day at least to keep the winning buzz going. good morning, ladies. >> good morning to you reed. there's quite the buzz here at the bellagio this morning. as the water show is in full effect it's not on now but it's beautiful here when it gets lit up. yesterday i was in the warm confines of radio row. coming up we're going to hear from mark shareth who has known christian mccaffrey since he was 2 years old. >> we are in the mecca of family fun. the nfl fan experience. and i wish i had my kids with me because i am literally hanging out with our part of our paramount family. the nickelodeon farnesene and we're going to talk about how much you can do when you bring your kids to vegas for the super bowl. so you know what? let's get started! >> i grew up in toronto. and loved joe montana. loved the niners growing up. >> the faithful as a family. flying in force for sunday's super bowl. know this, bay area. you are a part of this on

francisco. you see grace cathedral down there. somebody say a few prayers for the 49ers and make sure that we have the angels all around us so to speak this weekend. let's talk about the weather with jess. good morning. >> yes, say all prayers and we know we're going to win anyways. on the beautiful friday morning. we made it to the wield and it's going to be gorgeous one. this afternoon we're expecting some partly cloudy skies. and drier conditions today and sunshine into the forecast this weekend. that is such a nice treat after what we dealt with earlier this week. now we're starting off pretty chilly upper 30s in the santa clara valley. low 40s into san francisco. and mid- to low 30s all the way up closer to areas like petaluma and santa rosa but look what's happening the next couple of days. here's the weather headlines and they're perfect actually. we have drier conditions heading into the weekend. warmer temperatures into this weekend and earl application week. and no rain in the forecast until late next week. get there when we get there. but the look at the

satellite imagery this morning: this is painting a very good picture to what we're going to see today and tomorrow and even into super bowl sunday too. dry conditions as all the storms are tracking to the north of us or well south and that's going to leave us with beautiful dry conditions for our chinese new year festival and all the way into our super bowl sunday. i'll have more on that coming up in a bit. reed how are roads this morning? so let's take a look at the roads. especially for you early commuters ready to head out the door on this friday light morning as my buddy g would say. right now it is all in green there. not a lot to impact your drive times so far. a check in on our soup committers at the altamont pass, slow conditions going westbound 580 for those who are exiting out of tracy. a reported accident just now coming into us. what we're learning is that grandparent line road which is usually kind of a different way to skip the traffic. but luckily no impacts or injuries there. now this. taller everybody and look at that countdown clock. live in las vegas right now where an army of faithful forms right there going into super bowl weekend. really feels good to be a part of something doesn't it? our crews in las vegas and look at this. we're seeing niner gear and selfies all over. our colors. painting up the streets of las vegas and people amassing in las vegas for the 49ers from as far away as atlanta and even met some faithful from australia? >> because we went to san francisco a few years ago when our son was 9 and we took him to candlestick park for a game and have been niners ever going. >> going to the actual game itself? >> yes, that's why we're here. >> we go all the games. i grew up in toronto. and love joe montana. love the niners. growing up. and just stuck with them all through this. very excited. >> in 2019, we thought that was our year. so we're back and

mahomes. down on the field laying flat when bosa takes him out come super bowl sunday. if you are coming out here to las vegas to experience the nfl fan experience or other events, there's so much to do with your family. and in fact, i caught up with a family from california who's doing exactly that. rachel fisher, her husband and two kids wanted to come to las vegas to enjoy some super bowl activities. as niner fans, they wanted to have a fun family adventure. but she needed to find a place that was welcoming for kids. >> this came up as one of the first spots for family-friendly activities in vegas. and i know obviously vegas is known for a little bit more on the adult side. but this is a great way for us to spend some time together. get some movement in. >> it turned out to be a great spot to throw on that 49ers' jersey and enjoy the day. >> gosh, i'm a third generation niners' fan. so it started with my granddad. passed down on to my mom and i proudly carry it on. she will be the fourth generation niners' fan in our family. >> with food, family and lots of fun.

>> when people hear us bringing kids to vegas, it doesn't always click right away. but yeah, there's plenty of things here to do -- to do here for families. >> and if you can't make it to vegas, don't worry. there's a top golf in the bay area. >> so we definitely have the news there for you to enjoy. and we have a new venue and i want everyone to be on the lookout because we haven't officially announced it, but you probably have seen some construction going on in the san francisco area. >> top golf has two floors dedicated to all ages. and then the top two floors are 21 and up. it also gave her son cade chance to work on his swing. he's on the golf team at his school. and a little less expensive than taking a family of four to the super bowl. >> go niners. >> yes, go niners and by the way, if you don't have tickets to the big game for your family. a really big watch party at the top golf in vegas. looking green, i have been

13th annual nfl top honors. we're talking about ravens' quarterback lamar jackson and nicole z is live in las vegas where this morning people are talking about some niner hardware one last time. good morning outside bellagio. >> good morning to you once again, reed. yeah, the current 49ers' team is looking to celebrate on sunday. but a former niner had a great reason to celebrate last night. former linebacker patrick willis was elected to the pro football hall of fame. and part of a seven man class of 2024 to be enshrined in canton, ohio this august. willis played all eight seasons in san francisco and reached the pro bowl seven times. vern glenn was able to catch up with the hall of famer after the announcement. >> yeah, it's -- it's finally -- it's finally official. and you know, it's really -- it's a magical moment. when i look

looking live to those of you waking up in the east bay this morning. the state attorney general's office putting boots on the ground to fight crime there in the east bay. it's really a multilevel response and it comes as several businesses shut down especially in that hegenberger corridor due to crime. well, the state attorneys will work with prosecutors and pamela price's office. you will remember two days ago, governor gavin newsom sent in 120 chp officers to beef up the patrols in oakland. meanwhile, sheriff's deputies arrested a man from miami who took a nosedive in a stolen plane on to a half-moon bay beach. that pilot caught and cuffed while he was trying to walk away from the crash. so in this case, the ntsb and the sheriff's office working together to investigate not only the crash, but why this guy stole the plane from palo alto in the first place. a lot of questions there. we'll be asking them.

let's take a live look outside right now from the top of salesforce tower looking out over the beautiful san francisco bay. hey, so many beauty shots of the bay will be delivered on super bowl sunday. and we have so much to be proud of. so many beautiful things to tell. we got a beautiful bay area bounce-back story to tell the entire world on super bowl sunday. jess. >> i can't wait for it and you know just a festive weekend for us all throughout the bay area. sports, we have chinese new year, there's so much to do this weekend. and our satellite imagery is painting a beautiful picture what we can see right around the corner. now yesterday, those showers were kind of tapering off for us and most of us just -- excuse me, most of us just saw dry skies. but as we head into this weekend's forecast, that will be the trend all throughout the bay. not only here actually but all the way down into las vegas and as the niners take on the chiefs. they're expecting plenty of sunshine and we're getting our fair share back here in the bay too. now looking at the long-range models, rain is still in the forecast but it doesn't happen

2348 late next week. around wednesday to friday. that's the next light chance of showers that we'll see here in the bay area. but we'll get there when we get there. we have to get through the weekend first and we're going to be celebrating next week and won't notice the rain right? 50s in the forecast for us anywhere from the santa clara valley up into in north bay and we're going to get rid of the 50s and hold on tight to the 60s heading into this weekend. we're slowly starting to warm up into early next week. partly cloudy skies as we head into next weekend but look at saturday. oh it's going to be a gorgeous one for us tomorrow. get out there and get some fresh air and find a new trail maybe around your local communities. or maybe do some community service i know there's been a lot of impacts from this week's storm. if you get out there and help out the neighbors that's a beautiful way to celebrate the weekend too. and then by sunday we can all just celebrate together because the niners are going to take home that trophy. into next week it's not until wednesday and thursday where we see our next chance of showers and more on that coming up in just a bit. reed? how the roads this morning? the next chance to look at the bay bridge is right now. let's get a live look out

[ nfl intro music ] we are going big for the big game airing right here on cbs and we know a lot of you are making even bigger bets on super bowl sunday but check this out. a kansas city senior living facility has a bone to pick with our niners. listen. >> hey 49ers, we got spirit, yes we do, we got spirit, how

[ cheering and applause ] >> i would like to hear them say what a good job their opponents did. >> we knew it all along. we knew you were better than we are. >> well, we're hoping to hear those same words and spirit after sunday's game from our fans. their bet is a challenge with their sister facility in san francisco. the losing team owes the winning team a video congratulating the winners on the victory. shawn chitnis spoke with a faithful at the bay area home about their expectations for the game. and really their silver haired love for all things red and gold. watch this. >> reporter: martha campana has an edge on most members of the faithful. not only is she a lifelong fan who's had season tickets for more than 40 years, martha says she's been there each time the niners became nfl champions. >> i was to the five super bowls they won. i went. didn't go to the last two, so they didn't win. they're going to win this one. >> reporter: and while she may not be there for their next appearance in vegas on sunday, she sees something in this team that reminds her of the previous squads that saw success at the super bowl. mary sholes is another long time fan who also says this team is special. while she was born in kansas city, she became a niner fan at the age of 12 and has stayed faithful to the bay ever since. >> they came back from it. they -- are fighters. but they're classy about doing it. and that's what i like. >> reporter: all around their senior living community in redwood city, you will see plenty of decorations for the niners. but these ladies stand out among the faithful for bringing a little more elegance to the red and gold. and while many of them were lucky enough to see one of the all-time greats in niner history lead the bay area to victory, they've got a lot of love for the new quarterback and the incredible run he's had this season. >> i mean, it's amazing what

hour. taking a live look as the sun starts to shine in las vegas. this is live look at allegiant stadium. where super bowl lviii kicks off in just two days. we thank you so much for joining us this morning. it is friday, february 9th. and the countdown begins and our team is live in las vegas once again this morning. good morning nicole and gianna. >> good morning to you, reed. yes, we're live at the bellagio. and it's hard to believe that the super bowl is two days away. i'm really going to miss broadcasting from vegas because there's so much media on hand. i caught up with mark schlereth yesterday. who's known the shanahan and mccaffrey families for decades. g? >> i can't wait for that nicole. and i made it out of the helmet you guys. so i'm going to walk around and kind of show you all the fun that's happening here t the nfl fan experience. not just for adults who want to try kicking a field goal but it's for families and kids as well. and there's no shortage of things to do. we're also going to show you how when

just in time for super bowl sunday too. past the 30s of course. 39 degrees right now in san jose. and as we wake up all the way up into the santa rosa area, petaluma, upper 30s are in the forecast for our friend in the north bay too. and heading so in next couple of days, the beautiful skies are definitely going to stick around for us. here's the weather headlines throughout this afternoon we're going to continue to see this drying trend as partly cloudy skies quickly turn into sunny skies in the forecast tomorrow. rain returns but not until late next week. but first, we're going to enjoy the huge area of high pressure that's drying us up and warming us up into this weekend. there's chinese new year festivals happening. and of course there's the super bowl on sunday to celebrate. and this is the weekend to get out there and get some fresh air. people making their way in the bay today. a live look on top of the toll plaza on the richmond-san rafael bridge. this is a slew of commuters heading westbound 580. a bit slow. but steady out there. those headed eastbound can experience no delays. not too bad though making your way across as it is. only about an

[ nfl intro music ] all right, kids, going to school this morning? maybe wearing your jerseys. you walk in tall and proud because you are a part of something bigger. it's not just about the game. it's about bringing us together and this is our focus. looking live at allegiant stadium. where the faithful are gathering kind of like it's a tent revival on game day. and bay area fans, we know you are ready to cheer on your team and in fact, take a look at this. long lines at the oakland airport this very morning. you see a common theme there? those are fans waiting to board their flights to sin city. the airport even decked out in red and gold balloons and they are on theme and on trend. and while they wait for the game to start, one of the most popular events is that nfl fan experience if the games and sports events and maybe even a chance to get a glimpse of their favorite players. our gianna franco one of my favorite players in broadcasting, joins us now. you are talking about one of the

venues that really is created acceptance and inclusion for those who are neurodivergent. who are getting on the planes and they're a part of our family too. >> they are. reed. and we want the welcome them and give them a big hug with open arms. so they can enjoy all of this. standing dead center of the nfl experience. this is in the mandalay convention center. available for all ages and all fans from the little to the big can have a lot of fun and you can test your skills just like an nfl player. but as you look around here you see the bright lights and so still very early and not open yet. still setting things up and it gets really loud inside here. so the nfl wanted to make sure that kids who are maybe sensory sensitive or anyone who has anxiety has a safe place to go and sort of relax a little bit so check enjoy all of this and we also caught up with a family that's having lot of fun as they get

ready to go to the super bowl. thomas and alex are from san jose and are season ticketholders at levi's stadium. they're looking forward to a few fun-filled days in las vegas and appreciate there's an event that includes all ages. >> yeah, yeah. thus far, this is great. it's a lot of stuff to do and a lot of stuff for the family and the kid. that's really exciting, especially in a city like las vegas. >> as fun as it is, the nfl experience can be a little loud and noisy at times with a lot of bright lights and that can be overwhelming for some children and adults. that's where culture center comes in. >> our goal is to support those with sensory needs or those who identify as neurodivergent. >> they also have support animals around to offer a little extra comfort. this year, the nfl also blocked off a few hours to allow those to enjoy the experience without being triggered or uncomfortable with the loud noises. >> so for the entirety of the super bowl experience, culture city's on site with our sensory bags, our sensory room right behind me.

>> for thomas and alex, the super bowl trip is certainly once in a lifetime. are you guys going to the super bowl? >> yes, we are. >> yeah, we are. >> wow, dad, how'd you hook that up? [ laughter ] >> second mortgage. [ laughter ] we're here and we're just here to have a great time. and build memories. >> what are you going to tell your friends on monday when you are rolling in just fresh from the super bowl? >> i'll tell them that we win. >> yes. we are going to win. alex, you are right. and they got the extra ticket just throwing it out there. this is the sensory bag and i want to show you what's inside. all the tools that maybe you or loved one or if you are bringing a kid who might feel a little uncomfort we believe the noise and the people. you can you know, open these up and put them on your head and they have got fig it spinners in here too. and things you can do when you are waiting in the long lines because you know with all these vents that are happening here, there's a lot going on. and there will be a lot of people hanging out here so just want to make sure that everyone feels safe and comfortable and of course have a really good time. and i'm going to test

in niner gear are walking up and down the las vegas strip all week long. nicole zaloumis is one of them and she's live from sin city. nicole, you were at a place called radio row and kind of the premier place for stars this week to see and be seen. >> yeah, welcome back, reed. i'm live from the bellagio now and as you mentioned yesterday i was at radio row. because this is the sixth super bowl that i have covered and it was so great to meet up with old friends. i saw nfl network's steve wire and he told me nobody is talking about the 49ers. all the buzz is about patrick mahomes and the chiefs. now one interview i did that i really enjoyed was with mark santa clara it because if you recall, he was with the broncos. mike shanahan was the coach and he's known kyle since he was 11 years old and also known christian mccaffrey since he was 2. and the dirt that he gave me on those two in the entire families was so good. ride owe row is the spot

to be this week if you are looking to grab an interview with an athlete, a celebrity, and just about every member of the media is on hand. well, this week i caught up with some old friends the sports reporting days like lavar arrington and brady quinn on the radio show. and super bowl champion mark schlereth who knows the 49ers' team. he's known christian mccaffrey since he was in diapers. >> probably 2 -- i have known christian. you know, and ed was a psychopath. and -- great player. and -- >> hearsays says that lovingly. >> i do. ed was a complete psycho. and christian too is from a preparation standpoint. as a matter of fact i worked at this camp when christian was coming out of stanford. and it was amazing. there was nfl talent all over this camp. and then there was christian. and there was the rest of the guys and some of these guys with in the league still to this day. at the running back position. and it was like a varsity player working out next to jv

players like his ability to do things -- his athleticism. and it's morn athleticism because he's absolutely completed and just like his father with his preparation. and being ready to play. so -- they're just -- great family. a great family. >> kyle, how old was he? >> probably 12. you know, he was a ball boy. as a matter of fact, kyle shanahan was the last person to hold a cord for the coach's headset in a super bowl. and i think the thing that sets them apart as coaches because his dad as this well. they will tell you, what they're going to do. why they're going to do it. how they're going to do it. how it's going to affect you. and how it's going to help you guys win in this particular game. and he'll call it out and he'll says the the play. give us this we're going to do this. it will be a touchdown. watch. and it literally -- i saw his dad do it when i played for him and i see him do it. it -- i mean, they are -- on the

spot with those things. and so it gives you as a player, a ton of confidence when he calls a play, man, i understand this play is designed and it's going to work. >> about the game? >> so that was my interview with mark schlereth yesterday at radio row and look who's joining me now. tony dokoupil. what are you guys up to. >> just completed the twoday residencesy. all things super bowl. we had a great time doing it. very, very excited about the game. i mean, our colleague jim nantz has been saying this is the biggest event in the history of las vegas and you think that's got to be hyperbole. no, it's true in terms of the tuning in the terms of the visitors here. and in terms of the magnitude of the star power. in greatest are here. right? it's going to be a huge night. and like you know, you and i, all of us we have got the -- duty and honor and responsibility to cover this epic event and we are
