or hinged president to take america to war. we are keeping a close eye on the situation in syria. stay with us for continuing coverage on air and online. >> in our headlines a police chase ended with a crash in afternoon danville. a photo from the scene shows debris strewn across the pavement. police say the suspect was transported to the hospital with nonthreatening injuries. an ambulance carrying an injured bicyclist got into a crash sending three people to the hospital. the accident happened around 9:45 this morning. earlier this cyclist had collided with a car in fairfax. it was after the second crash more ambulances rushed in to help the victims. >> the initial patient one of our paramedics was injured and the driver of the car were all transported.

>> the injured paramedic is now out of the hospital. the other two people are still being treated. in east oakland police say someone shot a motorcycle rider in the back at about 1:00 a.m. on 42nd avenue near interstate 880. a 52-year-old man died at the scene. police believe he was heading home to hayward after talking with some people in oakland. its not clear if the gunfire came from a car or someone opinion the street. a driver is behind bars this evening after police say she struck a woman in san francisco and then took off. it happened last month. the 41-year-old was arrested and booked on a number of charges including hit and run and concealing evidence. the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no word on her condition this evening. act. new bay area monument is honoring the families of veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice the gold star family's memorial monument was unveiled this morning. one of 33 monuments that had

been installed across the u.s. >> i didn't have a life before my brother was born. we grew up together and to lose somebody who you have known your entire life is incredibly difficult and so to be honored in addition to the fallen is very important and very healing for any family that has lost someone. >> the new monument is part of a new nationwide tribute. police bomb sniffing dogs patrolled oracle arena as the warriors opened up their 2018 play off run. andrea said people at the arena were clearly eager for the post season to get going. >> stepping up security measures is something they normally do in the playoffs. what fans did notice is the regular season is over and the post season has finally arrived.

officers try to stop a suspect wanted new video of wild police chase. take a look. officers tried to stop a suspect wanted for aggravated assault in saint paul, minnesota. he led police on a high speed pursuit flying through an

intersection and then crashing. he then jumped the fence, dropped a stolen gun and fled on foot. he was eventually taken into custody. thousands packed a stadium in south africa today to pay their final respects to civil rights leader wine mandela. she battled to keep the struggle in the international spotlight. while her then husband nelson was imprisoned today people across the world marched and rallied in the name of science. for a second year in a row this was the scene in washington d.c. where the largest rally took place. the goal is to encourage policy makers to consult with experts before decisions are made. back in the bay area folks gathered in oakland and used the day to learn about science instead. each group helped bring sciences from various fields to talk to people and get them up to speed. organizers say you cannot get involved if you don't know the

groups exist. today was all about bridging that gap. >> while there wasn't a formal march out there people were encouraged to walk around the lake to show their support of science. organizers say its the most cost effective option for their non-profit it was a special day today. 16-year-old miles' only wish is to be able to drive. that takes a specially made car. today his wish came true. if miles could join this work out atom any fitness club, he would in a heart beat. but a routine wrestling move with a teammate dislocated his c-5 and c-6 vertebrae and compressed his spinal cord

paralyzed from the chest down. >> it changed my world. >> when we first met miles in january, one year after his accident, he was smiling and positive but had just one wish, one goal. >> i am going to get my drivers license. >> but for miles to drive, it would involve outfitting a specially made vehicle to allow him the independence to drive and that's quite costly. that is where this omni strong community and its owner dennis come in. >> lets mo -- move on to some other stuff. >> he broke his back at age 14 and was bed bound for a year. >> really emotional struggles connected with me. i can relate to some of the challenges. >> and so today a work out to raise money for miles and then one thing led to another, a raffle with donated gifts to raise money and omni stepping up
