9:04 am
you go. there's a better 1. remarks claimed sandwich shop boasts 5 star reviews the problem. for his business, he says his right outside his front door. my staff, each 1 of them has been smash and grab 4 times and that, he argues, is why his customers will be reluctant to walk from surrounding streets. for parking lots. if 32 spaces are about 40% of the parking on grand it is lost to the installation of new protected bike lanes. people don't want to be away from the cars. nafta area was police. properly. they wouldn't mind. so here is cava kava is a longtime client. for elizabeth macdonald. it is a concern about accessibility for long time clients or people carrying their animals. and she says. the corridor itself. is also vulnerable. so i think that it's no secret that a lot of small businesses in the bay area and brick and mortar businesses are struggling a little bit right now. we need
9:05 am
to be thinking about how to prevent deaths on our streets and we're not doing a good enough job right now. oakland started rolling out an extensive bicycle safety improvement plan back in 2019. advocates. say the protected lanes like those on telegraph offer, the most protection for cyclists and pedestrians. but these lanes do have a mixed reputation among business owners there has been pushback. in neighborhoods all across town. were off for biking. in the community, but i just don't think it's the thing for 14th street that was in 2020. and now the discussion comes over 2 grand avenue traffic planners have already altered the plans to reduce the parking impacts. but some say it is still too much. parking, to really make most businesses on the street. very concerned. yeah. if you lose parking unless people come neighbors are trying to organize and get the city to alter the plans further. we
9:06 am
were unable to reach anyone with the city of oakland today, but a website for the project says they will be accepting. public input. >gianna>okay, so some of those business owners on grand avenue well, they're worried they'll have the same issues as businesses across the bay in san francisco's mission district, they say sales took a huge hit since the city reconfigured. valencia street last summer to install protected bike lanes. the sf mt. ta plans to reevaluate the project in july. today, the federal communications commission is set to vote to restore something called net neutrality that would prohibit internet service providers from blocking or slowing down access. is to some websites. neutrality. 1st came into play under the obama administration, but went away in 2018 under trump's presidency. republicans say their way helped commerce on the web. >

9:08 am
to go back to in the constitution. the immunity, doctrine. is based on on what's called common law, which is a old law and principles. but there's not going to be an argument about the specific language of a part of the constitution. as there has been in different cases, so the justices will look toward the original purpose of having certain kinds of immunity from prosecution. >gianna>if the court rules against trump his trial on election interference charges could possibly start before the next election in november. a ruling is expected by early july. yeah. big shakeup in berkeley as an undergrad makes history for the city

afternoon the winds really do pick up. so while those thunderstorms are moving through the central valley, we've got relatively clear skies here. we're feeling the wind is that moves through, let's put some numbers on that you can pick out your part of the bay on here. there's that moment where the screen lights up. you've got 40 mile an hour gust along the coast, but it's really only like 2025. five mile an hour winds. for the majority of snow. wind advisories from this, but it's cooler because those are cold northerly winds. you get a bit of a wind chill effect on it. we're still only in the upper 60s tomorrow, but it will feel more like low 60s, maybe even upper 50s at times. so friday kind of a breezy and cool day. then we look ahead to saturday. watch the time stamp on there just to see on the future cast what it has to say about saturday. a lot more blue sky a little bit of a breeze left over. and slightly warmer. and that's the theme now in the 7 day forecast, so let's get specific on that and we'll take a look at that in terms of a warm past the friday wins saturday, where low 70s sunday
9:17 am
were mid 70s, and then it's off to the races and as we get into next week, we'll be looking at daytime highs inland anyway, that managed to climb into the low 80s. let's do this 1 more time, and we'll bring in the other 7 day forecast this 1 for the bay. and if you're not warming up to the low 80s, at least it'll be low 70s back here. yeah. >gianna>same story that microphone could we see the biggest drop of the year? we are keeping an eye on the dow after trump's more than 600
