official, the person was arrested near sproul plaza just before 9 tonight. officials say 9 shots were fired, forcing a shelter in place on campus. it was lifted about an hour later. thankfully, no injuries were reported. but uc berkeley, heavy police presence still on campus well into this evening, as you can see here, we're still working to get more information on what led up to that shooting. and we'll bring that to you as we learn more. >> we're going to be here. let's make sure we all work together to keep the streets >> our other top story tonight, san francisco officials decked out in red and gold getting hyped for super bowl. 58. we are now just 2 sleeps away from the big game in las vegas where the forty-niners will face off against the kansas city chiefs, san francisco officials holding what basically looked like a pep rally this morning. the city will be welcoming all football

fans this weekend to cheer on the niners, but their urging fans to practice common sense and behave. >> because after super bowl is over, we still got to walk the streets and we want them to claim. we don't want all that craziness going to be breaking people's windows a carry we don't want to take a joyous occasion and turn it into something else. >> caltrans is closing some freeway off ramps going into san francisco on sunday evening. here is the list of planned closures off-ramps on 101 in 2.80, will be closed off starting at 7 in the evening. those closures will go through midnight. pleasanton and santa clara police departments also announcing they will have additional officers patrolling the roads sunday. there could be on the lookout for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. for more, let's get you a check of your forecast. taking a live look at quite tower tonight. it has been lit up in

red and gold over the last several days. there goes the red tomorrow is also a lunar new year. so lots of celebrations going on. we've been listening to fireworks in the city all evening long, lawrence? yeah, the beautiful all lit up around san francisco to the colors. just amazing out there. getting ready for the big weekend. >> a high pressure going to be moving in just in time. that big h yeah, that is building in. that is going to send the jetstream to the north. so any of those storms going to have well north of the bay area leaving behind plenty of sunshine. and yes, it looks like a dry weekend ahead. tomorrow is going to be a great start that weekend with mostly sunny skies. you'll see here too, on the forecast models as we head through the day, sunny side up little cold to start out your morning. some of those temperatures dropping off in the 30's in some of the valleys. but otherwise, as we head toward the afternoon, warming up even the mid 60's and some of the warmer spots sunday, a few more clouds make their way across our skies. but overall, it'll be fantastic weather ahead and looking very yeah.

stole a small plane in palo alto and then crash landed it in half moon bay. today. crews repaired the fence at the palo alto airport, which it's believed that's how the thief snuck in. and so that plane last night, san mateo county sheriff's deputies say 50 year-old luis, gustavo, at us from florida, stole the 1960's, the top area plane flu and crashed its nose down in the sand in half. moon bay. we spoke to aviation experts who say he could not find anniston, the register database of pilots but says he had to have some knowledge of the plane. its heart to fly. it. >> and as you know, you saw the way kind of crashed onto the beach. he probably trying to land on the beach for the details right here. it's kind of hard to land prop kind of caught sand and went down. no staff. >> he says the 1960's plane is pretty easy to steal at ice was booked and charged with

airplane theft. meantime, a man is in custody tonight for stabbing a hospital employee 9 times in burlingame. police say 53 year-old joseph falvey large junior was in the emergency room at sutter health's mills peninsula medical center on wednesday night. witnesses told police he was sitting in the er and talking to himself saying he was looking for a man dressed in white one hospital employee walked up to him in a white surgical gown. he pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed them repeatedly. the victim is expected to survive. all of them are entered a not guilty plea. the district attorney's office says he has a history of mental illness. preliminary hearing is set for later this month. a man is behind bars, accused of burglarizing 2 businesses in nevado. police say 42 year-old paul amey junior from hercules used a crowbar to break into fbi burgers and more and fitness at the square shopping center last week he was arrested

after police spotted him driving a stolen vehicle. this is what police recovered from that stolen car cash in property belonging to those 2 businesses. amy junior has been booked into the marion county jail. kron. 4 is your local election headquarters. democratic senate candidate democratic senate candidate adam schiff was in san francisco today unveiling a housing plan. he spoke at new age, a supermarket in the city's chinatown. it's set to be converted into affordable housing ship says he's pushing for a bill that would invest more than a billion dollars over 5 years to a group that helps state and local governments develop affordable housing. >> partnerships that are putting a project like this on the map would really on the map or exactly what we need to see. a lot more of and the federal government needs to play its part. >> part of the bill if passed, would also focus on investing money into child care centers. a reminder for you force hosting a debate on february.

high clouds up above, but that's about it. i think overall tonight the skies going start clear out more so cold temperatures going to be settling in again tonight, but not quite as cold as last night. that being said, you'll still see a couple 30's and some of the valleys and maybe even inside the bay. tomorrow, though, plenty of sunshine coming our way and warmer temperatures to maybe couple mid 60's. yeah, it's going feel pretty comfortable around the bay area compared to what it's been a lot like lately. all right. temperatures out the door. yeah, we're cooling off. 43 in half moon bay. 48 7 dale. 46 in berkeley. 41 degrees in sonoma. you're down in the 30's now in calistoga. also in the kelce bill overnight lows about 35 in santa rosa. 38 in fremont about 35 getting colder live war. she the idea cold start the day with maybe a couple patches of frost. but overall, yeah, not bad weather. we've got a little bit of a northerly component. the wind bringing a couple high clouds across our skies tonight. but overall looking pretty good. but long right forecast for you. here we go are going to see a nice start to the weekend. sunday looks good to just a couple of passing clouds. then we get in the

middle of next week. we start to see things change bit weak, cold front moves through and that's going to kind of open the door first series of storms to plow their way into the bay area's we get toward the latter part of the week. in fact, here we go would be in that parade of storms. the first one coming through on friday. expect phe possibility of heavy rain and some gusty winds and hot on its heels. another. we've got another one coming in as we head in toward a late saturday into sunday. and this may be the biggest one of all possibly coming in on monday. that could be a monster storm. you see the center of the low. it's not too far away possibly coming our way. we're going to watch that one closely as we could see a significant rain event. so let's enjoy the sunshine while we have a temperatures tomorrow 50's and some 60's out there next couple days. yeah, we're going to see more of nice weather on the way as we head toward the middle of the week. looks like as we head valentine's day. a couple clouds sneak in by the end of next week. back to winter again. well, i mean, even at night, though, it's kind of cold still out yeah, a little by israeli. yeah. night. enjoy the sunshine. thanks, lauren. okay.
