the hands of 5 members of memphis. police. >> was released on friday. all 5 of those officers have been fired and charged with second degree murder communities across the bay area are coming to terms with what happened. kron four's amanda hari was at an event with san francisco's chief of police today. amanda, what if you have to say? >> everyone at the meeting had a similar reaction to seeing the video of the arrest shock and disgust. they also said they wanted to make sure nothing like this happens in the bay area. >> religious leaders, community members and even police chief bill scott all coming together to prevent another tragedy. they were discussing the death of tyree nichols and what measures need to be taken to prevent police brutality in the bay area brings us together and what he calls chief scott says he condemns what happened in memphis along with shocking u.s.. there's no place for that. in this profession. nichols was pulled over on january 7th for what police say was reckless driving body

camera and street lamp camera footage shows a group of officers repeatedly beating nichols as he cries for his mother. nichols died 3 days later. chief scott says this incident is impacting police departments around the country that back and we have to keep doing what we need to do to continue to change for the better chief. scott says he holds people accountable and his department in a fair way to process. they also have a special unit created to prevent these types of incidents. the name of that in field training course options. and that is what they do for time. examine. >> procedures are protocols, tactical situations. >> and they come out of that lesson learned. so officers can train to be better. >> ordination on leadership. even when the sergeant is not president. retired police captain yolanda williams also spoke at the event. >> she says she was even more

disappointed that 5 black officers were responsible for the beating. they also discredited to a certain extent black police officers. we fought so hard to become and police agencies for you. it was hard as it as a black person to get through it successfully. and then here we have 5 officers. >> with less than 6 years service who have actually destroyed everything we have for. >> chief scott said they haven't had any issues with protesting or vandalism so far this weekend following the video's release. but he wants people to know it's their right to protest. he just asks people to do it peacefully in the newsroom. amanda hari kron, 4 amanda, thank you. a gofundme account set up for tyree. nichols has already passed more than 1 million dollars in donations. >> those donations pouring in after the page was created yesterday. it is already on its way of making the goal of

1.2 million dollars. we want to get your check of your 4 zone forecast tonight. parts of the bay area will be under a freeze warning and frost advisory starting at midnight. yeah, it's going to get cold kron. 4 meteorologist rodriguez joining us with a look at just how cold it's going to get recent. yeah, we're tracking subfreezing temperatures below. 32 degrees expected for our coldest inland valleys. >> in the north bay and east bay and frost advisories for most of the bay area coastline and east bay shoreline. so we're going to feel it from coastal valleys. everyone going to be under that winter chill radar for right now. tracking a drier conditions, starting to clear out as well. now that that weak storm has passed, brought those of you in concord about less than a 10th of an inch of rain or less. but it's that cool. dry air mass and that lack of blanket of storm cloud cover that temperatures are really going to dip. so right now we're seeing pretty uniform numbers mid to upper 40's for most of the bay area. but we are expecting to see

temperatures below 32 degrees at freezing threshold. for those of you in santa rosa and livermore just to name a few. so heads up and bundle up there. in addition to that, we have a wind advisory mainly for north bay valleys and highest peaks. that's in effect right now through monday afternoon because we could actually see wind gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour or less. and those winds starting to howl for our highest peaks in the north bay, napa and fairfield sustained winds at 20 miles per hour. but it's out of the north. so it is going to have an offshore flow event. but as you can see, we are going to see some pretty gusty winds for our highest peaks, including atlas peak in calistoga throughout the overnight hours until we finally noticed calmer conditions by monday afternoon. but that cool dry air mass is going to remain in place on monday with a freeze watch monday night through tuesday morning. those chilly overnight. temperatures going to continue through midweek more. my full forecast in just a few minutes standing. well, back to you. these

temperatures, of course, can be dangerous for those experiencing homelessness. santa clara county. >> has opened some warming centers for community members to stay out of the frigid temps. officials say people in san jose who need overnight shelter can reach out to the phone number or the email that you see on your screen. we also have a list of the warming centers across that county on our website. kron 4 dot com. >> in the east bay, fire crews responding to a 2 story apartment building engulfed in flames. this is in oakland. it happened at a complex on bourke street near 90th avenue early this morning. fire crews say everyone inside the home was evacuated safely and the property will be salvageable in the north bay. 9 people are without a home tonight after a house fire there in rohnert park. it broke out last night on bernie sabha noon. firefighters responded to the blaze in the home's garage quickly spread to the home. officials say the garage had been converted into a living quarters in total damage was estimated to be about a half a million dollars. all 9 residents were displaced in

the cause is still under investigation. >> and in santa rosa, firefighters put out a blaze at an abandoned warehouse. it broke out late last night on central avenue. 5 fire engines responded to the scene. quickly controlling those flames. and then searching the warehouse for anyone who may have been inside. no one was found. no injuries were reported. cause has not been determined yet. but firefighters did say they found evidence of people camping inside the building. damage is estimated at $150,000. >> developing news tonight, the man who drove his family off of the san mateo county ca lift crashing more than 200 feet below is in jail tonight. 41 year-old ash patel was released from the hospital and booked on suspicion of attempted murder and child abuse. investigators believe on january. second patel, who is a doctor and southern california resident intentionally drove his tesla off of the cliff with his wife and 2 young sons inside

miraculously, all of them survived the crash, but they did have serious injuries. but allen's being held at the san mateo county jail without bail. rain could come sometime tomorrow with the da moves forward with criminal charges. >> in other news tonight, forty-niners fall in philly. it was not the outcome. niners fans wanted to see in this game against the eagles. a watch party in san jose was packed with niners fans hoping the team would make it to the super bowl. kron 4 sarah stinson has reaction after the loss. >> san pedro square here in san jose was full of pumped up niners fans. but unfortunately, we didn't win and it ended with a lot of fans walking out of here with a long face. >> that that's who she confidential were pumped up at the beginning of the game with

tonight, we're learning more about the motive behind the mass shooting in half moon bay that left 7 people dead and a community. >> heartbroken california prosecutor told the bay area news group that a dispute over $100 work-related repair bill spurred the violence. 66 year-old to lead zhao told investigators he went to vent to his supervisor about the bill saying his co-worker was to blame for the crash between his forklift and the co-workers. bulldozer. the supervisor insisted zhao pay. then the rampage began challenge now facing several murder charges. he admitted to the killings in a jailhouse interview last week. >> we are also learning tonight the names of the victims killed in a shooting at a rental home just north of beverly hills this weekend. all 3 of them are women ranging in age from mid 20's to their early 30's, the

victims. 33 year-old eye ton of chicago. 29 year-old nina davis from boiling brook, illinois, a chicago suburb. and 26 year-old destiny. sense from buckeye, arizona. 3 women were shot inside a car sitting outside what police are calling a gathering at a short-term rental house in beverly crest early yesterday morning for other people were wounded in this shooting. police are still searching for suspects and a motive. but they say this was not a random attack. >> i want everyone to take the time. to grieve 2 more to cover. but after. i want us, the people of this nation. she take action. >> the man who stopped the monterey park shooter from carrying out another massacre was honored with the medal of courage earlier today. 26 year-old brandon size sprang into action when the shooter entered a dance studio and alhambra california, the

shooter had just shot 10 people and wounded 10 others at a dance studio in monterey park. tsai was able to wrestle the gun away. the alhambra police department recognized sigh at a city new lunar new year celebration today. >> other news tonight, ticketmaster live nation still in the hot seat for its response to the taylor swift ticket disaster. a top company exec face tough questions during a senate judiciary hearing last week. john muller gives us a closer look. >> the only way to restore competition in this industry is to break up ticketmaster and live nation experts called before the senate judiciary committee were blunt and clear saying live nation ticketmaster must be broken up its outsized role in the industry came to a shocking head during taylor swift's pre-concert sale debacle in november. long wait times, massive technical issues and high prices. frustrated fans and broke swifty hearts

ticketmaster took the heat before senators but blamed high demand scalping. and most of all, computer bots for the meltdown. we knew butts would tack that on sale and planned accordingly. we were then hit with 3 times the amount of bot traffic that we've ever experienced. ticketmaster has more than 70% of the market for ticketing large events while simultaneously owning many of the concert venues and promoting them through live nation. senator amy klobuchar are said the swift to spotlighted. a problem that's existed for years. whether it's bruce springsteen or bts are bad bunny or in the past pearl jam or the pixies fans, artists and venues are facing real issues with live nation. experts say to get masters merger with live nation in 2010 set the stage for what one called a monopoly on par with standard oil of the early 19, 100's. >> that hurts concert goers, artists and smaller competitors across the live entertainment industry.

and 30's and overnight lows, especially for those of you in our coldest inland valleys in the north and east bay. you're actually going to be subfreezing livermore. 29 degrees for your overnight temperatures. santa rosa in the low 30's as he's conquered and even valais hope mid 30's around the bay area shoreline. so even our coastal cities that should be in the mid 40's this time of year. going to feel that winter chill overnight. so certainly bundle up. we felt the cold blast of air, especially from that week's storm that brought us really traces amount of rain, cool temperatures as well. for those of you in concord, you've got about a 10th of an inch of rain or less. 47 degrees. that was your daytime high. and just to put it in perspective, that should be your overnight temperature. you should be averaging low 60's this time of year. so easily, 12 degrees below average. and because of that lack a blanket of storm cloud cover temperatures really going to feel cooler tonight. we are tracking a drier and cooler air mass. now that that

storm has exited the bay area with widespread mid to upper 40's for most of the bay area downtown san francisco. 49 degrees as head a little bit. temperatures in the mid 40's already for sonoma, dublin and even livermore out there right now for your sunday night. so this is going to be one of the chilliest night for the next 7 days. high temperatures tomorrow, though, we are going to be slightly milder, but still 48 degrees below average, widespread low to mid 50's barely in the low 50's. for those of you in concord and livermore after your chilly start, you are going to have a difficult time climbing in reaching that low, 50 degree mark. so just a heads up there, downtown san francisco. 53 degrees with mid 50's for fremont and santa rosa. so temperatures going to stay cool to start out your upcoming work week forecast. but then by the 2nd half of the weekend, we are going to see milder temperatures, light shower chances. thursday night through friday. but then we will see a better chance of rain a week from today on sunday. so i know this storm

house speaker kevin mccarthy says that he's looking forward to discussing the debt ceiling with president biden. in an interview with cbs is face the nation. mccarthy said he wants to address spending cuts along with raising the debt limit. but the white house is refusing to pair those 2 together as the government tries to avoid a potentially devastating financial default. mccarthy is pledging that cuts to medicare and social security will be off the table. the wednesday meeting at the white house will be the first time he and the president will meet since he became house speaker. for your money tonight. if you bought a celsius energy drink in the last 7 years, you might be able to get some money back. a lawsuit claimed. >> the drink falsely promoted no preservatives on its label. celsius argues citric acid is used for flavor, but still decided to settle any way. that means if you bought celsius between 2015 through november of last year. you could get up to 250 bucks and this all you have to do is submit a claim on its website with a receipt by february.

>> that was mikala armstrong reporting for us tonight. new at 9, 1, of the twin babies rescued during an amber alert search in ohio has died. police say they were called to a home after receiving reports of baby kyair thomas on the right, not breathing. he was that rushed to the hospital where he later died. there's no word on a cause of death at this time. baby kyair and his brother cason were abducted in december when their moms running car was stolen outside of a pizza restaurant. kyair was found a few hours later. but case in wasn't found until days later inside the stolen car outside a pizza restaurant in indianapolis. the suspect knowledge jackson is now facing local and federal kidnapping charges. >> back here at home in the east bay, police have arrested a man who hit a person while drunk driving. it happened on shell mound street near the ikea and i-80 in emeryville yesterday afternoon. the person hit is now in critical condition. the driver of the

car ran from the scene but was caught a few blocks away. he is now facing several charges. >> police in south san francisco are looking for 2 suspects behind an armed robbery. officers say a business in the corner of grand in linden avenues was robbed at gunpoint around 2 o'clock friday afternoon after getting the money, the pair ran off on foot towards 3rd lane. anyone with any information about this is asked to call south san francisco police. >> a happy reunion tonight for the family of a french bulldogs stolen at gunpoint during an attempted carjacking last week. the owners of received a call from a vet clinic and allay saying someone had dropped the dog off. that person did not leave any information. even though reward was being offered on monday's owners were parked. >> in. >> at their apartment when 2 suspects with guns approached their car, they demanded them to hand over the one year-old pup. they also tried to steal the car, but they couldn't get it to start. the pair still on

leave behind a very cool and dry air mass. so still going to stay in the mid 20's, even with that extra sunshine for truckee and south lake tahoe. but then look at the warming trend in the coming days by tuesday. we're going to warm up 10 degrees into the mid 30's and then almost an additional 10 degrees on wednesday into the mid 40's. so we are going to see milder weather in the days ahead after monday's cold snap. but temperatures out there right now in the bay area certainly on the cool side checkout fairfax, 40 degrees with downtown san francisco, almost 10 degrees. milder flirting with 50's. but 49 degrees. so we are seeing widespread mid to upper 40's for those of you in the north bay because of those warm, dry, offshore breezes. so that's actually going to help keep you on. the mild is side with the exception of santa rosa. subfreezing temperatures there in the low 30's, even colder for those of you in livermore at 29 degrees. but napa and

avato actually going to warm up into the mid 30's. thanks to those warm, dry offshore breezes that will gust 50 to 60 miles per hour overnight and into your monday morning until we notice calmer winds speeds by monday afternoon. high temperatures tomorrow, though, out of the 40's for those of you in concord, 50 degrees for concord and livermore with mid-fifties around the bay area. shoreline, 2 of them, all the cities will be fremont and san jose. 55 degrees. but still about 48 degrees below average and we're going to start cool on monday. but then gradually warmed to seasonal temperatures by the 2nd half of this upcoming week with low 60's. by next saturday, a chance of rain a week from today. back to you, dan and well. >> lot from 4 is honoring black history through the end of february. tonight we bring you a case that not only shocked the world that would eventually forced the nation to take a hard look at our justice system. reporter ayana harry has more on the exonerated 5. >> many of may have lost many of us gave up on the system.

from allay and conquered santa rosa as well with mid 30's. so downtown san francisco not included in that frost advisory, but don't let your guard down. it's still going to be dangerously cold. 37 degrees with half moon bay. also in the mid 30's as well. gusty winds tonight, mainly far north bay valleys and highest peaks from now through monday afternoon. we could see wind gusts in that 50 to 60 miles per hour range. so we're getting that textbook example of those warm, dry, offshore breezes knapp and fairfield already starting to see those winds gusting in the 20 mile per hour range 30 to 40 miles per hour range already for our highest peaks in parts of the north bay. and we're going to continue to see that overnight, 50 to 60 miles per hour. wind gusts expected until we start to notice. calmer winds speeds for those of you in the north bay by monday afternoon. but off to a cool start for your work week monday until temperatures gradually start to warm up to seasonal temperatures by thursday and friday of this upcoming week. and then we
