weekend for tens of thousands of people. but the body of a woman was found golden gate park where the outside lands music festival was happening this weekend. and tonight we're learning more about that woman. thank you for joining us tonight on kron. 4 news at 5. i'm grant lotus. we now know her identity. this person was full, found dead in golden gate park last night. the san francisco coroner's office has identified the victim as 37 year-old kelly koike of san francisco for some and harry is live at golden gate park with the latest on the situation. amanda. >> things look back to normal here at golden gate park right now. but speaking to people here in the park, they say it's sad to know that less than 24 hours ago, a woman's body was found just around p% here. >> it feels a little weird is a little area this morning. when i when i came in, i was like man, don't know what happened here last night. andre johnson says this has been his route every day

working for outside lands. but sunday night it look different. when i left the festival, we probably about maybe 40 50 police officers out here. we have the yellow tape and red taped off everything. i just kind of automatically assume to some pretty bad. and johnson's assumption was right. 37 year-old kelly quake of san francisco's body was found around 07:00pm sunday. the san francisco standard reports that she was inside of a duffel bag, a dog walker founder next to stow lake near where outsidelands was taking there's a lot of chatter at work about what was going on last night outside lands did release a statement about the incident, simply saying that, quote, the san francisco police department is currently investigating the reported matter and all questions should be directed to their department at this time. it's unclear if the victim was attending outside lance, but there were a lot of people in golden gate park at the time she was found. it was pretty shocking knowing that there's so many thousands of people walking around and liked.

>> but it didn't happen. so you immediately go like i'm really lucky. what the can i do? >> that was lauren lyster reporting for us tonight. federal officials say more than 3,000 people in maui have registered for various kinds of federal assistance. that number is expected to grow the biden administration and the hawaiian government launched a transitional shelter assistance program for people in need of housing which allows them to move into hotels or motels. the president is also seeking 12 billion dollars in additional money from congress. tell people there recover. fema says it currently has the right amount of personnel on the ground. >> this is going to be a long-term recovery operation. we have the resources need today we continue to identify what the needs are will continue to move more and we will be in hawaii every step of the way to help residents take control recovery. then we're building a way that is going to make them more resilient.

can see all those systems i was telling you about. that's that tropical storm. and this is that cat 4 hurricane and another system that is developing right behind it. but thankfully it is moving southward so it shouldn't have of impact with them out there and hawaiian islands stormtracker 4 is also showing busy weather here. we have thunder showers here in the sierra nevada and central california. so you may notice last night and even now you may notice some light rain and some pop-up thunderstorms across the bay area. we have reports in contra costa county. there's activity down in near san benito county. so that's because we have this low pressure system to our south. that's driving all that moisture over to our area. so what you can expect for tonight similar to last night, some slight isolated showers and increasing cloud cover and the temperatures quite mild. 5th mid 50's to 70's have your full forecast in a few minutes. back to you. appreciated gayle. now an update to a big story we've been following san jose city workers.

>> have just suspended their strike. that was supposed to start tomorrow. according to union leaders, they have made substantial progress in conversations with the city and they say the city council is going to be holding a closed session to review the conceptual terms of a new agreement tomorrow morning. the strike would have seen about half of city workers on the picket lines for 3 days this week. so we'll keep you posted there. meanwhile, san francisco's laguna honda hospital could be one step closer to being reinstated as a medicaid provider. the facility has officially applied for recertification with federal regulators. laguna honda lost its medicare and medicaid funding after several scandals, including claims of patient abuse, patient, overdosing and safety violations. if the hospital is not re certified by next month, it would be forced to either discharge or relocate roughly 700 patients. those transfers originally started last year but were halted

after a dozen patients reportedly died in the transfer process. national news prosecutors in georgia are expected to seek an indictment against former president trump perhaps as soon as this week. if that happens, it would be the 4th indictment against him. the fulton county district attorney in georgia is investigating trump's alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in georgia. multiple charges could be filed against more than a dozen defendants, including the former president. they include his former attorneys, rudy giuliani and sidney powell. meanwhile, cnn reports prosecutors have said they have text messages that link mister trump's former legal team to a voting system breach in georgia. the tampa bay rays baseball teams in town tonight taking on the giant start of a three-game series. but they'll be without a young star on the team. wander franco, the 22 year-old is going on to what they call the restricted list while major league baseball

continues to struggle with public safety. while there's oakland police weekly crime report shows that year-to-date homicides are down by 2%. the vast majority of crimes, including aggravated assault, burglary, carjacking, rape and robbery have all increased. >> so it's almost a perfect storm. violent crime, low staffing, a lot of consequences in the city. oakland police officers association, president officer barry donelan gives the union's perspective behind this year's increased crime 20% increase in 9-1-1. calls our response times have reduced. so functionally increase calls and number officers always a and supply that's helping to drive these crimes. that's the first week of august. governor gavin newsom announced the california highway patrol will be deployed in oakland to backup opd. have you seen where all that? yes, absolutely been deployed all

those of 17 year old katy sugar. the discovery was made saturday is crews were searching for the missing teen. the 17 year-old went missing more than a month ago. and just last week, deputies say they found her white honda accord near the park. according to a post on social media schneider was involved in a car accident leading to her death. the circumstances surrounding that car accident are being investigated. on the peninsula. menlo park residents are being advised to keep an eye out for a mountain lion that was seen in the sharon heights area this morning about 8.45 min low park. police issued an advisory saying about line was seen along the back fence line at the sharon heights, golf and country club. wildlife officials say that since the big cat did not appear to be aggressive, it didn't represent an immediate danger to the community. there have been several mountain lion sightings in and around populated bay area communities since the start of the year, including in petaluma san jose

really fast. so we have this high pressure here to our south and then we also the low pressure that's also in our south as well. and that's bringing us all interesting weather. here's our mount tam cam. you can see the clouds from all though systems heading our way. so has been cloudy around the bay area and particularly around the coast. a stepping outside at this hour. temperatures, it was hot inland. so 96 right now at this hour in livermore, 91 in concord, 78 the east bay shoreline and hibbert and over by the coast. we're in the 60's. so definitely cooler and cloudy over there. as for daytime highs tomorrow, a similar pattern. we're going to stay toasty in the east bay and especially in the inner valleys and 99 livermore, concord in antioch and so you can expect another warm and hot day. here is seven-day forecast. so you can see we're going to hold on to the upper 90's until midweek. and then things start to cool off maybe like upper 80's for the end of the weekend. that will feel
