biggest airlines, united with a host of problems with their aircraft, among them united to 737 that left sfo and landed safely in bedford, oregon but lost a panel along the way. three jets with hydraulic issues like this 777 taking off from sydney headed to sfo and this 777 taking off from sfo headed to japan which lost a wheel. this series of issues catching the attention of the faa so the agency is putting united operations under a microscope. >> this is a unprecedented move on behalf of the faa to oversee all aspects of united operations. >> douglas rice is a retired airline pilot, he says the move a stretch the agency's resources because united is the second largest carrier. the airline already getting for the increased scrutiny. in a memo for this weekend, the united vice president of corporate safety advising

employees to expect an increased faa presents for all operations. in the memo the vice president writes that we welcome their engagement and be open to hear from them. she says the airline is also open to adopting changes that the faa may recommend. that's not the only action regulators are taking. according to him memo from the orlando pilots union the faa will pause the ambitious growth plans of the carrier. >> the bigger thing is the faa decided to stop new captains from training at the training centers in denver and houston. that is a milestone. essentially they have suspended growth. >> united passenger say that they have been paying attention to the issues. >> i read the news and i see the headlines. it is always a concern. i tell myself it's more dangerous to get in a car and drive on the freeway. you are rolling the dice.

us together. loving each other and supporting each other. that's what we're doing now. >> this antioch family is praying for a miracle after their father, this 52-year-old was critically injured in a collision last wednesday. police say that a 20-year-old dirt bike rider reportedly doing wheelies through downtown ran a stop sign and slammed into his van. >> he is in critical condition. that's why he has been in a coma for five days now. broken shoulder and ribs, a broken back. broken spinal cord. >> it happened outside of the antioch police department. the police captain heard the crash and came running out. >> i looked and saw the aftermath. i saw the dirtbike driver fall to the ground. >> this by performing cpr the 20-year-old died at the scene.

he was then extricated from the van with major injuries. >> two families and tragic lives changed forever. we have to learn to forgive other people. that young so that passed away did not have a chance for a miracle and my dad still has a chance. >> the family says they forgive the dirtbike rider, but are urging others not to be reckless. >> be careful. you might not just leave your family in pain, but the other family. >> a gofundme has been set up to help the family. the father of four has two kids in school and has six grandchildren, including one on the way. they need him. >> just letting them know we are here with him. fighting the battle next to him. having hope in god and trusting he will wake up with a miracle. >> from antioch, jodi hernandez, nbc bay area news.

peninsula healthcare workers are walking off the job to highlight calls for better health care coverage for themselves and their families. nurses, respiratory therapists and housekeepers were picketing outside of daly city seton medical center. the union authorizing 400 workers to strike today and tomorrow i made ongoing contract disputes. workers claim the hospital changed union health benefits to start the year. >> we live in the south bay and she has no coverage. we both have no coverage in the south bay. so, every emergency room that you can bring a child, yourself, you are covered. for getting admitted my daughter would only be able to be admitted in the east bay and i'm not okay with that. >> during the strike the hospital remains open and administrators have contingency staff in place to fill the gaps. the hospital also disputes union claims saying that they

are offering reasonable benefits. 16% pay increases over three years, free medical benefits for employees and immediate families and up to 400 hours annually of recruited paid time off. the hospital says previous healthcare coverage plans are no longer sustainable. the un security council approved a resolution calling for a cease-fire between israel and hamas. now a high-level israeli delegation is no longer coming to the white house. the un security council voted to approve today calling for a cease-fire for the remainder of ramadan. it also demands immediate unconditional release of all hostages. israel was hoping that the united states would veto the resolution, but the u.s. abstained from the vote. in response prime minister benjamin netanyahu accused america of hurting the war effort and canceled that delegation that was due at the white house. a major win for former preisdent trump. new york appeals court reduces the nearly half $1 billion bond in his civil fraud case to 175

million. it has given them 10 days to come up with the money. this ruling comes on the same day the former president was in court to hear a trial date on a criminal hush money case. alice barr with details from washington. >> a victory and a setback today for donald trump in his new york legal fight. a judge willing jury selection can begin april 15 in the hush money case against the former president. rejecting his legal team's request for another delay and setting him on track for his first criminal trial as the 2024 campaign is ramping up. >> they do election interference which is court cases and let's try to tie him up and take money. >> legal analyst say the case is about election interference, but former preisdent trump is not the victim, he is accused of falsifying business records.

housing prices and it could also mean fewer agents. now, a closer look. >> there are a lot of ramifications with the settlement agreement and the national association of realtors. keller williams is out trying to clear the muddy waters. >> so if they're not offering? >> keller williams broadcast this meeting to thousands of agents across the country with a goal to help them better understand the new rules that could take effect in july if the courts approve this landmark deal. >> it is wanting a clear understanding. nobody enjoys working in a unknown. >> the ceo of keller williams silicon city says despite the perception that the commission rate was a set percentage, everything has been negotiable. before, the seller would pay the commission of the buyer agent or a portion of it, but

under this proposed court settlement the buyer has to pay the agent and the buyer has more power to negotiate the commission before they sign on with the agent. >> it will require a little bit more negotiation on behalf of both the seller and buyer agents to understand the new business practices that will be adopted most likely. >> in that negotiation the seller can offer to pay part of the commission to speed up or locking the transaction. >> i don't know how feasible that is with the amount of agents in the industry. >> larry yang attended the webinar to get questions answered, he worries that the new rules will dissuade agents. >> i think it would make a lot of people that want to get into this a new one. a lot of them will have a harder time to survive. >> even some veterans may throw in the towel, but they also where the industry is the cost to buyers, the agent commission cannot be included as part of the bank loan so they will have to pay out-of-pocket meaning

that if they want to put 20% down they may need 23% to cover the agent commission if that's the rate they agreed on. >> everything has been working so long. now it is a big issue when it shouldn't be. >> the webinar encouraging agents to demonstrate value to buyers to be transparent and to not be discouraged by changing of the rules. >> the rate at which home prices grow is back to pre- pandemic levels with home sales, they are not. a new report from redfin shows home prices grew about 0.6% last month in line with monthly gains in the years leading up to the pandemic. economists say it was normal to grow .5% every month. this market is different, the average home is not affordable for most potential buyers. that's because inventory has improved in recent years, but not enough to meet the demand,

mortgage rates are still very high and that is keeping transactions at recessionary lows. starting this summer it will cost more to drive across the bay area's most iconic bridge. a live look at the golden gate bridge with a price to cross jumping by $.50 on july 1 and more hikes are on the way with the board governing the bridge voting on friday to approve the toll increases. it will raise tolls by $.50 per year over the next five years. bridge officials say it is necessary to ease a budget shortfall. this comes after ridership dropped during the pandemic now forcing the board to raise the tolls. >> unlike many other transit agencies, we are funded by bridge tolls. golden gate bridge and the ferry and transit do not receive dedicated state or local tax revenue. bridge tolls are the primary source of revenue. >> the toll hikes are expected to bring in $140 million over

five years and without the money existing bus and ferry services would have to be scaled back. boy, we got through the on and off rain all weekend, now what do respect for the week? >> more rain is coming. i know everybody wants more sunshine and look, we have to wait for it, the warm spring weather not on tap over the next couple of days. let's start off with the microclimate forecast. from the live sky camera it is a mix of sun and clouds which has been nice after the on- again off-again rainfall from the weekend. 60 degrees in san jose with 50s later tonight. we will stay dry rolling through tomorrow. from this area of high pressure to the south but, look at this next system developing in the pacific. now what i see with this storm system and why we continue to

see on-again off-again chances of rain through the week is the way the storm is moving. basically from wednesday all the way through sunday's forecast it is going to slowly develop in the pacific and move down the coastline keeping on- again off-again chances of rain from wednesday through sunday. colder temperatures with the possibility of thunderstorms. do not put away the umbrella yet. i will have those details coming up in about one minute. let's move to tomorrow morning. started off with patchy fog and a mix of sunshine. then we have more sun through tomorrow afternoon. this will bring temperatures back down to the 40s, 46 in the tri-valley, south bay 49, we can get to this tomorrow morning, 50 in san francisco and east bay at 47. daytime highs tomorrow are nowhere near where i think a lot of people would like. back down to the 50s and 60s, 64 in cupertino.

at the east bay 56 vallejo, 65 livermore n64 in oakland. 59 in daly city and san francisco with a lot of 50s around the marina. downtown at the mission in the lower 60s. across the north bay 66 in santa rosa. the next chance of rain looks like it will arrive there wednesday morning with some spotty rain. although the best bet on consistent rainfall will not come until wednesday night at 7:00 for the north bay and san francisco. then we hang on to rain chance is there wednesday evening. on wednesday rainfall totals are not high with trace amounts up to 1/4 inch for most of us. some spots in the north bay around half of an inch. with that system lingering, we will see additional chances on friday and saturday. looks like this zone of heavy rainfall from half of an inch up to 1 inch with 1 inch totals up around the north bay, the

coastline and around the peninsula. that will add to the rainy season which is doing really great. santa rosa is up 4.72. a surplus of 3 inches in san francisco and san jose is up 3.49. seven-day forecast, chance of rain wednesday, dry on thursday with more rain friday. spotty thunderstorms for the weekend. it is going to be a weekend where we keep those chances of rain. we will look at the sierra snow with more coming up at 5:30 tonight. scouring over the forecast for warmer weather and sunshine, but we are hard-pressed to find it. >> more showers on the way. still to come. a judge makes a decision involving a lawsuit filed by elon musk and x against a elon musk and x against a nonpfit.ro

we are following breaking news out of oakland. nbc bay area sky ranger overhead, the end of a pursuit crash. this is the car that overturned on lakeshore avenue off of 580 down the street from lake merritt. four suspects in custody. this chase and crash started 45 miles away with a robbery at a little lemon store in the city of napa around 4:00. and a bag full of clothing, leggings and other little lemon materials was spotted abandoned down the street, all four

suspects in custody and the ambulance arrived to evaluate their injuries before they were arrested and taken into custody, police say that no bystanders were hurt. attack on free speech that so a judge described a lawsuit filed by elon musk against a antihate group. the judge dismissed the lawsuit against the nonprofit, documenting a rise in hate speech on the social media platform since elon musk took over. he sued the center in late july the company accused of driving away advertisers from the x platform costing millions of dollars in lost revenue. today the court disagreed claiming the court case was about punishing defendants. apple, meta and google under the microscope of the europe

european regulators are putting the power of big tech under the microscope, after the passage of a strict new law called the digital market acts, policing anticompetitive behavior and increasing choices for online users. the european commission is investigating apple, google and meta. regulators are looking into whether the companies were following rules or engaging in
