>> good morning. 05:00am here on the kron. 4 morning news. thank you so much for joining us. i'm james fletcher right rv in for darya full. so we've been talking about just how cold idaho outright call is. morning. it's been as bad this morning. we'll find out get along in for john trouble this morning talking about the good had to. >> wake up a little earlier than usual. but you get to us. i'm excited to see when it it's a sunrise, but here's golden gate right now. so it's still dark out there. but you do see the clouds rolling in and temperatures. right now we're waking up to widespread 40's at lower 40's to mid to upper 40's across the bay area. 39 in redwood city looking chilly over there and 50 degrees in san francisco. so quite warm in the city and this tuesday morning. now we do have a storm tracker 4 here, not showing much activity, but we are seeing a change in the weather pattern.

so we spring-like temperatures. will those temperatures are expected dip for the remainder of the week. and as for today, we have some strong winds to tell you about. we have a high wind advisory that goes into effect starting 01:00pm and that's going to stay there until wednesday tomorrow. 01:00pm for the entire bay area. we're talking wind gusts. 25 to 35 miles per hour. and 55 miles per hour. the higher elevation and we really have an active weather pattern this week. so we're also talking about rain and the snow. back to you guys. all right. thanks for that. let's go ahead and check on your morning drive traveling into the city this morning. >> it's going take about 7 minutes to make it maze to that fremont street exit. how about our san mateo bridge, 80 to 101 just under 13 minutes traveling across towards the peninsula. richmond, sandra fell bridge about 7 minutes there and the golden gate bridge. 37 to the tolls going to take about 19 minutes on this tuesday morning. >> all right, 5, 0, 1 o'clock. and let's get to our big story this morning. bay area.

doctors now sounding the alarm is apparently the norovirus is on the rise here in the bay area. officials say the virus is most serious for children and the elderly kron four's. michael thomas live here in the studio with that story. good morning, michael. >> hey, good morning, that's right. now talked a little bit about this last week. the norovirus known as the stomach flu or the above. but, you know, take a look right here. what we're talking about, this is all according to wastewater scan dot org. you can see these numbers just rising all the way across the board and these right here. we're talking about fremont, newark, pacifica, all the way down and shows us exactly how much. and recently if we go over to february 19th just a few days ago rising here, but then it dropped. but over in this area, it went in rise again. let's get you a closer look at exactly what we're talking about on this chart onto your screen now. you know, again, we talked about a little bit about this last week, but really what it is is a stomach flu or the stomach bug. it's a virus, however, and it's highly contagious. it spreads

very quickly from person to person and can be spread through contaminated food surfaces, hands, water and utensils, not neighboring counties like pacifica and contra costa. also are seeing a rise telling us that it is hard to track because it is not mandated that people get tested. but the symptoms are there in a lot of people just last week, marin county sent out a notice to parents warning of a possible outbreak is the virus will most likely affect young kids and elderly adults. now, let's get details on your screen regarding some of the symptoms and the biggest symptoms, vomiting and diarrhea. but it can also be accompanied by nausea. abdominal pain, cramps. body aches, headaches, and even low grade fevers. at times. >> now, most will heal within one to 3 days but can last up to a week. and when you have that stomach bug that is a long time. now. if you do have symptoms, you test positive for it. you should stay home for 2 days. most importantly, health officials say that you should be washing our hands

constantly and staying away from anyone may have the symptoms. excuse lots of information there. i did reach out to officials not only with the water sewage company, but also with the county to see if we're seeing these right now, it's being tested in that water. again, one of the main symptoms is diarrhea us to do with that information, what you will. but that's the latest in what we know right now. the numbers continue to grow and will continue to keep you updated. but i'll send it back to the desk. all right, michael, thank you so much for that update. >> now to another update to a story we first brought you yesterday morning. the oldest church in the east bay is now red tagged meaning it's unsafe to use a massive fire destroyed the first african methodist episcopal church in oakland. kron four's sarah stinson spoke with the senior pastor there to learn how much this is really affecting our community. >> i spoke with the senior pastor at same. he says it's been a devastating time, but he's confident they're going to be able to rebuild, especially with all of oakland

rallying behind them. we're going to make a plan to. >> and rise again out of the ashes. reverend doctor rodney smith is keeping the faith that the first african methodist episcopal church or fame. >> we'll be able to reopen. he was in a state of shock on sunday night when he arrived at the church after went up in flames around 11:30am, at a loss for. more than 60 firefighters rush to fame on the corner of 37th and telegraph avenue try and stop it from burning down. but the nearly 200 year-old building was destroyed, literally see right through the roof. >> the destruction of what was left. it was pretty difficult for our members of community. because spain has been such a pillar in our community for so long that didn't stop the fame community for more shipping. >> monday morning they gathered at a nearby church for prayer during this

difficult time. we are here too. >> so this community that we all work together, miracles really do have it. and so the first step is really just assessing the damage. >> we don't know what that is at this point. >> the church says it feeds 300 plus people a week. pastor smith says he's working to figure out how they can continue to serve those people. >> that's going to be difficult. because we don't have the physical building to do that. but there are community leaders who reached out who are, you know, asking us and partner with u.s. team has been there for the community since it first opened in 18, 58 and now the community showing up for the can has just really showed up. >> what i see happening this community >> is exactly the love that they're giving to us is the love that we hope and pray that we've given back to this community. i spoke with council member carol fife. she said she's working to figure

out if there's a city-owned building they could use for the church so that they can continue to feed the hundreds of people that they do each week. >> if she's working to see if they can get the church local, state and federal financial support. i'm sara stinson reporting in the newsroom. back to you. >> sarah, thank you very much. and also happening right now, police in gilroy are looking for this 14 year-old boy. take a good look. his name is neal. now second he's been missing since friday, last seen at junior high school at a school dance. police say he was wearing a black hooded sweater, black pants, stock martin's and a black mask. neal has brown hair. gray eyes stands about 5 feet. 2 inches tall. weighs about 100 pounds. they say he's known to frequent parks throughout gilroy fit any idea where he is? please call police. >> a woman is recovering this morning after being shot at an apartment complex in san ramon. that shooting was reported on saturday at an apartment complex on water someplace. when officers arrived, they found her

suffering from a gunshot wound. she was taken to a hospital where she is in stable condition. no other information has been released about that incident. >> all right. 507, in the south bay. google's plan for a mega campus in downtown san jose now facing some obstacles and that's forcing the company to reassess the project. got to go back to the drawing board. this is bad news for the city because >> 25,000 jobs are at stake as well as 155 million dollars for the city. yeah. kron four's will tran following the story for joining us live from san jose with the latest. good morning. well, >> james, them acre campus will be near as ap center and the diridon station. they have not started construction yet. and the little carry out all this is google cannot and will not release about 155 million dollars in community funds unless their employees get inside the buildings. and right now it looks like google might be putting the brakes on this plan which was approved

just 2 years ago. so rain it. you did talk about that. make a campus is expected to bring 25,000 jobs stores. it will help the city of san jose deal with this homeless problem in downtown hoses. san jose, a big win for san jose and fact they're even calling it the grand central of the west coast. if it's built. but here's the problem. google is not saying that they're fully committed to this is that it looks like they're backing off just a little bit reassessing the problem of the situation, i should say. and on another caveat, money could be an issue because google james, we just did the story recently that google did announce that they're laying off about 6% of its workforce. 12,000 employees worldwide. 1200 in the bay area from that 12,000. so it looks like google is probably going to scale back just a little bit. so obviously, when you're scaling back building might not be

something looking forward to doing. but we'll just have to wait and see everything is up in the air. the scent city of san jose is still hopeful that google moves forward. obviously we're talking jobs and not just some millions. hundreds, millions of dollars at stakea guys, look to you. >> why? okay. lot on the line. thank you. we'll story. we're certainly going to follow. all right, where there's one city that's actually become the fastest growing in the state. and it's right here in the bay area. >> data from the u.s. census shows that the population in dublin actually grew for 46,000, more than 70,000, 2020 10 2020, it's more than 50% in response to the increase to see ramped up that housing development. but with so many people trying to move in, it's become harder and harder to find housing available on the market. a broker associate with century 21st real estate shows at although they've seen a dip in home prices saying they might not last.

>> well, in the south bay, as we prepare for some chilly and cold weather. santa clara county officials are making sure the unhoused are taken santa clara county coroner says 28 homeless people died

this year. officials say weather plays a key role in that last time there was a cold snap percent call way multiple people died city in the county. they plan to open up overnight. warming centers. yes, on cartwright with an house response group. that's a homeless advocacy group. they've been passing out blankets and necessities to unsheltered people. they say that 2 overnight shelters are just not enough. >> only have 2 overnight warming locations for, you know, 8,000 people. so that only that's for like 50 people out of 8,000. and for people, you can only take one animal, you can only take one bag of belongings. and that's just for a lot of people. that's completely impractical. >> if you or anyone else, you know, needs help finding a place to stay warm. you can go ahead and call these hotlines. we have 2, 1, 1, that's for health and human services or 408, 385-2400. our 4, 0, 8, 5,

talking wind speeds at 25 to 35 miles per hour. you mix that with those cooler temperatures. we're starting to see possibly wednesday. and then until sunday and a 55 gust up to the higher elevations that future cast for again showing quiet here on tuesday. but watch what happens. i'll come wednesday. we're going to see system that will be impacting the coast really. and mixed with those cold temperatures. i mentioned so wednesday morning you're going to even some snow in the mountain tops the higher elevation and the rain really is expected to continue until thursday. so again, those cold temperatures arriving wednesday morning. that should last through sunday and we'll have a frost advisories and freeze watches that has been issued for thursday morning. so you want to plan ahead for that. yes, so you want there is wednesday and thursday are the days we are looking out for that wet weather pattern and high temperatures today we're seeing upper 40's in san

francisco, upper 40's in daly, city pacifica along the peninsula. same thing for you to over at san mateo san carlos. 46 and to the south bay. we're seeing upper 40's and 50's. 51 in san jose and heading to alameda county. we're seeing really just mid 50's up mid mid 40's low 50's across the bay area. so that's quite a change from what we saw over the last couple days. we had those spring-like temperatures. a look ahead at your your forecast for the week. we're going to start to see that wet pattern really wednesday into thursday. that snow showers really continue friday. and it's really going to stay quite cold for the rest of the week and we'll see another wet pattern, possibly. and next week, monday, tuesday, jason rae, now back to you. all right. hey, look at those cold out there. so just make sure you bundle up to the best of your ability travel into the city this morning. 8 minutes yesterday was a holiday. so like you guys are not out on the roads

of foreign that recognizes the importance of the relationship but but still seeking ultimately a piece in the region. >> well, representative cano said that his reason for visiting taiwan is to learn more about the island's role in the semiconductor industry. the delegation is set to meet with the taiwanese president and business leaders in the coming days. >> and president biden is in poland to rally global allies. he's set to meet with other world leaders to talk about support for ukraine. hannah brandt actually has the latest from washington. >> for the next couple of days, president biden will be in europe meeting with those key allies who also been supporting ukraine and they'll be discussing next steps as this war enters into its second year. president biden traveled by train to poland from kiev. >> were his surprise visit was punctuated by air raid sirens. but we're a sharp reminder of why he made the trip to ukraine. i'm here assure on

>> good morning. thank you all so much. we are here in the plains, georgia, about 150 miles south of atlanta. and right now, still no update on president carter's held. we assume that he is having a nice warm cup of coffee year in plains. we smell the peanuts here. in fact, we're standing right in front of his campaign headquarters in plains, georgia. there's a sidewalk here to my right. it says plains, all about presidential politics and pete, out to many locals and tourists coming to main street here in planes to get a glimpse of former president jimmy carter. >> from near and far, tourists like the madonna is it trickled in the plains, georgia after former u.s. president jimmy carter announced he would offer hospice care at home. >> my mind is stepping back into time. all those stores, it's i i'm just amazed that that i want to go through all of it. but so impressed with jimmy carter when he was

president and everything is done since and we've got close. we have to stop by plains, georgia, as a small town of about 600 people about an hour and a half south atlanta. this is where former u.s. president jimmy carter spent most of his time both as a child. and after his time in the white house. >> when you think of a small town like planes will, it doesn't get smaller than this old antique stores pharmacies cafes and many tourists taking in a moment which they call a piece of history. >> this is fantastic. it is like a movie set. this is really i can't believe i'm really here in his hometown of from kenya overhead career remembers humanitarian work back in his home country mall soul. you know, he was a ball refugees, climate elections in guiding doesn't love for terms of shipping them into the right direction as he grew older with the habitat for humanity, i became more

community members in oakland are calling on mayor sheng tao to reinstate former police chief leronne armstrong. he is weighing his own legal options that how fired him following the federal monitors investigation into the former chief's handling all of a pair of policemen conduct investigations. the former chief has indicated his firing actually falls out of the round of wrongful termination. however, before he can file a lawsuit in court, he first has to file an administrative appeal with the city and his representative. sam singer also represented former opd chief anne kirkpatrick, who you may remember was also fired without cause by then mayor libby schaff following a report from that federal monitor singer says the new mayor appears to be making a similar decision that will likely cost oakland taxpayers. >> cost 0.5 million so it goes to show that city as bad track record in how it handles police chief. i think when you look at the the outpouring of

support for chief armstrong merely a terrible strategic you need it. they have political judgment. >> across reached out to oakland mayor saying tao and we have not heard back just yet >> elsewhere in the east bay, some are unhappy with mayor sheng taos decision to fire long armstrong as the city's police chief. however, some community groups are supporting the mayor as well. and that includes the oakland education association, the group east bay action and the anti-police terror project with which they say works to eliminate police tear in communities of color. executive director kat brooks released a statement saying in part, quote, this was a bold and courageous move. this is an important first step in decades of little to 0 accountability for this department. end quote. her organization claims armstrong lied about the department being defunded at about officers using excessive force, including tear gas. >> meanwhile, in san francisco, we have heavy concrete barriers that were placed on capp street to

reduce the number of john's cruising for work are being caught on safe. the san francisco firefighters union called there is unsafe and selfish saying the decision to put the barriers could lead to dire consequences. they say the bear is make it really hard for fire engines to accessed street this weekend. city supervisor hillary ronen, our staff spoke to the chief about the union's concerns. >> the goal is to disrupt the cruising of the behavior that's associated with the trade. you know, i think looking at it from that land, you know, what can be accomplished in a way that will fit to accomplish that goal, but also allow for the trucks to get through. >> the meeting is set up for today to come up with some solutions that are going to meet the needs of all parties involved. >> well, still ahead on the kron, 4 morning news, the landscape of gun ownership vastly change within the past 2 years. we're going to tell you the group of people signing up for a license to carry more and more and why they say it's important. plus, california could soon have a
