available to be tested? what does it show? legal analyst steven clark says it is significant to have the group get involved, but the innocence project has taken on the peterson case speaks volumes and it suggests that there is a potential here for peterson to get a new trial if they can show that laci peterson was still alive when scott peterson went fishing christmas eve, 2002. >> in addition to the van, other evidence requested includes reports collected from the search of the bay area. marina. we're laces remains were found. police reports on a burglary across the street from the peterson home and access to interviews conducted on eyewitnesses that reported seeing lacey after she went missing analysts. clark says that the bottom line and digging into this case years later is to ensure the integrity of our legal system since project may not show that scott peterson.

was working at rodriguez high school when he sent the messages. lewis was later booked into the solano county jail on several charges, including contacting a minor with intent to commit a crime in response to the ongoing investigation, the department posted on social media saying we are simultaneously disappointed, infuriated and saddened by this information. acts like these violate trust are wholly inexcusable and failed let exemplify what the fairfield police department stands for. and, quote, the school district also posted on social media saying children's safety is its utmost priority. >> take a good look at your screen. oaklandpolice need your help finding the man on the left side of your screen. they say sola dog during a burglary. you're looking at pictures of the dog there on the right hand side of your screen and the vehicle police say is linked to this robbery. officers say the burglary happened at a business on clara street near the oakland

airport around 11 o'clock last tuesday night's almost a week ago. police say the suspect was with a group of people. anyone with information is asked to contact oakland pd. as gun violence continues to plague the nation. and california attorney general rob bonta says the state is taking action to ensure guns are kept away from people who are prohibited from owning them. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace reports. well, just take a look at all of these guns. these represent just a handful of the more than 1000 firearms. the california department of justice seized last year. >> from people prohibited from owning them gun after gun after these make up a tiny portion of the 1443 firearms. the state's season 2023 from california is not legally allowed to have them. among the items seized more than 327,000 rounds of ammunition. 683 handguns, 364 rifles, 216

shotguns. 88 ghost guns as an unregistered guns that can be assembled at home. and 39 of what the state considers assault weapons. the goal is simple here. keep the number of illegally armed individuals as low as possible. that attorney general rob bonta says is specifically the goal of california's armed prohibited persons system program. also known as apps. it takes date of all the legal gun purchases and 3 plus million legal gun owners in the state and cross references it with a list of the more than 23,000 californians who are prohibited from owning a gun most of the time either because they were convicted of a violent felony or misdemeanor were placed under a domestic violence or other restraining order or are experiencing severe mental illness. >> if they're found with a gun or deemed to about one before ending up on the list, the state will come and take it away because of this program. organs. are off our streets and out of dangerous hands. more schools, places of worship, dance studios, workplaces and neighborhoods.

they are all safer. he notes the program is especially crucial in the state where more than 3,000 people die of gun violence every year bonta has long maintained the program does not target legal gun owners, something republicans in the legislature agree with. but while they acknowledge the state has ramped up investigations to confiscate guns from people banned from owning them assembly. minority leader james gallagher points out. the state still has a backlog of some 8,900 people who are under active investigation. in a statement he wrote while attorney general rob bonta chased headlines, the department of justice has barely put a dent in california's backlog of the legal gun owners removing fewer people from the app system last year than the year before reducing the backlog of illegal gun owners must be the doj absolute highest priority. we can save a life through a common sense institutionally compliant action. we should. and with our apps program, we are and bonta says his team will continue to go through

in. >> back that snow is not that far away. it will be pushing in as we head through the evening tonight and it looks like it's tomorrow to see the high country. yeah, you're getting the snow up there and looks like it will come down fairly heavily overnight tonight. not as big some of the previous storms. here's a look at incline village to see some of the snow off the side. and you notice all the waves out there on the lake. they're going to see some strong winds generated maybe 2 to 4 foot waves out across a lake tahoe. so here's the very latest on the doppler radar. you just beginning to see some snow showers possibly moving up along. i-80 near the donner summit. i'm not so much just clouds rolling through on 50 right now, but things go ahead. start to pick up as we head through the night tonight. in fact, that snow level going to be dropping down winter storm a rolling on through a right through tuesday. so more snow on the way. the snow level right around 4500, about 6,000 you can see as much as 3 to 6 inches about 5,000 feet. so that's a pretty decent storm rolling on through. of course, that will affect all the mountain passes up there. so you can expect some likely delays up there and change from time to time, especially
