well, it can. national university. supporting the whole you. >> from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news at 6. >> after talking any we're looking at roughly a residents and customers without power right now affecting the city of atlanta. >> now at 6, a major power outage in the east bay leaves more than 50,000 pg and e customers without power. thanks for joining us here on kron. 4 news at 6. >> i'm noelle bellow and i'm dan thorn. the power outages began just before 1 o'clock this afternoon and are impacting a large portion of oakland at its peak pg. any reported just over 54,000 customers were without power. that included the oakland

international airport, which has since been restored along with the city of alameda kron 4 sarah stinson joining us live from oakland international airport with more on how the travelers are being impacted. sarah. >> well, dan power is back on here at the oakland airport for but for about 2 hours, it really started to look like the old days here using everything that everything inside goes electronically, the ticket system, tsa, everything and all had to go manual. >> and everything was shut the machines weren't working the conveyor belts. more thing. so everybody lined up. >> this is cell phone video showing a lines of people oakland airport when the power >> but fire at a pg e substation near 50th avenue and coliseum way. >> around one sunday afternoon we were able to gain access into the pga yard and found

that there was a a transformer actively burning inside of the art. >> oakland, fire crews put out the flames, but the damage was already done over 50,000 customers lost power in oakland and alameda. it caused many delays at the airport as planes were taking off and landing. they announced that there was a power outage. so it would leave would be delayed to the board. thought story was flying into oakland from phoenix. her plane had to wait on the tarmacs. fortunately at say 45 minutes tops. we were able to get off the jet and then we just had to get off the runway off to the side. so planes could land. >> i could look up at the terminal suit was all dark. so that was kind of interesting pg e and the oakland fire department are still investigating the cause of this fire. says that they are have to wait to be able really look at all the equipment to be able to realize and try to figure out what the what the cause of the fire even though the fire was controlled at the

pga yard, tsa had its own fire to put out with security lines growing. >> it wasn't until about 3 in the afternoon. the tsa line started moving again. flyers say they were impressed with how the airport employees handled it all in and have conveyor belt to have the emily you know. >> but they did that great job. >> and it's true. it was impressive to see how quickly all the employees here at the oakland airport quickly jumped into action. now, while the power is back on here at the airport, this power outage is still very much an issue for people in oakland and alameda. thankfully, it wasn't too long before they got the lights on here because noel dan, you can only imagine if it had been more hours, the ripple effect that that causes not only at this airport but connecting airport as well. i'm sarah stinson reporting live in oakland. back to you. >> sarah, thanks a lot. let's take a live look right now at

pg and e's outage website. as you can see, power still out for a large portion of oakland of that red. right? there is where the outages are happening. more than 47,000 customers right now are still without power. >> power was restored, though, to alameda sometime after 05:00pm this evening. alameda power officials said there was an issue with a pg e transmission line. it left the posey and webster tubes as the only ways in or out of alameda for much of this afternoon's, you can imagine the traffic that folks were dealing with. you can see those cars were piled up, trying to get over the park street bridge earlier today, many businesses had to shut down for the day as they were unable to operate without power. others tried to work through the outage. >> i originally thought i believe the good news because i was mixing what was going on that i for sunday like it's kind of chaotic busier days. most people come here for our

softer. so, you know, partners, officer people have been coming and he's about stuck out there. >> shop did close about an hour earlier than usual today. they told us they sold a lot of cold brew other places, especially large chains like whole. maybe starbucks, tj maxx. they weren't open. all alameda trader joe's, though, did set up a generator about an hour ago, which allowed them to reopen even before power was back on. this is a live look there outside the store. looks like things are slowly returning back to normal. there. >> on the good news or at least some good developments. well, now to some more about what's been happening on the bay bridge. as you can see here, traffic moving again following a collision that blocked the westbound lanes. this happened around 4.30, this afternoon. clearly a lot of people still trying to get into the city right now. so traffic still backed up, but it's unclear if anybody was injured in that earlier crash, firefighters blocking several lanes causing quite a bit of traffic. so we do want to get

you a look at your 4 zone forecast is of course, we're taking a live look outside right now. it's been i mean, when we saw sarah's live shot there from full there. >> i'm brittany, what's going on? you know, it has been a beautiful day, actually. i notice and the swimming pool today and i had to double check and say, oh, my goodness, it is february. people out swimming. >> as head like temperatures is going to be warm tomorrow to so tonight as we roll into tonight can be a little bit warmer than last night. we're going to be in the 40's tomorrow. as you wake up, it's going to be a chilly morning. i also noticed a foggy start for some. so if you have to work tomorrow, i want to make sure you're prepared. but the big story later this week is going to be those when or whether it is returning had the possibility of rain, chilly temperatures, windy conditions as well. so taking a look right now again as we speak temperatures right now, a lot like yesterday, not too breezy. that's the good news. san francisco kind of breezy for you. but overall, we're at 53 oakland, 56, san jose. 57 livermore. 61 to those

>> a family living next door to the house that exploded in san francisco say they have to find a new home. the guard family's house on 22nd avenue was ruined when a powerful blast destroyed their neighbor's house 10 days ago. that neighbor 53 year-old darron price has been charged with multiple felonies, including drug manufacturing price's wife also died in the blast. the guard family says they're happy to be safe, but many of their belongings were destroyed in that house. they had been renting it for close to 9 years. >> thankful that we want that's the most important thing. we lives and we have a health is just. break horrible and the mess. >> the garth family says that they are grateful for the support they've been getting from their community. they also say they do not feel any anger toward price, but they are surprised that the judge is allowing him to be out of

and as kron four's, justin campbell explains, it's not the first fire at that location. >> you can see this fire all the way from san jose this morning. the smoke in the air. >> look at the video that we got. you can see the fire shooting out of the room. the fire department tells us no one was injured. no one was inside of the building at the time. it wasn't a good building. what neighbors in the area say that this shouldn't have happened because it was a fire roughly 6 months ago. and they're disappointed in seeing that this happened again. >> it it's it's sad. and it said they would take care of the building pertain i don't think happen. it's very prevented. it was secured the first time, but it just got forced into again people seeking shelter. so unfortunately, that is what happened. now. the fire department says they are going to work as hard as they can to contact the owner and make sure that this building is torn down. >> or boarded up properly secure to make sure that on

house people are not living inside of this building. reporting here in san leandro, justin campbell kron. 4 news. >> in the south bay to deadly early morning crashes are now under investigation. at least one person dead after a crash on highway 101 in san jose happened south of story road around 4.20, this morning. there you can see a red pickup truck flipped on its roof and another car also crash up against the center divider. chp did close down the northbound lanes for about 2 hours this morning. it has since reopened about 30 minutes after that crash. there was another deadly accident. this one on highway 87. >> just south of curtner avenue, chp saying the accident involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. the pedestrian was killed in this crash. no other details have been released. >> new images tonight of one of california's largest reservoir is giving us a good look at the recent rainfall

impact on our drought. this is a 2021 photo of lake oroville that showed no little to no water. this, though, is what it looks like this year. lake oroville is the second-largest reservoir in the state and officials say it's currently 115% above average. this time of year. while there still is a long way to go, experts say recent heavy downpours are helping the state recover from its historic years long drought state officials have increased water supplies to cities from 5% to 30%. thanks to these new water levels while the out those images from 2021, it looks just like a little streamer edible. yeah, little baby stream. and now look at that. you turn on the good news, right? i mean, i don't think we have any rain in the forecast. doesn't look like know at sfo. beautiful tonight. out there. we like that kind of a weather, right? blue. yeah, yes, we do. like i said, we know there's a lot of people downtown, little chilly. but overall it felt like a spring-like day when you think about it is

looking too bad. if you have to go to work tomorrow and those highs. take a look at your screen. santa rosa. you could hit 71 degrees tomorrow. so above average temperatures for you, half moon bay. we're looking at 60 san francisco, 60, even morgan hill. we're looking at 69. so again, those temperatures are going to be warmer. that high pressure system bringing us those warmer temperatures. but as that low, that's going to drop down those temperatures. so again, we're going to watch for colder temperatures. we have the possibility of showers will start to see that dip in temperatures on wednesday. but tuesday is going to be very breezy. so enjoy tomorrow. that's my takeaway. you mentioned that people are off tomorrow completely. yeah. yeah. that's especially if it's a mother looking like that, it's going to thanks for >> well, a group of balloon hobby us think they might have accidentally landed in the cross hairs of the u.s. military. the club says they launched a high altitude balloon 4 months ago and we're tracking it as it made its way across the globe. while the aircraft actually went missing
