they say they have detained four people, no bystanders luckily were hurt. a deadly weekend in san francisco a double homicide in the neighborhood, they were called to a home on dwight and gerard before 9 pm last night, when the officers arrived they found two people had been shot and killed. please have not released any further details about any suspects if you have any information you urged to call sf pd. help is on the way in oakland and the city works to get a handle on its homeless crisis, the state says it is sending help, selena jones has the detail on the new partnership that aims to cut the cities on house population. with more than 5000 on housed individuals living on the streets of oakland and a lack of local resources, officials say they need the state help to solve the city's growing encampment crisis. >> the city does not have the number of resources to address the magnitude of the crisis of homelessness, illegal dumping, or public safety. >> now they are stepping in to

provide shelter options, outreach and clearing encampments for the next two years. first on the list, the core door, near the airport, encampments in that area pose a significant safety risks. >> we have a waterway that is impacted and businesses that are impacted it is the first thing you see coming from the airport. that shows just the magnitude of a number of issues of us needing to take care of our community. >> they are targeting areas along the highway and is in discussion to turn one of their properties into a city run shelter. in a statement today the agency said quote our objective is to prevent the return of homeless individuals to these areas and to ensure they receive the necessary continuum of care. councilmember reed credits the city administrator and governor newsom are taking action. >> he made a strong commitment to addressing this and was back there with us, following through on that commitment and speaking more about the actions

that are underway between cal trans and the city administrator's office. >> not everyone is cheering the move, homeless advocates released a statement saying in part this solution to encampments is permanent housing not sweeps. supporters of the planet note governor newsom recently announced 140 new homes and housing units, caltrans says it's a part of their partnership they will follow the cities encampment policy including prioritizing encampments that pose significant safety risks and offering shelter assistance. >> our hope is that those who are living in these areas will be receptive of the assistance of the supportive services of the placement that can be provided. >> in oakland, nbc bay area news. more details in that mountain lion attack near sacramento, two brothers were attacked, the sheriff's

department in el dorado county says 18-year-old wyatt and his 21-year-old brother tatum brooks were out near the woods near georgetown on saturday. that's when a mountain lion approach them, deputies say they tried to scare off the cat but it pounced attacking wyatt the older brother. neither brother was armed but they managed to fight the mountain lion off before it started attacking the other, when wyatt could not get the mountain lion off his brother he went to find self-service and immediately called 911. when sheriff's deputies arrived they spotted the mountain lion with him and they didn't want to shoot it because they didn't know if he was alive. so they shot in the air the cat ran off and that's when deputies discovered he was dead. wyatt the younger brother underwent multiple surgeries but is expected to survive. the mountain lion was later trapped and euthanized. so how rare is an attack like this and did the brothers do the right thing when they first encountered this mountain lion? we talked with state and answers. we will be joined on our 7 pm news.

avoid seeing all the for lease signs, that is because according to commercial real estate firms 36.6% of san francisco's offices are currently empty. as well over a third and another 1% from 2023, office vacancy rates have been on rise the past few years. but there are strong signs that trend is slowing. the tech insight center calling it and saying the office vacancy is going to improve. >> the amount of space coming on the market has slowed down and the amount of tenants looking for space has actually increased. >> with buildings selling at discounts, yes it is a great market for renters. >> they may give you six months or a year of free rent. >> many companies that need to cut back are hanging onto their leases and just subleasing

instead. >> attendant determines they have too much space and they want to lease it to another tenant to reduce their cost. >> these are the biggest office leases so far this year, at the very top is a six floor sublease from this firm in this building on brennan street. also on the list, law firm goodwin procter signed the largest a new lease on 525 market street. the research shows companies are looking for nearly as much office space now as they did right before the pandemic. >> it's nice and offers good views and also equal importantly it is a good location. >> tech and ai companies account for 50% of tenants looking for space today. >> according to them the high demand they are seeing today for office spaces is going to take 2-3 years to translate into new leases. in san francisco, nbc bay area

news. the largest real estate agency in the country is trying to ease the nerves and confusion of its agents, it's all related to the new roles that could change how realtors are paid for selling homes. those rules could take effect this july. today keller williams held a nationwide webinar to help its agents. right now the seller typically pays part or all the commission of the buyers agents but a court settlement involving the national association of realtors could make the buyer responsible for their agents commission. many real estate agents are confused and buyers are confused by this as well, some worry that they may see a drop in their salaries in terms of the agents, they learned it's a little more complicated but not impossible to navigate. >> it will require more negotiation on behalf of both the sellers and buyers agents to understand the new you know, business practices that will be adopted most likely. >> that 3% on each side is negotiable, all it has been but

now it very much is, agents are worried about what this could mean for the cost of buyers, their agents commission can't be included as part of the loan so they will have to pay out-of- pocket. in the south bay now more than 3500 nurses are days away from walking off the job, their three-day strike could have a dramatic affect on hospitals and clinics and the county says it's scrambling to find a temporary replacements. >> reporter: upset over working conditions, nurses at three santa clara county hospitals including valley medical center have given notice they will strike next week. >> this is about the nurses standing up for our rights. >> 97% of the registered nurses professional association voted to strike. they say hospitals are dangerously understaffed. it is a statement we have seen nurses echo at hospitals around the region and country over the past year. >> we are asking to have a staffing that is needed to keep our patients safe and to keep

the nurses license are safe. >> part of the issue is pay and they're asking for a 15% raise over three years. the county is offering 10.5%. the union is also pushing back on a plan that would have nurses rotating between hospitals at times. >> we will not be able to understand what the patient needs are and what the doctors expect of us at all of the hospitals because the policies vary widely. >> county leaders say the nurses have received a 30% raise since 2020 and they believe what they are offering is fair. especially as the county is facing a $250 million deficit. >> i believe the county has proposed generous terms that reflect competitiveness with area private employers. >> the county executives say essential services will continue during the strike at valley med, o'connor and saint louise regional hospitals. it also warns they may be impacts the primary care clinics during those three days, the county says the cost to bring an employee to fill the striking nurses roles is $20 million. >> we continue to be committed to a fair contract for nurses,

fair for all of the nurses and all of our other hard-working and dedicated employees here at the county. he met both kyle, sides continue negotiating over which departments will continued to be stopped during the strike to ensure the hospitals can function. the strike will take place april 2 to the fourth. nbc, bay area news. a turbulent couple of weeks for united airlines and now the faa is stepping in. the notable the new investigation into the string of issues aboard those united planes for the past three or four weeks. we have more dry weather tomorrow, but a storm system is developing, updated timing and totals seven minutes away. caltrans will shut down two lanes of 580 at the richmond bridge, the closure starts at 7 am so really soon. and it's expected to last until

we know the name of the east bay woman killed in a shooting in oakland, police have identified her as 27-year- old courtney, she was found shot early saturday morning in the parking lot of a quick talk. quick stop, the gas station is located on east 12th street just off 880. not releasing any more information than that including details on a possible suspect or motive. it's been a turbulent few weeks for united airlines, a series of problems now has the

feds stepping in, the faa will now closely monitor united and experts say this unusual move comes after a series of maintenance problems. including a wheel falling off one of the united planes as it took off, a few days later three jets on different flights had hydraulic leaks. and last week the united jet landed in medford, oregon with a missing panel near the wink. united passengers also concerned. >> i definitely read the news and i have seen the headlines, but it's always a concern, i always tell myself it's more dangerous to get in the car and drive on the freeway so you are rolling the dice anytime you go anywhere. >> is held accountable for its being irresponsible if it's being irresponsible then that's a good thing. >> federal regulators say they also are planning to pause the united's ambitious growth plan according to a memo from the

the rain totals we can expect and the timing in about a minute. let's move into tomorrow morning's forecast. sunshine and clouds in the fog. really what we have had on and off lately over the past couple of weeks. 47 through the east bay, 50 in san francisco and chilly 44 in the north bay. daytime highs really will not warm up a lot without approaching storm system in the pacific so we have a lot of 60s here tomorrow down in the south bay. 66 in san jose. over here across the east bay 68 in concord, double sixes in pleasanton and 65 in hayward. the peninsula relatively light winds that will make it good. 61 in san mateo. 64, up to san francisco 59 in the marina down the mission 62 and right here through the north bay 67 in napa. so rain chances, those will start to return as we head through our wednesday morning forecast does not look too bad for the morning commute, just

scattered chances here, up towards the north bay and the coast, some consistent rainfall returning by seven at night on wednesday. over the north bay coast a little bit there for the east bay and we hang onto some chances through 1130 on wednesday night so totals on wednesday only trace amounts to a quarter inch for most of us. some of the north bay could get in on about a half inch but as the storm moves down the coastline as we showed you, looks like the better bet of getting in higher totals will be friday and saturday anywhere from a half to one inch some of those one inch totals up towards the north bay and right along the coastline. right now marin 100% incapacity, east bay mud 85%. right here in san francisco we will see dry weather on thursday, rain on friday and saturday and on sunday we will keep some thunderstorm chances so this weekend it really looks like scattered thunderstorms will be staying in the mix for us and look as it highlighted earlier here, we are close to

entrepreneur, sean 'diddy' combs. reading his los angeles and miami home today, sources tell us that it is out of new york. it executed law enforcement actions in new york as part of an ongoing investigation along with teams in los angeles and miami. his two sons were seen in handcuffs at the la home. they, as he faces a wave of civil lawsuits filed against the music mogul since november, three women and a man have come forward with lawsuits after public scrutiny of his behavior with his former romantic partner and singer, cassie ventura. she accused him of physically and sexually abusing her for years. the others accused him of sex trafficking, assault and solicitation and distribution of illegal drugs and guns. combs has not yet commented on those allegations. a reminder from the department of justice threatening election workers will not be tolerated and federal courts are cracking
