campaign claims that bond is office never responded to their request for an investigation into the recall effort against price. however, bonta's office says they did respond. they sent us a letter dated march 6 where the office informed prices campaign, any allegations of unlawful signature gathering tactics should be directed to the secretary of state who serves as the state's chief elections officer, a spokesperson for price as that. this is the first time they've ever seen a letter. meantime, the alameda county registrar of voters is hand counting the tens of thousands of signatures to make sure that there are enough to validate that recall election happening. well, san francisco's board of supervisors has approved a program to help homeless

individuals return to their hometowns. they say that this program will help the homeless crisis in the city. kron four's. michael thomas is live in the newsroom. >> with how it's going to work. michael? >> hey, good morning, everyone. this new ordinance essentially could help those who are struggling with homelessness or living in a shelter, get back to their hometown rather than struggling here on the streets of san francisco. but the big question is, do they want to go home? and if they didn't want to go home, what they've done so already. so we did chat with people this morning. i'll tell you about that in just a second. but in the meantime, we've got video up on your screens. i can break down ordinance of exactly what it all is now. it was initiated back in 2005 by governor gavin newsom when he served as the city's mayor in the program provides homeless individuals in both the city and county of san francisco with travel and relocation assistance. having an end goal of cleaning the san francisco streets and allowing those unhoused people the chance to go back home and reunite with their family. that supervisor ahsha safa. the one who reintroduce this ordinance and says in recent years the

program only assisted a few 100 people a years ago. it assisted around 11,000 people, which is why he proposed to bring changes back and that the system get that, you know, right now when they people only cost around to homelessness live within the state now has the details of how or when will begin to implement and use resources. >> well, to their hometowns, well. >> that's still unknown. but back out here live, i did chat with 2 people this morning who are experiencing homelessness and their overall pot yes, it is a good idea that they have that option, but they also bring understanding of, you know, some people have really bad home lives and that's why they left their home in the first place. brings back a lot of ptsd and those type of another thing they brought up was also that if they wanted to go home, their programs with nonprofits help them. so you'll hear from them during the 7 o'clock hour. but that's

the very latest de france. time i thought i must are them to back to you. >> it is 6.10, and the dublin school district has reached a tentative agreement with the teachers association which they believe now avoids a strike. the agreement includes a 6% salary increase for teachers starting this school year and the starting next year. they'll also be additional prep time given to elementary school teachers. >> its 6.10, and still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, oakland city leaders approve a plan to get abandoned cars off the streets. will take a look at what they want to do. and uc berkeley is now on the list of colleges being investigated for how they handle anti-semitism. plus, after the break, a state bill that aims to hold california universities and colleges responsible for hazing. >> and in your forecast for today, check it out. lots of sunshine, getting those temperatures in the upper 60's inland. however, there's still rain on the rise and we'll be talking about that right all right, before you the roads this morning, not seen any

>> it is 6.13, in here for things know. oakland city council approves a plan to remove abandoned cars from the streets. this two-year program focuses on identifying and getting rid of these cars increase money and staff to sweep the streets to do this. and it allows tow yards to be repurpose caltrans lots. they're going to use under freeway overpasses so that there's place to put up. we're learning new details about a japan-bound united flight. it was forced to return to sfo.

short sleeves. still, i guess you keep it up. yeah, james and ari, good morning. good morning, everybody. that looks like ok for about a day or so, although we're still looking some rain to come back again on friday. >> there's a sneak peek there. what's going on the east bay shoreline? not bad a little hayes near the surface. just a touch here, but don't have a whole lot the way they clouds today. some high level clouds to make note of maybe this afternoon up tomorrow we probably will have some more of those fog clouds a little bit hanging around the bay and the coast. and then everybody getting treated to some of that rain. let's go to future cast for i'm talking about pretty sweet today. lot of sunshine again. some coastal clouds to start. then we start to get into overnight into thursday. little bit more the way some cloud cover some fog clouds they clear out for the inland areas pretty quickly. but even by noon and shortly afterwards, store around the bay hanging around the touch and then friday, things get interesting now at first light, just a cloud story. but then upstream by the afternoon, we'll get some rain in here. temperature for you. we're at 50 going on for antioch. still the 40's for tri valley. 51 oakland, 54 for

hayward. 50 san francisco, half moon bay coming at 46 along with the north bay. so today, tomorrow they clouds pretty much sunny inland. you can expect highs near about 70 inland 60's for the bay friday. things change. that's where the rain gets here. most likely in the afternoon and the evening. that's going to linger for your saturday. looks like but by sunday we'll call that rain kind of scattered showers and maybe some breaks happening in the skies. a touch as well. there's still more to be had next week. we'll get into that. the longer range forecast scattered clouds, san francisco, maybe early clouds for oakland. 64 72. meanwhile for san jose bay area traffic rain. what's going on now? alright. well, if you are traveling along in the east bay right now, not seen any accidents there. >> things are a little slower. 24 minute ride clocking out towards the maze at this hour. things start to build just pass richmond. it's a little slow until you hit oakland this morning. they right now 14 minute ride meter lights are on. so at 8, even a little slow. and then once you get to the maze, things are a little slow traveling into the city. 14 minutes 80 to 101 san mateo bridge still looking good getting on and off 101 of the

south bay 30 minutes along the peninsula. 85 middle part. we're looking good. 2, 82. 37 am not seen major issues over the east bay san leandro to 37 at about 30 minutes. there are reasons back to you. thank you. reyna 6.17, in congress is now asking uc berkeley to hand over. >> a big bunch of documents. are looking at the investigation into antisemitism at colleges all across the country. yeah, it's been an so for more on this kron four's, catherine heenan takes a closer look. >> well, a formal request account for documents came from the house education committee. the university now has until april second, 2, a comply or to appeal for more time. >> congress wants to find out everything it can about how uc berkeley response to incidents of reported anti-semitism or examples of situations jewish students say they do not feel safe.

>> this was scene last protesters disrupted an event where a former member of the israel defense forces was set to speak. protesters broke through doors to students say they were assault. that congressional committee is not just talking to uc berkeley. it is now on a list that includes harvard, columbia and mit. >> and they're serving subpoenas. ducas take comes for documents on universities all over the united states and asking various universities to turn over anything and everything regarding any sort and activities to look at our universities, engaging in anti-semitism in 2024. when the university administration doesn't force policy that results in a hostile unsafe island campus ridges. >> the house education committee says there are what it calls grave concerns about

the in adequacy of the uc berkeley response to anti-semitism and referred to a failure to protect jewish students. and if that's what the investigation shows, that's awful. >> i mean, that's terrible. that any student wouldn't be protected by virtue of their religious affiliation. whether you're catholic or baptist or hindu or buddhist or muslim, that's america. >> uc berkeley says in a statement it is committed to confronting antisemitism and plans to release a comprehensive report on the committee's questions. >> well, a bill seeking to hold california universities accountable for hazing is now one step closer to becoming law assembly bill. 21 93 also known as tyler's law and after tyler hilliard, who passed away back in 2018 after his uc riverside fraternity hazed him. well, his family says

that the fraternity forced him to run up the mountain where he collapsed later dying in hospital. tyler's mother. you should kimball hiller, it says are was at the capitol on tuesday giving emotional testimony in front of an assembly judiciary committee encouraging them to pass the bill. the legislation seeks to hold public and private colleges civilly liable for hazing if the institution is found to have direct involvement or knew or should have known about the hazing or failed to take reasonable steps to prevent it. >> is still occurring in our schools we just don't want another family to go through the pain of losing a child to hazing. it's it's senseless and preventable. this bill will make a difference. i believe it will to hold those responsible accountable. >> not everybody, though, is in support of the legislation, at least in its current form,

east csu system and the association of independent california colleges and universities supports the with the bills trying to do. but they say they want to see stronger legal protections for their institutions. >> and to continue working in partnership with the authors office to find language that would be agreeable and come to the middle. at which time we will be very glad to remove all opposition. >> even so the assembly judiciary committee overwhelmingly voted in favor of the bill. the governor vetoed a similar bill last year, though, arguing it was just too broad. but this year, the author says it is much more specific and clear. it now goes to the assembly. education committee will tell you what happens there. >> 6.21 and coming up on the kron 4 morning news license plate reader notifications lead to the discovery of some stolen vehicles will take a look at the operation going on in the east bay.

>> and we're back at 6.24. in the east bay, the pleasanton woman who police say was killed by her ex-boyfriend has been identified and a gofundme page has been set up now for jasmine, monique delmar pleasanton. police say they found omar dead in her home back on march, 7th police say her ex-boyfriend broke into the house and the 2 had an argument. the man then shot them are several times that led to a police chase along 5, 8, in san leandro where the man later died after authorities say he shot himself. >> time now 6.25, efforts are being stepped up now to clear out death row inmates from a

san quentin, the california department of corrections says that there are 457 remaining death row inmates that are going to be sent to about 2 dozen other state prisons by this summer. they'll be put into the general population and have access their to more rehab programs and treatment services. governor newsom wants san quentin to become a facility that focuses more on rehabilitation, education and job training. time now, 6, 25 one person is in custody after leading police on e multi county chase. after there was a robbery after there was a robbery at a macy's store in marin county. hold on one second. we're going to go to that story. hold on one second to know. we're not going go to that here in a little bit. yeah, let's go to the east bay, though, where license plate readers have led to the recovery of 3 stolen vehicles. >> in alameda in the city of alameda, thanks license plate readers and store security cameras. the first incident happened at a target to license plate reader alerted police who then looked at

security footage to identify the suspect and arrest them. police do the same thing to recover the second vehicle at kohl's and then a 3rd walgreens. ehe alameda police department on facebook had a lot of praise for the partnership with retail stores and the technology behind those license plate readers saying, quote, the successful recoveries of stolen vehicles highlight the importance of community collaboration and demonstrate how technology can be an asset to resolving cases. we'd like to extend a huge thanks to walgreens, kohl's and targets loss prevention teams and quote. 6.26. that i'm coming up next on the kron. 4 morning news. thieves used a truck to smash into an east bay business. we'll tell you how. >> this crime ended in a deadly crash on 5.80.

big story that we've been following out of san francisco where we now know the names of the 3 family members killed by a speeding suv while they were waiting at a bus stop the parents and child who died. one year-old joaquin ramos, pinto de oliveira. >> and his parents, 40 year-old diego. and 38 year-old matilda. they were all killed at that intersection, the lone survivor, their 3 month-old infant son who is still in the hospital with life-threatening injury. tragic story. formal charges from the district attorney's office are still pending for the driver who crashed into them kron four's. dan kerman with the story. >> the 78 year-old woman who police say ran her car into a san francisco bus. stop saturday, killing 3 members of a family and injuring a 4th remains hospitalized. mary fong lau has been arrested for vehicular manslaughter, but the district attorney is still gathering information she will use to determine whether or not to file criminal charges. certainly tragic. >> but the big question is now wasn't criminal or not.

>> criminal defense attorney michael cardoza says if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol that could lead to a criminal charge of involuntary manslaughter. know a lot of people think, oh, i'm just taking my medications for stride. but the doctor, for example, norco somebody takes in norco i could write my doctor prescribed it. now you can. that's against the law. the law doesn't care whether it's a prescription drug or an illegal drug. if you're under the influence. on the other hand, if there are mechanical problems with the car that might suggest an accident and no criminal charge if the driver confused the gas pedal with the break. >> the determination is a bit murkier. >> that land sir wings more toward. >> and accident. but then the da is going to look and say, wait a minute, have you been in prior accidents? have you been warned about this? you you have tickets and your

history. we're sampling something similar happens. so that's why i say this case needs a full vetting by the district attorneys office. but it simply she panicked because the car, for example, lurch that it's an accident. >> tuesday allows attorney released a statement saying mister loughner family joined the community in mourning the tragic loss of life that occurred in west portal over the weekend. allows been fully cooperating with investigators and will continue to do so. >> well, that was dan kerman reporting. the suspect remains hospitalized at this time. once she is released, he'll be processed at the county jail. a charging decision could come within the first 48 hours or sometime after. so we'll keep you updated as 6.33. and the sfmta board of directors presented 33 recommended locations for speed cameras. >> to be installed around san francisco. they're looking to install these cameras in school zones and some other areas where they've been sideshows. mayor london breed

says the cameras are going help combat crime. >> people. >> who might want to steal cars, car break-ins sideshows, all of these things, the ability to have these cameras and to pull up, for example, red corvette and to look up to see where all the red corvettes were, the time, the date, the license plate to be able to use that information if necessary, to combat some of the problems that we're having in san francisco. it's going to be extraordinary. so i'm looking forward to it. >> and we're actually showing bay bridge video there and license plate evade are things that kind of flip. so you can't tell what the car is or who is registered to but anyway, these are the cameras. are there going to be putting up the san francisco bicycle coalition is? i'm hopeful to that. the cameras will reduce speeds. people drive at a pace and maybe see want to save some lives. >> well, in east bay, the oakland city council has approved a plan to remove

abandoned cars off of city streets. it's a two-year program that will focus on identifying and removing those vehicles, increased funds and also to to staff and a sweep the streets and then also creek tow yards by repurposing caltrans vacant. lots beneath freeway overpasses and turning them into these tow yards. we spoke with the founder of the grassroots organization called community ready corps. they are regularly deployed out to the streets to clean up illegal dumping sites. >> everything else. we need creative solutions. it's my understanding right now there's one tow company and one told your and that won't hold company from what i've been told by certain folks is that is not responsive is is not doing a great job. >> well, last year, mayor sheng thao started. the city are stated that the city was seeing an improvement in abandoned auto abatement after transferring the program from police to the department of transportation. in the south bay. a man is dead after a standoff with police in campbell. it happened

yesterday morning. officers say a woman texted police about a domestic violence incident and told officers that her children were inside the home with the suspect was adentified as miguel gomez officers say they tried talking to gomez but gomez shot at them. police say an officer fired back killing gomez, santa clara county district attorney's office is now investigating that shooting. >> time now, 6.36, in the south bay, a preliminary hearing started in a case of what police say is and exorcism like ritual that ended with the death of a 3 year-old girl. the people accused of this murder, the girl's mother, uncle and grandfather. prosecutors say that they performed and exorcism in san jose in 2021. investigators determined the death of the girl was caused by suffocation. the preliminary hearing is expected to last through next tuesday. and the judge will decide then if there's enough evidence to go to trial. in

the north bay, a man faces multiple charges for attempted murder in green bray. there was a call yesterday morning about a man walking around with an ax on industrial way and rich street in green bray and witnesses said that scott civilian of petaluma was following another man. and then they got calls that there was someone who broke into a building with an accent attack. someone the employees in the building intervened and they pin that man down to the ground. the victim suffered severe facial injuries but is expected to recover. and now that person identified as scott is facing multiple charges. >> well, an update now to a story out of the east bay where investigators say the body of a man found badly burned in antioch was most likely due to an accidental fire. investigators say on saturday they found the body ellen court when they responded to reports of smoke,
