the next few days into the next weekend. it's going to be a sunny one. good morning, john. hay rain that. yeah, we're going to see a sunny afternoon. we've got the fog this morning, though, looking out there at the east bay. you can see. >> that low gray that is hovering right over the bay itself. now for most of us visibility is okay. but we are seeing some localized areas where you're going to be driving through that dense fog, especially in the year hillsides of the bayshore south bay and north bay. so watch out for some of that. it burns off it lifts and it sets us up for a really nice afternoon as far as sunshine goes. but it may be is too much sunshine for some of us because temperatures will be warmer today than they were yesterday. right now it's low to mid 50's for most of our current temperatures. light jacket kind of stuff at the most. as we move through the day today, you are going to see daytime highs rising further than they did yesterday for inland areas. it's going to set us up for a few upper 80's. even a couple of low 90's. i got the details on where you'll see those numbers all still to come

employees and customers were still around. rovers amanda hari spoke with the victim as video of that attack. >> it was business as usual at master tent in richmond on monday. but its owner is still shaken up over what happened friday afternoon. the incident is captured on surveillance video. 3 men pull into the parking lot in a white car. they back up to the open garage and then 2 of the men jumped out pointing what looks like guns into the business. you can hear one employees screaming as one of the man approaches her. >> you'll hear just working. >> i make no money. no going to have your life. and like somebody just comes in and rob you, it's like it's not safe owner marcelo junior says he was in a side room. you heard all the commotion and ran outside to grab me and then i i fall on the ground right? >> and then they were looking. they were looking for my chain for my chain weather channel, which and i do have an you can see the men standing over

was shot and injured in a state trooper was hospitalized in that incident. no word yet on the identity of the gunman or a possible motive. and the highway patrol are investigating a shooting that happened just after 3.30, monday in oakland. officers say that incident happened on westbound interstate 5.80. all right. nice to 14th avenue where someone shot at a vehicle victim nor anyone else was injured. is asking anyone with information about that incident to call their office. about 3,000 teachers in oakland unified will return to the classroom this morning after being on strike. teachers in the district reached an agreement early monday morning about that yesterday after 7 days picketing kron four's rob nesbitt has that story. >> the windows in the negotiating room. cameras captured the moment members of the oakland education association celebrate their contract agreement with the oakland unified school district. finally getting the district to agree on their common good requests assistance on how students

shared governance. >> and more resources for historically black thriving community schools, schools with 40% or more black students. the agreement also includes investments in school. librarians guidance counselors and school nurses when it comes to compensation. the district says there will be 10% raises for teachers. >> and one time bonuses of $5,000 district superintendent doctor kyla johnson trim mel says she's committed to rebuilding the trust of teachers. >> we could position ourselves to pay our teachers and educators. what they deserve. and i want to underscore, we realize we're not there yet. this is one crucial step towards getting there. the district's chief governance officer josh daniel says the only common good goal that has a direct cost implication is the investment in black community schools and it has 5 teachers special assignment that will need to be created and maintained for the that's 3 years class is scheduled to resume tuesday with futures off the picket lines and back in the classroom. the first graduation scheduled for oakland high school may 22nd according to the district. no

school days will need to be added to the calendar because of class time missed, we're able to bring students back into schools in a way to a better. then we left them. >> well, that was kron four's. rob nesbitt reporting for us this morning. according to the district teachers will not be paid for the time that they were out of the classroom during that strike. well, in a few months, student loan borrowers, they're going to start paying back their loans again because the secretary of education confirmed agency starting to prep to restart federal student loan payments after a 3 year pandemic pause officials say payments could start in october and loan servicers have to notify borrowers of the restarts after august 31st. the current biden administration plan on student loan forgiveness that's still being challenged in court. all right. new developments on the openai's baseball team moving to las vegas azar building team off the field and it includes follies and our valleys,

rather and a stadium on the site of tropicana there on the strip. how payne has that story? >> what we know now is that this is an opportunity for las vegas and stated honestly to expand their sports. president's state senator scott letting us know what he knows and valleys announced stadium will occupy 9 of the 35 acre tropicana site. it will hold 30,000 fans to cheer on the a's over 81 regular season home games and they project 2 and a half million people to visit every year. what we also know is that they're really concentrating on this site tropicana and him and also told 8 news now, but he doesn't know. and so we still know how large of an ask, like how much money is going to cost taxpayers and what's the return on the investment? >> before the a's decided to switch development sites and signs of tropicana. have they were asking for half a billion dollars in tax breaks. now they say it might only be 395 million. >> all of that is up to the

legislature. but what's the timeline as far as the bill? not sure exactly when it's going to come. the bill might get introduced sometime this week. they're waiting for results of a traffic study, but nobody really knows what will be in it or who will introduce it. >> as between the state senate and the assembly, potentially even the governor last week, the a's worked out a deal with the powerful nevada, culinary. >> it has more than 60,000 workers mostly in and around las vegas. that will give a's workers the right to organize a negotiate union contracts in the meantime, bally's is fielding calls from interested developers, one real estate developer who pledged to 175 million to help improve the tropicana site. so we know that this is a great opportunity. >> and that was kyle paine reporting. lawmakers are in session until june 5th. >> state senator hammond says it's plenty of time to get that bill to vote senate and the assembly. he projects a new ballpark open in time for 2027. the a's are expected to play in oakland next season until their lease runs out. we're asked for now we asked for an interview with the a's

>> well, in the south bay long planned food prevention work along coyote creek in san jose is under way. the okay. flood prevention work. the work is expected to continue for months. forcing lot of the people who live along the creek have to leave. well, first, charles clifford has that story for us. >> back in 2017 flooding along coyote creek here in san jose forced thousands of people to flee. since then the city of santa clara valley water district and then working on a plan to improve flood protection along the creek. that work began on the ground. unfortunately, there are many people who live along coyote creek are being forced to leave on monday. the city of san jose begin clearing a four-mile stretch of coyote creek from oakland road to interstate 2.80.

>> as a result, a large number of homeless camps and debris will be removed. the city has told those living here that anyone found staying along the creek after may 15th, we'll be trespassing. this is moving living people out. >> with no place to go. francesca paste is a homeless advocate. she's concerned that not enough effort has been put into making sure the people who have to leave coyote creek have somewhere to go. this is just perfect insanity. you're moving. human beings are retraumatizing them. you're taking away what they've lived in for 3 or more years here. we people to get up monday afternoon. san jose mayor matt mahan conceded that many of those who are being forced from coyote creek may not be able to find shelter. he says the city needs to prioritize creating temporary housing for just that reason. it's the very lack of places. >> for people to go, that has me so concern to the extent that we can offer them an alternative. it's because >> we don't have more sites

persistently dry to this forecast. nothing coming through interrupt that trend. now we do have are foggy. mornings are sunny afternoons. that is something that continues each and every morning as we round out this weekend work our way into the eventual weekend. the good thing is, though, if you don't love these near 2.90, degree day time highs, we back up some of that heat for this in mind. as for temps in san francisco to be 60's, same for you at the coast are most mild areas while 70's for most of the bay shore. areas like foster city. at 75 redwood city in palo alto at 79. as for the south bay, it will be low to mid 80's for your daytime highs today. looking at upper 70's for free mott. well, livermore near 90 87. same for you in walnut creek and concord. a couple low 90's for antioch in vacaville. i know it's warm, but today is really the last day that we should be seeing those 90's in the forecast after today. we are cooling down consistently taking us to the low 80's by the start of the weekend in london, low 70's by the bay

compares it to facial features of their id with basic biographical information. i think it's pretty our phones do it every day. so i feel like it's not much of a change from what we usually do on a daily bases. tsa says the goal of the new technology is to improve safety through security checkpoints, but it is raising some privacy concerns. i do have some concerns about how facial recognition works. that definitely heard it's not always accurate, especially for people with darker complexions, that it can get a lot of things and professor of cybersecurity at san jose state university says he also has some reservations about the technology you know, they can ice people with all different scanners, different, you know. >> and that confused about, you know, the picture and about the person should be no concerns for your privacy or the government maintaining or keeping this information. tsa spokesperson lorie dankers says your privacy is safe.
