joining us here on kron. 4 news at 9. i'm noelle bellow and i'm dan thorn in the crash, sending the resident to the hospital with minor injuries. >> kron four's amanda hari reports from santa rosa tonight with more. >> i spoke to the people that live in the home behind me that was crashed into. they say they've been through so much this weekend and don't want to appear on camera. but the woman that was injured is back home and recovering. >> a shocking photo of a tesla crashed into the side of a home. it happened just before one saturday morning on the corner of calistoga road and beaumont way santa rosa police say it looks like the tesla veered off the road, hitting a fence and a tree before colliding with the front of the house. one neighbor told me off camera that when she looked outside and saw the crash, she was worried for the driver's life. the driver is okay. and she has been identified as natasha whipping hill, the wife of sonoma county sheriff eddie engram. our officers are trained to investigate any sort of case

like. >> we've arrested public official to arrested first responder and the rest it. everyday mom and dad's for a variety of charges including dui. very common charge in today's society. unfortunately. so in the end, our officers are still required to go through the same steps for every dui investigation. santa rosa police lieutenant christopher hird says winning hill was arrested for felony dui with cause of injury. but the one main thing that we're going to be waiting for is for the blood alcohol results to come back from the department of justice. it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks ish to come back. that will go to the district attorney's office so they can determine charges. the santa rosa police department is handling the case. >> the sheriff's office recused itself because of a potential conflict of interest. but sheriff and graham did release a statement that said in part, quote, as a husband, i am greatly concerned about my wife's will be inc. >> as a citizen in sheriff, i'm also concerned about the well-being of the person inside the home who suffered injuries. lieutenant, heard says they believe the driver was in full control of the tesla when the crash happened.

currently, there's no belief that the tesla itself or the automation was at fault for collision. >> we do believe that it was an impaired driver behind the wheel that caused the crash. >> and that's why that individual was arrested. some of the neighbors i spoke to off camera said >> that they have some concerns about this intersection right here. and they say people tend to speed through late at night in santa rosa amanda hari kron. 4 news. >> some developing news out of san jose tonight. one person dead. others are injured after a fiery crash this afternoon. the 2 mangled vehicles there and it up at the fruitdale and lee avenues intersection around one 30 one of the cars completely overturned. and that's the one that caught on fire there. this is video from the scene this evening. you can see the cars being towed away. that intersection reopened just after 7 o'clock tonight. but the investigation into what happened continues at this point. we do not know exactly how many people were hurt in this crash?

>> taking a live look tonight out at sfo things a pretty calm out there. however, inside the airport earlier today, chaos after a suspicious package in the food court shut down one of the terminals for several hours. thankfully that package was removed by police. everything was ok, but dozens of flights were either canceled or delayed hears how things are looking at last check. flightaware reporting the airport has had 288 delays. 17 cancellations there at sfo. today's incident, even for some planes to sit on the tarmac, which caused travelers to miss their connecting flights. one family tells us when they heard word about what was going on. it did cause a bit of panic. >> we have made our way through most of security were about to go all the way through and all the sudden the security representative started shouting, breach, preach, preach and people are going through the exit the wrong way and running. police

have yet to provide any information about what the suspicious package. >> was an if it was, in fact, a safety threat or a security breach. oakland police investigating 2. police are investigating 2 separate separate shootings that left 2 people dead. >> the first shooting happened around 11. 45 last night bancroft avenue near the arroyo is reks enter out there. one person died at the scene. police say another victim in the shooting had been taken to the hospital. they are expected to survive. no word on the shooter at this time. then hours later around 03:30am, in the morning, another person was killed in a shooting on c street near no word on a shooting in that case either. >> a preliminary 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast. >> of humboldt county this afternoon. that happened just before noon about 65 miles off the coast of put no tsunami warning or threat was issued.

>> the timing was interesting, though, here, california's office of emergency services is set to hold a meeting to discuss the december and january earthquakes in humboldt county this week. >> all right. let's get you a check. your 4 zone forecast. a live look tonight overlooking a san francisco from our sutro tower cam. looks like the moisture that we saw kind of moving through there in the last it's kind of moved away. dissipated. >> we are expecting a bit of a warm-up tomorrow. meteorologist mabrisa rodriguez has details. yeah. in fact, warming trend started today and it's really going to peak to start your work week. monday forecast. so let's take a look at just how warm it got earlier this afternoon, temperatures 5 to 10 degrees warmer than what we saw yesterday. so instead of being below average, we're all at or slightly above normal. so let's take a look at downtown san francisco. 65 degrees, right about where we should be for this time of year with low 70's. for those of you in oakland should be averaging 68 degrees. no one certainly

complaining there and a mild day for livermore. 85 degrees when you should be in the mid 70's so easily, 10 degrees above average in taking a live look outside at city hall. we are tracking a shallow marine layer along the immediate coastline of the bay area and even along our bay area beaches, pacifica, 53 degrees with downtown san francisco currently at 57 degrees. mid 60's for warmest inland valleys in dublin livermore in the east bay. but even milder for pittsburgh and brentwood, 10 degrees milder for stern contra costa county with san jose at 61 degrees as nevado for those of you in the north bay. so certainly tracking milder temperatures this afternoon after today's warm up and when tracker for keeping an eye on northerly winds throughout downtown san francisco. but we're getting that cool sea breeze influence for pacifica. even those westerly winds extending into our east bay valleys. taking a look ahead at the next 7 day outlook, just a sneak peek of what's in store for us on monday. it is going to be a scorcher of a day for our hottest inland valleys at or

that, leaving the deceased behind. should be taking them with you and taking them with you is change. that's what we should be doing. not just in the state, but in this country. >> that was ryan chandler report. >> the naacp is warning black americans not to travel to florida. the travel advisory comes after governor ron desantis signed laws threatening to withhold state funding from public schools over how they teach race or if they have diversity equity and inclusion programs. the organization says those laws show a hostility towards black americans and are in conflict with democratic ideals. lgbtq immigrant and other advocacy groups have also issued travel advisories recently, the governor's office has dismissed them, calling them stuck >> and world news tonight, at least 12 people are dead. dozens of there, dozens of others injured after a stampede in el salvador. this happened last night at a soccer stadium in the capital city of san salvador. police

say broke out after fans pushed through an entrance gate. the cause of the stampede is still under investigation. u.s. soccer federation releasing a statement about this saying in part, we stand with our colleagues and friends at the salvadoran soccer federation during this time of mourning and offer our comfort and support to the salvadoran people. >> here at home, governor gavin newsom out with a new plan he says will protect threatened fish species critical for the ecosystem across much of the state capitol correspondent eytan wallace explains what the governor hopes to do and what he says will happen if action is not taken soon. >> the roaring sound of rapids coupled with the site of rushing water. you're looking at the dagger point dam along the yuba river in rural yuba county, north of sacramento in the future. today, governor gavin newsom toward a portion of the damage. he unveiled a plan to restore this part of the yuba river all in an effort to save threatened fish species, including the chinook

salmon, the steelhead, the green and white sturgeon and the pacific lamprey, all creatures who rely on this waterway for their habitat and eventual repopulation. here's the background on the fish species in question. the adult spawn way up river in the cold. sierra nevada away from predators, their babies then come all the way down river to the ocean where they live for a few years before they themselves come back up river to spawn only problem. according to state leaders that them that's in the way this is important is about protecting preserving the species for generations to fish for the governor are integral parts of the ecosystem here, but he also makes clear the 117 year-old dam has done its job of blocking settlement and enhance and flood protection for nearby areas. that's why instead of destroying the down, he's backing the plan. he believes most californians will get behind the construction of this new 60 million dollars on ramp looking waterway that will allow fish to sidestep the dam and easily swim up and down stream without getting stuck

in the dam were moving. there's real progress and there's progress in an area, but frankly gets under resourced. why his team says it matters. they've salmon are healthy. it means our rivers are healthy and when salmon suffer, it's an indication that our rivers are suffering. and this project certainly will not just go up overnight. officials still need to go through what could be a lengthy process to obtain building permits. and after that, it could take a few years for construction to complete reporting in yuba county. 8 on wallace kron. 4 news. >> now to our 4 zone forecast taking a live look at downtown san francisco tonight. i'm trying to figure out being played on the. on the screens there. but i can her a lot to tell us. lots of every starting a standing by with more on just how warm we're going to get in the next couple days. yeah, you got it. warmed up today. tomorrow. it's going to be even milder. we're going to be 5 to 10 degrees above average. let's take a live look outside and you can see downtown san

francisco at the transamerica pyramid. not really shrouded in that high cloud cover like we're used to seeing. a great going to take a little bit of a back seat, at least for one more day. we are tracking a shallow marine layer along the coast, specifically for our bay area beaches. but overall. >> we're going to see little to no cloud cover going to wake up to some may gray by our monday morning in and around the bay area shoreline. but as quickly as it arrives, it is going to leave the bay area. thanks to these warmer temperatures that we're tracking with some of our hottest inland valleys, warming up into the 90's. but let's take a look at the past. 24 hour. temperature change cause we're seeing double-digit warming right now in concord and livermore. that's why you're in the 60's and 70's mid 60's for dublin and livermore. low 70's for concord. still even at this 9 o'clock hour in pittsburgh in brentwood, even milder than that in the mid 70's while our bay area coastal beaches in the mid 50's easily tracking a 20 degree difference in

temperatures. widespread 60's for most of our north bay valleys to know that those starting to dip into the upper 50's at 59 degrees and overnight lows tonight. going to stay on the mild side. we're tracking low to mid-50's with the exception of antioch. only cooling down to 58 degrees and high temperatures tomorrow we're going to be slightly above average for most bay area cities 5 to 10 degrees above normal with concord, an antioch, flirting with the 90's at 88 degrees, oakland and hayward in the mid 70's and our san francisco peninsula coastline still in the 60's, even with the warm up because of that cool sea breeze a gray pattern. we're going to warm up to 67 degrees, though, for downtown san francisco with half moon bay in the low 60's. but just barely taking a look ahead at the next 7 day outlook. we will cool down as quickly as we cool down on tuesday. even more fully expected in the days ahead. we're tracking a 5 to 10 degree drop in temperatures on tuesday. seasonal temperatures by your midweek forecast and then

am radio from dashboards and many carmakers already are. these lawmakers say am radio is dependable and cost free essential to disseminate information about natural disasters and emergencies. senator ted cruz is introducing the bill alongside senator ed markey. crews calling it a platform for alternative viewpoints. likely referring to the conservative talk shows on am radio nelson says 50 million people still listen. most are baby boomers about a 3rd of am. radio listeners are over the age of 65. a lot of automakers view it as obsolete. now that there's blue tooth that you can stream music and podcast, there are apps that can provide am radio content. electric vehicle makers like tesla, bmw, volkswagen. they have all already eliminated. and radio arguing that there's also electromagnetic interference with am radio in particular, even 40 is getting rid of it in some models. the alliance for automotive innovation tells us in a statement the congress making it illegal would be

>> health officials hosted a training event on how you can help reverse an opioid overdose with the lifesaving drug narcan kron. 4 sarah stinson shows us how to use it. >> the opioid epidemic has become so deadly that we're seeing people dying on our san mrancisco streets. the city holding training so that you can learn how to use narcan medication. that's difference between life and death. >> one big spray up one oscar. and that's all it takes to reverse an opioid overdose. the san francisco department of public health distributed 72,000 kits with naloxone or narcan last year and has trained more than 3,000 people on how to recognize and respond to an overdose. one of

those training sessions was held in the mission district wednesday night by eileen locker in the city's director of overdose prevention. >> they're happening across the city. the first step is recognizing the signs of an overdose. the most common being if someone is not responsive or has shallow to know breathing, if you believe someone is overdosing, this is how to properly respond. first, try to wake them up. hey, are you ok if they don't respond, try rubbing your knuckles up and down the sentor of their chest. bone preston really hard. >> it hurts. if none of that works, then it's time to call 9-1-1, and administer the person said a little bit to to nose actually open the airway little bit. >> and then you hold how at least holding it. >> and then press that each narc can only hold one spread. you have to wait 2 to 3 minutes. granted, that is the longest 2 to 3 minutes ever. but it works. the most important thing that we say

train people is wait that 2 to 3 minutes. >> and do not apply administer more narcan until that time passes. while you wait to see if it works or not, you can start rescue breathing, pinch the nose and tilt the head back get to press. >> look at their chest and, you know, actually seager their chest rising. and then after that, it's one breath every 5 seconds. once they become responsive, communicate to the person that you gave them narcan and stay with them until paramedics arrived. the city hopes this kind of education will prevent more people from dying. the more people that are trained and the more that we have naloxone out in the community. >> we can save lives and that's most important is saving lives because >> that's when you can make change. you can buy narcan at a pharmacy like cvs or walgreens. be can get it for free. one of the city's pharmacies that's located at 13, 80 howard street. i'm sara stinson reporting in san francisco. kron. 4 news.

monday night radar for tracking very dry, clear conditions. but it's going to be another mild day for your monday. not a cloud he sky. so no threat of thunderstorms for most of this year. but as you can see over yosemite national park, specifically the highest peaks there tracking scattered showers with some monsoonal moisture trying to make its way into this but instead we're going to see a lot more sunshine by. >> truckee standards, mid 70's. scertainly going to be on the mild side. there was south lake tahoe warming up into the low 70's and taking a look ahead at the next 3 day outlook. we're going to begin a gradual cooling trend after monday. so that's why that flood watch will be allowed to expire on monday night. because tuesday, we're going to drop into the mid 60's with even cooler temperatures for the midweek in the low 60's with that threat of monsoonal moisture returning to this back to you, dan and well. >> thank you, bree. so for your health tonight, around half a million of these waffle makers are being taken off the shelves due to safety issues.
