>> when >> fun time from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news. >> neighbors in a santa rosa community still concern tonight after a tesla crashed into a home with a resident inside the sonoma county sheriff's wife now facing dui charges. thanks for joining us here on kron. 4 news at 10.

i'm noelle bellow and i'm dan throw in the crash, sending the resident to the hospital with minor injuries. kron four's amanda hari reports from santa rosa tonight with more. >> i spoke to the people that live in the home behind me that was crashed into. they say they've been through so much this weekend and don't want to appear on camera. but the woman that was injured is back home and for covering. >> a shocking photo of a tesla crashed into the side of a home. it happened just before one saturday morning on the corner of calistoga road and beaumont way santa rosa police say it looks like the tesla veered off the road, hitting a fence and a tree before colliding with the front of the house. one neighbor told me off camera that when she looked outside and saw the crash, she was worried for the driver's life. the driver is okay. and she has been identified as natasha whipping hill, the wife of sonoma county sheriff eddie engram. our officers are trained to investigate any sort of case like. >> we've arrested public official to be arrested first

responder and the rest it. everyday mom and dad's for a variety of charges including dui. very common charge in today's society. unfortunately. so in the end, our officers are still required to go through the same steps for every dui investigation. santa rosa police lieutenant christopher hird says winning hill was arrested for felony dui with cause of injury. but the one main thing that we're going to be waiting for is for the blood alcohol results to come back from the department of justice. it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks ish to come back. that will go to the district attorney's office so they can determine charges. the santa rosa police department is handling the case. >> the sheriff's office recused itself because of a potential conflict of interest. but sheriff and graham did release a statement that said in part, quote, as a husband, i am greatly concerned about my wife's will be inc. >> as a citizen in sheriff, i'm also concerned about the well-being of the person inside the home who suffered injuries. lieutenant, heard says they believe the driver was in full control of the tesla when the crash happened. currently, there's no belief

that the tesla itself from the automation was at fault for collision. >> we do believe that it was an impaired driver behind the wheel that caused the crash. >> and that's why that individual was arrested. some of the neighbors i spoke to off camera said >> that they have some concerns about this intersection right here. and they say people tend to speed through late at night in santa rosa amanda hari kron. 4 news. developing tonight out of san jose. one person dead, others injured after a fiery crash this afternoon. the 2 mangled vehicles here ending up. >> at the fruitvale and lee avenues intersection around one 31 of the cars completely overturned. that's the one that caught fire. this video from the scene this evening. you can see those cars being towed away. the intersection reopened just after 7 o'clock this evening. the investigation into what happened continues at this point. we still do not know exactly how many people were hurt in this crash. new at 10, a car was found partially

under water in the stevens creek reservoir in this evening. >> the fire department says they got word of this just before 7 o'clock. at this point. we do not know how the car got into the water or if anyone was injured. the santa clara county fire department, the sheriff's office and the san jose fire department are all looking into what happened. >> also new at 10 contra costa fair had to close early tonight because of more teenagers fighting. that is the incorrect video there. but videos were making rounds on social media showing multiple fights breaking out on saturday. the fair requiring chaperones for all youth after 05:00pm tonight. however, it looks like that plan to prevent more violence. didn't work. our crew was actually turned away from the fair just before 9 o'clock this evening. they were told by security there was more fighting there tonight. the carnival was

supposed to stay open until 11 o'clock for its final evening. but it closed early. oakland police are investigating 2 separate shootings that left 2 people dead this weekend. the first happened around 11. 45 last night on bancroft avenue near the arroyo viejo rex enter one person died at the scene. police say another victim in the shooting had been taken to the hospital. they are expected to survive. no word on a suspect in that shooting that hours later around 3.30, this morning, another person was killed in a shooting on c street near no word on a suspect in that shooting >> a man is in custody following a standoff with law enforcement in the city of american canyon. that's in napa county. this is an image of the man being arrested in a shelter in place. was ordered for residents in that area. casella drive in rio del mar around 3 o'clock this morning. and then just before 9, it was lifted. police were called to the area after a person reported the man had fired a gun inside of the home. the

man was taken into custody around 8.15, this morning. no injuries were reported. >> 10, 00:05am, tonight. let's get you a check of your 4 zone forecast as we take a live look at downtown san francisco doesn't really seem to be a lot cloud cover or fog tonight. seems like a nice clear one out there. we know it's definitely going to be warming up tomorrow. let's get a look at the forecast now with rodriguez, a recent pay their debt and well, yeah, it certainly warmed up today 5 to 10 degrees from yesterday's daytime highs where we were all above average. let's take a look at temperatures. >> for downtown san francisco. 65 degrees near normal. 63 degrees is the average high. so seasonal temperatures there with low 70's for oakland, but the warmest city, the mildest location was certainly livermore 10 degrees above average when you should be in the mid 70's. instead, warming up. >> into the mid 80's. so just an indicator of how hot it's going to get tomorrow because

>> videos making the rounds on social media have shown multiple fights breaking out on saturday at the fair. >> the fared than required chaperones for all youth after 5 o'clock tonight. but it looks like that plan to prevent more violence did not work as you just saw in that video, our crew and several others were turned away from the fair before 09:00pm. they were told by security there was more fighting there tonight. the carnival was supposed to stay open until 11 o'clock for this final evening. but as we've reported, it has closed early. things are calmer at sfo tonight. that wasn't the case. earlier today. those a live look at the airport. there was a suspicious package that shutdown terminal to delaying and canceling dozens of flights. police say it's since been removed and the area is safe. kron 4 sarah stinson reports. >> fortunately everyone is

okay here at sfo. terminal 2 is back up and running. but it did cause a major ripple effect over 250 delays and over 17 cancellations. the burns family was flying home to boston out of sfo sunday morning when terminal 2 was completely shut down. and we have made our way through most of security were about to go all the way through and all the sudden the security representative started shouting, breach, preach, preach and people are going through the exit the wrong way and running. police say around 11, 30 officers at the san francisco international airport responded to terminal 2 for reports of a suspicious package. the item was left near the food court. everyone in the terminal was forced to evacuate. flyers were told to stay put outside of security while police looked into it, it's always just hope that everybody is doing what they can to make sure that it's safe for have never had this just chalk up another one. a lot of people were on their phones trying to figure out

what was going on. others called loved ones. and some said on the ground tired of standing, just all waiting for the all-clear. airline staff provided updates >> we're still waiting for 2 years, said will more up there. you're going to start of some planes were forced to sit on the tarmac. >> causing flyers to miss their connecting flights. 3 hours later, police gave the all-clear security at terminal 2 reopened people scrambled to get in many concerned about the status of their flights or at least maybe alaska will do what they can to just. >> yeah. get some flights on the on the books that will help get us home. they put us on a red-eye tonight at 09:55pm. with. 3 kids. police did not give any more information about the suspicious package. and if it was, in fact, a threat to public safety. and sarah stinson reporting at sfo. >> kron 4 news.

>> president biden and ukrainian president volodymyr zelensky had a sit-down meeting today during the g 7 summit in japan. this was the first meeting between the 2 since the president visited kiev in february during the meeting, president biden praised the ukrainian defense effort, announced a new 375 million dollars security aid package. the deal will supply ukraine with ammunition, weapons and armored trucks. this all coming after an announcement made by the white house on friday with the u.s. agreeing to help train ukrainian pilots on f 16 fighter jets. this morning. >> i once more shared and assured president zelensky together with all 7 members and our allies partners around the world that we will not waver. not break our resolve as he thought he could 2 years ago, almost 3 years. we're going to continue to provide economic humanitarian and security assistance to ukraine so we can stand strong as long as it needs.

>> the g 7 nations also announced slew of new sanctions this weekend meant to punish moscow. >> the debt ceiling deadline is june first and leaders on both sides of the aisle appear to be closer to reaching a deal. that's after president biden and speaker mccarthy had a productive call over the weekend. gaynor hall has the latest. >> president biden heading home early from an international trip aiming to get debt ceiling talks on track with republican house speaker kevin mccarthy. i do not think it's extreme that we simply say we should spend less to be spent this year. >> now it's time for other side to move there from their extreme positions because much of what they've already proposed is simply a quite frankly, unacceptable. >> the president says he does believe he has the authority to invoke the 14th amendment to unilaterally address the debt ceiling crisis. but there may not be enough time. there will be hard choices to make

if the debt ceiling isn't raised, the sides remain apart on several key issues. democrats want a clean debt limit increase, but republicans are rejecting proposals to raise tax revenues and holding firm on demands for spending cuts. new work requirements for medicaid and food assistance and cause for enforcement funding for the internal revenue service. something that greatly concerns me is that they have even been in favor. >> removing that's been provided to the internal revenue service to crack down on tax fraud. we have enormous gap between to texas where collecting and what we should be collecting. >> treasury secretary janet yellen says the june first deadline remains from where the country won't be able to pay its bills. the president has really shifted right after the more progressive socialist wing of the party stood up and

says they want to spend more money. he's now bringing something to the table that everyone said was off the table. he's it seems as though he wants to fall more than he wants a deal this time for republicans accept that there's no bipartisan deal. >> to be made solely solely on their partisan turns. they have to move as well. >> take a look at this goats there. back in oakley. the city tweeting out this photo saying the goats are a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to help control vegetation. this is important, of course, as we head further into fire season, the city says the goats will be used to access hard to reach areas that are too steep for people or machines. you are, of course, asked to not feed the goats if you see them out there, they are eating plenty. >> and we then got ask their all right. yeah. when their job, of course, we always have to keep in mind, building your own defensible space around your home, correct? i mean, if you have a pet goat to go

ahead and let him i mean, around your property and goat grazing the lawn. all right. let's get a look at your 4 zone. forecast is a live look at the financial district here in san francisco. looks like there's maybe a little moisture in the what's going on recent? yeah, we're noticing a very shallow marine layer out there right now, which is just an indicator. >> of how warm we got today and it's going to get even hotter tomorrow. let's take a live look outside in the east bay over berkeley. and that may gray pattern not going to be as big or as widespread as what we typically see this time of year. but we are tracking shallow marine layer at best and it is going to impact most of the bay area shoreline. specifically those of you along half moon bay and even the east bay shoreline, san jose as well going to get that thin layer of that fog bank, but also dense low clouds and fog to start your monday morning commute. so just a heads up there, better lifting and clearing by your monday afternoon with temperatures warming up 5 to 10 degrees above average from now. until then we're tracking

a 20 degree difference from our coolest coastal city and our warmest inland valley checkout brentwood, andy stern contra costa county. 72 degrees at this 10 o'clock hour with timber on at fifty-two degrees and everything else in between widespread 50's and 60's for your sunday night in the bay area with overnight lows tonight in the 50's and temperatures tomorrow heating up, especially for inland valleys. our warmest valleys, flirting with 90's for concord and antioch and those again east earn contra costa county, specifically pittsburgh. and even brett would expect to be in the low 90's, at least so. stay cool. stay hydrated. temperatures. a lot more pleasant as you make your way closer to the bay area coastline. low 60's for half moon bay and 74 degrees for oakland, santa rosa and nevado on the mild side in the mid 80's. taking a look ahead at the next 7 day forecast. big drop in temperatures tuesday, 5 to 10 degrees cooler. and then near average highs for the remainder of the next 10 days. back to dan in a while.
