the bay area later this month. here's more on that. >> here they come again. some right wing groups posting their plans on socialtheylan tot two weeks. >> we've seen the violent clashes on bay area streets more than once this year. this happened at berkeley back in april. now we've learned some of these same folks will be coming to san francisco on saturday, august 26. a spokesperson for the federal golden gate national recreation area confirms they issued a permit to a group called patriot prayer which claims to be a peaceful organization. this is the leader at the microphone advocating nonviolence. >> don't respond by yelling, but respond in kindness. >> here he is again getting in a with a counter demonstrator in berkeley. the very next day on sunday, august 27 at the very same sight of those violent clashes in april another right wing

demonstration is planned. a group called no marxism in america has scheduled an event. >> we reached out to the mayor of berkeley and haven't heard back. but san francisco police say they are aware of the planned protest and will be ready to ask for help from the national park police if needed. >> tonight in lake county a man flying a confederate flag and accused of firing at law enforcement officers has been arrested. officers say the suspect exchanged some words with chp officers and cal trans workers. he then fired shots. he was taken into custody and is facing several charges. it began outside his property near kelseyville. >> he started yelling at the cal trans employers and officers then moments later started shooting at us. >> we had some family members of

his that were concerned about this and we're glad to see this come to a safe conclusion for all of us. >> tonight the search is on for the suspects in the freeway shooting in the east bay. it happened along 880 sob between san leandro and san lorenzo. there was a report of shots fired around 2:30 this morning. witnesses say someone in a white sudan shot into this black car with four people inside. the driver was hit in the head and critically wounded. >> we can say that it was a targeted hit being the fact that we had the road rage incident first then shots fired shortly after that. but for who it was or what the motivation was we are not clear at this time. >> three passengers in the car are okay. the freeway was shutdown for more than six hours. >> developing news in palo alto where a church choir is fighting an eviction order but this isn't

just any choir. they have a 49ers legend in their corner. >> reporter: through peaceful persuasion the young women of i sing asked city council members to let them keep their rehearsal space. ♪ [ music ] ♪ . >> reporter: the problem is they're renting the space illegally from a church. first baptist church is zoned residential which means no businesses can operate there. hundreds of palo alto parents including former 49ers quarterback steve young whose two daughters are in the chorus packed into city hall despite the eviction. the week for four years now. without the money the church makes from these outside groups it will likely have to sell its property and relocate. >> we have these rules enforced, we got complaints. we have to enforce the rules. but these are uses the communities love. >> palo alto planning and community development director has extended the window for these groups to allow them to come into compliance. >> we want to solve the problems, we believe they're solvable. >> one option the church is currently considering is applying to become a community center which would mitigate the problems at hand. one choral group has chosen to leave the church rather than fight. i sing says they'll continue to fight because they believe moving would mean disbanding. >> california is now the first state to challenge the trump administration's policy of denying funds to sanctuary

a section of vista glen drive was a mass casualty scene late last night bullets fired from a passing car hit five people in san jose. about a dozen people had gathered for a vigil for two people killed in a recent car crash, then gunfire broke out. police have not commented on a motive. but some neighbors believe the shooting is gang related. >> it was predictable because when you see the gang signs out here, you know after the red comes the blue or after the blue

9 weeks ago the last time we were this chilly in the afternoon. livermore currently at 61 tying with concord. san francisco only fallen two degrees over the past several hours 59 and foggy in the city. san jose currently 63 degrees. san jose tonight 59, concord 59. regardless of how warm or hot we get or not during the day we typically cool down to the mid to upper 50s at night. including redwood cities 59. more on that total solar eclipse, toalty eclipse eclipse -- totality in eastern oregon, west of the cascades. that's why so many people are flocking to that specific spot as opposed to the rest of the path. because if it's cloudy you miss out on most of the fun. low pressure gave us the increase in the on shore flow to really shove the marine layer inland.
