story this half hour. there are a number of pressing issues up for discussion and votes at a. >> today city council meeting in oakland as kron four's djegal tells us one of them is a resolution addressing the desperate need to try to remove abandoned vehicles from the streets. oakland resident and founder of the grassroots organization community ready court. her whole act says his group routinely deploys throughout the city to clean

up illegal dumping sites. but they do not have the authority to clear abandoned autos and supports the city bolstering its efforts to address the issues. like is a close second. >> to crime and they're and they're related their related. if we address those issues, they they're connected. so yes, absolutely. by is a huge issue. councilmember at-large. rebecca kaplan has co-sponsored the abandoned vehicles resolution supported by the city council. >> and kaplan says its execution would be paid for with existing funds. a lot of folks in the city have stepped up come to me personally and said, how can we help? what do you need? and so hopefully this is a measure that that moves in that direction. kaplan's $840,000 plan with an initial two-year term will upgrade the current antiquated system and utilize software to identify process removed and track abandoned vehicles. fund

of corruption and willful misconduct stemming from and allegation that she traded concealed weapons permits in exchange for donations to her re-election campaign on smith's appeal. she argued that by retiring prior to being found guilty of 6 corruption and willful misconduct charges that year. the removal proceedings that disqualified her from jury service and her job are no longer necessary. but the appellate judges disagreed upholding the original decision. smith declined to comment for this story. >> east palo alto police released surveillance video linked to a murder case from february 8th. police say the video shows that white suv, the center top of your screen stopped in appeared to the people inside, appeared to witnessed the attack that killed frank fendi on bell street at university avenue around 8.30, that night. police are asking people who are in that suv to give them a call. as soon as possible. a

author, pasadena, something member, chris holden. he believes the bill will lead to new preventative policies addressing hazing incidents before they happen. but not everyone supports the legislation in its current the csu system and the association oe independent california colleges and universities support with the bill is trying to do. but they made clear they want to see stronger legal protections for institutions. >> we intend to continue working in partnership with the authors office to find language that would be agreeable and come to the middle. at which time we will be very glad to remove opposition. still members of the committee overwhelmingly voted in favor of the bill expect or universities to act reasonably. >> in preventing these acts there. 2 lane, california students, most important responsibilities we have as legislatures when tragedies like this happen community to take action, >> is still occurring in our schools we just don't want another family to go through the pain of losing a child to

hazing. it's it's senseless and preventable. >> and this is just the beginning for this bill. now heads to the assembly education committee reporting at the state capitol. a tom wallace kron. 4 news. >> 2 weeks after learning she would not advance in the race for u.s. senate in california. congresswoman katie porter, former congresswoman is speaking out about her campaign and her decision to call the race rigged against her in her first interview since primary night, porter spoke with pod save america about her loss in those controversial comments the aftermath of the primary where we learned that congressman adam schiff and former baseball star steve garvey would face each other november. congresswoman porter suggested that billionaire's help to rig the election against or with attack ads in a conversation with pod save america. porter clarified her comments saying, quote, obviously i wish i had chosen a different word. she went on to say our california election officials do a terrific job in no way would i ever suggested there's anything other than a careful, thoughtful, amazing

look up to the scale there. that's the forecast for wetter than normal conditions as we head toward the beginning of the spring. as we look toward the end of the month and then the april 2. so, yeah, we've got a long way to go. some wintry weather not done with us just yet out the door, though, a little haze on the horizon than looking out over the bay right now, even a couple patches of fog there hanging off the coastline. we have had that breeze blowing around some of the pollens outside around the bay area. that seabreeze kind of getting healthy up there. some gust the 20 miles an hour. plus along the this evening. overall, though, looks like high pressure still hanging around today. tomorrow looks like another nice day after that. things begin to switch gears. we're going to be talking about or that sea breeze kicking in by tomorrow afternoon. should be a nice day with plenty of sunshine in most spots. but then the winds. yeah. get a little bit blustery by tomorrow afternoon, that stronger sea breeze kicking in. that will start talking about some rain will time out. the storm for you. coming up in just a few minutes. thank you, lawrence. trader joe's is pulling its cashews off the shelves due to the possibility of a salmonella contamination. >> the product is called 50%

less salt roasted and salted whole cashews. the lot numbers to look out for end in. 39 40 41 or 42. no illnesses have been reported. but if you have them, you're advised to throw them out or take them back to trader joe's for a refund. san francisco's announcing plans for electric vehicle curbside charging stations. right now the city's in the beginning stages of the project. >> kron four's tiffany justice has details. >> had constituents coming to me at office hours in the supermarket on the street asking when will san francisco finally have curbside charging? >> san francisco supervisor rafael mandelman answering that question tuesday. the city announcing a plan to roll out a pilot program for publicly accessible curbside charging stations by 2025. >> the driving forces behind this initiative has been the feedback and concerns raised by district 8 residents and folks from across the city.

we've heard from many of you who live in multi-unit apartment without access to garages or off-street chargers. >> there will be 3 main components before this pilot program starts. the first will be a citywide assessment, which will evaluate installation operation and maintenance of public charging stations at the curb at specific locations. the second will be working with experts to assess neighborhoods that are most suitable. and 3rd hearing from neighborhood groups mandelman says they'll be looking at other larger cities like new york and los angeles who already have a robust program in place. san francisco is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. >> by 2040, and has set an interim goal that 25% of all registered high the vehicles to be electric by 2030, to meet. goes vital that the city expand access to affordable and convenient charging options. that means expanding are charging network with home

workplace and public charging. >> this initiative is part of the city's effort to meet the growing demand. their plan is to eventually install more than 5,000 public chargers by twenty-thirty around the city with the ultimate goal of having these chargers in multiple neighborhoods across san francisco. >> it also means making sure that for the people who still need to drive that they have an option to switch to electric vehicle, whether or not they have their own garage. we are celebrating early tonight because tomorrow former san francisco mayor willie brown turns 90. >> the democratic politician served more than 30 years in the california state assembly. 15 years as assembly speaker in 1996, he became mayor of san francisco, the first african-american to hold that office. and since then, no doubt the former mayor has achieved true celebrity status

saturday, maybe a lingering shower on sunday, although not a washout, more snow to the sierra nevada to probably those snow levels dropping down to about 5,000 feet or so. and then another round of some rain possibly moving through on monday. and that just keeps going kind of on off in the next week and well beyond that. in fact, the long-range forecast models looking much colder than normal, possibly wet through the first week of april. all right. all that being said tomorrow, let's enjoy the sunshine while we have at this. probably going to be last day of the 70's around the bay area. 71 in san jose, 70 in concord, about 70 in livermore. lot of 60's inside the bay cooler 50's out toward the coastline out over the next couple days. of course, a springy official full day of spring tomorrow. and we're looking at those temperatures begin to cool down with more clouds on the way. starting on thursday, that rain moves in we go from 70's to struggling to get in the 50's as we head toward the bay area on friday and saturday and sunday. those temperatures staying way down, unsettled wet well into next week and beyond guys. you
