just hours ago.>> reporter: it is addressed to the nation, joe biden did not declare victory, but what we heard was essentially his victory speech, he talked about his plan to be covid and the plan to bring the nation together. meanwhile president trump focused on the lawsuits he hopes will bring them back into the race. as presidential election ballots continued to be counted key states, joe biden spoke friday night. >> we don't have a final declaration of victory yet, but the numbers tell us it's clear, a clear and convincing story. we are going to win the race. >> reporter: he offered a message of unity. >> it's time for us to come together as a nation to heal, it's not going to be easy. >> reporter: he has pulled ahead of president trump into key states, pennsylvania and georgia, the former vice president leads by just a few thousand votes in georgia. >> with a margin that fall there will likely be a recount in georgia. >> reporter: as soon as the

work again. >> reporter: he faces likely roadblocks in the senate. >> covid recovery, big budget packages, those kinds of things, he will need to make some friends among the couple of moderate republicans left in the caucus.>> we don't have a final declaration, of the victory yet. >> reporter: not claiming victory, but he signaled job one could be trying to bring the nation together. >> we don't have any more time to waste on partisan warfare. >> reporter: in san jose, len ramirez. here in brentwood, we have witnessed a clear divide between democrats and republicans, but there is also division among republicans on what president trump's next move should be in the selection. in downtown brentwood, doors were boarded up as business owners feared a clash between biden and trump supporters would lead to vandalism, some residents in this town are ready for the violence to end. >> i am over it.

it is time to be done. it is time to call it and be done with it. >> reporter: the brentwood resident chris rogers said she voted for trump, she has been discouraged for house support for a certain candidate has fractured relationships. >> we are who we are, we love each other for who we are not who we voted for. >> reporter: there are trump supporters who say the election is far from over and they would like to present to keep fighting. >> i think it is rigged. >> it could possibly be rigged, some things don't add up. >> reporter: there are different views on whether the president should concede if he falls short of the needed electoral votes, many agree on one thing, moving on is a united country will be difficult. >> regardless of who is elected, honestly, it's not going to be a good outcome. >> i'm not feeling very hopeful on that in the upcoming months. hopefully down the future, but it is getting worse and worse. >> i don't see it happening

valley. zooming in for a closer look, the moisture gets squeezed out as it tries to climb over the coastal ranges, heavier downpours south and east of half moon bay, a few showers have been making their way into los gatos and santa clara. temperatures have dropped off significantly, a lot of 40s on the map, down to 41 in santa rosa already, 43 in petaluma, and spots in the north bay that dip into the other 30s tonight. upper 30s. rain chances up and down for the next few days, we would be tracking that the next few days. guatemalan search brigades have begun pulling the first bodies from a massive landslide caused by tropical storm ada, at least 100 people are feared dead. it made landfall on the coast of nicaragua as a category 4 hurricane on tuesday, it is projected to head towards cuba and florida. a sheriff deputy in the

tonight we have some pretty incredible new video of a helicopter crashing onto the roof the hospital, in los angeles, carrying a heart for a transplant patient, when he crashed on the helipad. the pilot and 2 others managed to escape with only minor injuries likely, the hospital in turn said the building shook cobb you can see it scattered all over the path there, blood everywhere, thankfully the hardware is kept in, intact, transplanted to the person in need, the ntsb has been called in to investigate what caused the crash.

a former sonoma county sheriff's deputy has been charged with excessive use of force and involuntary manslaughter, according to the attorney general's office, a bloomfield man, and his role in the death a year ago, david glenn ward died in police custody after a brief high- speed chase, looked at the sonoma county jail, posted bail on monday and we will be arraigned next week. -- he will be arraigned. the antigovernment boogaloo movement, one man standing trial, facing charges of threatening a santa clara county health officers. a judge ordered 55-year-old alan villa ringo to stand trial. accused of sending threatening letters to dr. sarah cody over her handling of the counties covid-19 response. the trial could begin in january, he faces nearly 4 years in prison if he is

convicted. the u.s. has set another single day record for new coronavirus cases, that number, over 125,000 according to the covid tracking project, the virus killed nearly 1200 americans just today alone. new 11:00, california's oldest amusement park will be the first to reopen in the middle of the pandemic, the santa cruz beach boardwalk will be back in business tomorrow but there is a catch. only santa cruz county residents can hop onto the rides and reservations are mandatory. the boardwalk however is open to everyone, the beach boardwalk got the green light to reopen because santa cruz county is in the states orange tear. a live look outside in san francisco, temperatures currently in the low 50s. that is presenting a new challenge for some restaurants during the pandemic. betty shows us how restaurant owners are getting creative to keep their businesses up as the temperatures go down. you are all bundled up tonight

betty.>> reporter: that's right ken, i came prepared, tonight was really the first test of people's willingness to dine outdoors on a cold night and the crowd was decent, restaurant owners used heat lamps and live entertainment to attract the crowd.>> reporter: tonight's dinner crowd on the 2 blocks of valencia street that are closed to car traffic was thinner than usual. but a fair amount of people ventured out with jackets and beanies.>> a little chilly, we got some hot sock a here, very nice. we will get some mittens out next time any stronger code. >> reporter: this restaurant said that business is down about 35% compared to last friday. it's manager said it has been unable to get heat lamps because of a shortage, and currently it does not have a

park let. >> we don't know how will go heading into winter, even if you have those, they are people going to come out when it's raining, in san francisco when you have rain coming down, it blows with the wind, so you're going to get people who don't want to come out. >> reporter: west of pecos, they do have a park let, and hoping to install some kind of coverage to protect from the rain, it is relying on indoor dining to give them a boost as temperatures drop. it is currently allowed at 25% capacity. >> due to everything going on with covid, to go out, with takeout and delivery, it has been very beneficial for a lot of the restaurants here.>> reporter: the live music and atmosphere were still a draw for some diners to eat outdoors. >> i feel pretty good, it's kind of warm for me, i'm visiting from seattle like you said, but it is warm enough. a lot of the restaurants have heaters, you have to wear a poopy jacket and you are

heading to bay area beaches, keep a safe distance from the water, a look at the swells off of the point today, some waves as big as 12 feet things to a storm heading towards us.>> it is here. a lot of people are grateful, you feel for the restaurants that have to serve people outdoors, but i got the sense that people are kind of into it. >> an extra layer 2, the little heat lamps put out a decent amount of energy. and we would just kind of get used to it. we've had other challenges that were more daunting. let's take a look the radar, a decent amount of rain, as we looked on the peninsula into the southern part of san mateo county, have your downpours making their way farther to the east, it gets squeezed out along the santa cruz mountains, some of it into the santa clara valley. northern napa county, a batch of showers is trying to drop in. that will travel through the eastern half of the bay area. putting everything in

motion, you can see curving around, the center of the storm sends center is right around us. showing the batch of showers at the northern tip of napa county, dropping down the diablo range. maybe a couple of showers out there, as the sun comes up, the rest of the day saturday, and mix of clouds and sunshine. and i stay. cool, breezy, it will feel like november. another chance for a few passing showers, it won't amount to a whole lot on sunday, a few blips of green along the coast, futurecast indicating another chance of showers from the east bay down into the santa clara valley sunday afternoon and then things will dry out for a few days. another chance for rain will head our way thursday or friday of next week off every three or four days, a chance for some of that much-needed rainfall. cooling off into the upper 40s in livermore, upper 40s in santa rosa, we will end up in the 40s areawide, and upper 30s

and the valleys of the northbay. a significant cooldown and it will be with us tomorrow, dog walking forecast is cool but sunny, monarch, castro valley, a professional at giving the side i, temperatures around 60 degrees for the highs, that will be the case not only castro valley, that will be the case across the entire bay area. that's zoom in for a closer look, mid 50s there, a mix of upper 50s and low 60s for the south bay, mostly low 60s as you had farther inland into the santa clara valley, 60s for the tri-valley and the diablo range, warmest parts into the mid 60s. only attend degree different from the coast inland, that is not much for the bay area, around 60 degrees for the central bay, low 60s for the northbay. temperatures in the same territory on sunday, a modest warm-up, tuesday and wednesday, mid 60s and lynn with low 60s around the bay, normal for this time of year.
