massive manhunt. we know that one man is under arrest, we don't know if that is one of the inmates who escaped from a palo alto courthouse earlier this month. just after 5:00 this evening, units tried to pull over a car on interstate 5 in stockton when it took off. the officers followed it to walmart where the driver bailed out. the passenger took the wheel and took off. he was cornered on trinity parkway, then got gunfire. [ gunfire ] a witness captured the shots being fired as officers were screaming at the man to stay down and he did not. incredibly he got away again. tonight the chp said it was john bibbens. he had been on the run with his

friend ever since they escaped palo alto a couple weeks ago. and when vista getters just released new surveillance photo of him taken at a convenience store. he may have been driving a green ford explorer. the license plate on the car, is available on your screen. if you see the vehicle, you are asked to call 911 immediately. uber was hacked and 60 million accounts were exposed. and uber is coming clean. some say users have been taken for a ride. betty? >> reporter: many users i spoke with tonight said that this revelation is forcing them to look at other options such as

lift. the attorney general office has been investigating the case. >> uber is coming clean. data was stolen from 57 million customers and drivers. and this includes e-mail and phone numbers. and the driver licenses of 600,000 drivers were also exposed. to hacking happened in october last year. they paid hackers $100,000 to destroy the information and keep the breach quiet. >> it is composing - - it is confounding to me that you would not report it to city authorities. >> reporter: a series of scandals have spread through the company. >> sexual harassment, not hiring women, women, they do not have a great reputation as a company

organization then ensuring a safe workplace that is affordable and supportive of their best work. and claims were published from eight different women who wanted to work for the program. one of. one of them said that he groped her breast. two of the women said that he walked naked in front of them and one said that he reached down her pants. >> he has influence and power. >> reporter: he said i deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior and i am greatly embarrassed. i behaved insensitively but i do not believe all of these allegations are accurate. he said i always felt i was pursuing shared feelings although i realize i was mistaken. and some women said that they are not ready for these allegations to be made public.

one woman said that he whispered sexual innuendos to her. and one woman spoke to stephen colbert about her former colleague. >> it is very painful, hurtful. charlie and i have worked together. we have been friends. when you think about the anguish of those women, you still have to report the news. you can catch that after this newscast. tonight, president trump seems to be saying it is better to have an accused sexual predator in the senate rather than a liberal democrat. said he denies it, i can tell you one thing, he denies it and we don't need a liberal democrat person in there. >> roy moore is accused of sexually abusing a number of teenage girls 40 years ago.

he was in his 30s at the time. he is running for the senate seat. he denies the allegations. a bay area father went to work and was taken into ice custody. and he has been fighting for his freedom. our reporter was there when he was released just in time for thanksgiving. >> he walked out at 8:00 this evening,, and into the arms of his family. >> reporter: his wife and children, embracing him for the first time in six months. >> they would hug me, kiss me, it means a lot. >> his friends and family paid his bond earlier today after he was ordered released from migration

detention just in time for thanksgiving. [ indiscernible ] >> it is good to see my family again. >> federal immigration authorities arrested him and a friend in may after they tried to work a just - - they tried to work a construction job. they checked his dedication. he has no criminal record but he did have a one decade old deportation order. he has since been deported. neighbors and family are worried the same would happen to him, and they have been rallying on his behalf for several months. a judge of immigration ordered his release in time for the holiday. he is now heading home to

reunite with the rest of his family and his friends. long-term he wants to be able to get back to work and stay in the country in which he has lived over the last 17 years. >> i have lived and worked here. you can see my record. i am no criminal. but i'm grateful for the opportunity to be here. the fate of a killer in the hands of the jury. the will resume in the morning. he admits to firing the shot that killed stanley off the pier, several years ago. the defense argued that the gun went off by accident. it is now up to the jury to decide. >> why did he do this? was it an accident?

recklessness? or something he did intentionally? >> he could face life in prison if he is found guilty of murder. and he will serve over four years if convicted. new sheriff deputies are badly needed on the streets but not everybody is happy about where the money is coming from. a federal grant should have been cause for celebration. tonight, the department finds itself on defense, fighting defense, fighting back against claims that it had won the money because of work with ice. the announcement came from jeff sessions. the word money will be funding eight new decisions at the sheriff department, andthose positions are desperately needed. but not without controversy. the trump administration specified that applications

would receive additional points in the process by certifying willingness to cooperate. did the sheriff department agreed to this? >> there is nothing in the grant that we applied for that said that we would work with or do anything with ice. >> reporter: 80% of other recipients did agree to work with ice. and the aclu did lash out. the trump administration is hell-bent on coursing police in implementing this racist agenda. they will be reluctant to report crimes for fear of the petition. >> that rhetoric only hurts the relationship between law enforcement and our community. we do not care about your immigration status, please report all crimes to us. >> they do sometimes share information with ice, like whether or not a particular inmate is in their custody.

cities like san francisco, oakland and berkeley had sidestepped the controversy by declining to apply. tonight there is an ambitious plan to get 1000 homeless people off the streets of san francisco. and they are negotiating with the asportation department to open navigation centers. one of the met fifth and bryant and the other at 13th and division. the city currently has five, including this one, in the mission. transitional city shelters also provide services to the homeless. the mayor has not identified pro - - funding or timelines to open new centers. the city is taking action on another housing issue, the affordable housing program that is supposed to provide help for people who are in need of housing, but cheaters are taking advantage of it.

one to her ex. owners are supposed to live in these units, but we found caroline miles away in a home she purchased a couple years ago in an exclusive community. >> this is not your house? >> i am just staying here for a couple days. >> reporter: she was named as a community activist who did so much for the town. neighbors say that she lives here, not in her bmr. and it is still in her name, even though the unit is supposed to be sold to another qualified home purchaser. amy is an investment banker that was illegally renting her home for $149 per night for several years without getting caught, while living in a multimillion dollar condo that she owns in millennium tower. we have treated a list of

complaints about these owners. in a random survey, we found cheaters in almost every building, building, most after anonymous neighbors had to wrap them out. the director of the program admitted that they have been watching them for years. the mayor's office told us that benjamin was the wrong person to talk to come but ignored repeated requests for follow-up interviews. we took our questions to the city attorney office. >> whenever you have someone who is gaining the system, when we are talking about affordable housing, it is substantial, it is wrong, substantial, it is wrong, it should not happen. >> reporter: the spokesperson said that the city is cracking down. the file several lawsuits and reached a settlement.

>> they had to pay the city $200,000 for the unlawful proceeds for renting the unit and other enforcement costs. >> all of this action is come in the last six months. >> this goes back tickets. why now? >> i cannot speak to cases decades prior. referring to our office, it has been recent. we have moved very swiftly. >> we were wondering why her case was even filed since the mayor's office could have checked their own database to see that she already owned one before she purchased the second one. >> why did they give it to me? >> we have the city allowing her to break the rules. is this something that the attorney should prosecute? >> you had a situation in this case where she had lied on her application. >> reporter: sylvia was not
