francisco tradition left to visitors of all ages with memories they will hold onto. in san francisco, alyssa gord, nbc bay area news. >> it was the perfect night to be out there and joining a parade. we are enjoying a gorgeous warm start to the weekend but some chili changes are on the way. rob mayeda has all of that. >> 75 degrees warmer in san jose. 71 for a high in san francisco but tomorrow more clouds and a little bit of cooling on the way in the sunday forecast and by monday rain making a comeback later next week we could be talking about highs in the low 50s. here is a look at the first chance of rain. monday chances are heavier rain totals south of san francisco. rain expectations are a lot less than what we saw last week.

marianne favro has more . >> >> reporter: is gathered in kyiv to lay flowers marking the anniversary of the attack. here in the bay area more than 100 people gathered in front of san francisco city hall to show their support for ukraine as they vowed to increase awareness about the war. this woman says her cousin was killed in battle. >> it is so sad that it is two years and people starting to forget, but my people in my country, they are suffering. some of them do not have a house. some of them do not have a child some of them do not have what to eat. >> reporter: supporters formed a caravan of cars and drove through the city displaying the national flag of ukraine.

anniversary. a 16-year-old's dad following an early morning shooting in contra costa county. police say this happened in antioch just after 5:00 this morning along observation way. police say the victim was found shot in a car and was taken to the hospital where he later died. so far no word of any arrest. another incident at a bay area wheel refinery. the fire department was called out to this facility this morning to deal with a smell coming from the refinery. you can see the smoke billowing out as well. workers had to remove a refined hydrocarbon to another tank. the recommendation for those who could smell it was to stay inside with windows and doors close. the city says there is no risk if you cannot smell the odor. 3:00 this afternoon,

investigators say a fire broke out in the corner of a target store setting off alarms leading to an evacuation. it took firefighters around 10 minutes to knock it down to the bigger challenge was getting all that smoke out of the store. now investigators say they will be coming through surveillance video to see how the fire started. the damage is estimated at $1 million, mostly because of smoke. will turning to decision 2024 another primary victory for donald trump, he beat nikki haley with ease in the south carolina's primary, a state where nikki haley was formally governor. shortly after polls close trump spoke with supporters saying the win is a sign that people are united behind him. meanwhile, nikki haley vows to stay in the race. >> i just want to say that i have never seen the republican party so unified as it is right now. >> i am not giving up this

elon musk is on notice by the u.s. government to give u.s. troops in taiwan access to the satellite network star shield. the network is designed specifically for the military but a delegation of lawmakers learned that star shield is not currently operational for american troops.

elon musk was sent a letter to a demanding he fix the problem and warning him this could be seen as a violation of space x contract with the pentagon which requires global access. elon musk is also being asked to brief the house committee. the days appeared number for long-standing businesses in the capitola wharf. capitola boat and bait in the wharf house restaurant have operated on the pier for decades, but recent heavy storms damaged both buildings in the city of capitola now deems them unsafe so it plans to tear them down. the owners of those businesses were given just days to pack up and get out of there. the city estimates the demolition will sincerely -- significantly drive up the budget of the wharf and will not help either revisits rebuild. the business owners say they still hope to find out some way to rebuild. >> there is nothing as unique as what we have out here.

morning. dublin at 49 degrees and uc san francisco is picture-perfect for the chinese new year parade with clear skies, dry conditions, no wind, 58 in san francisco. moving to tomorrow morning, 40s and low 50s, more clouds tomorrow and a slight increase in that onshore wind. those two combining to drop daytime highs out of the mid- 70s we had to mid to upper 60s. 62 in oakland. hour by hour you see the cloud cover across the bay area for sunday, overcast conditions. now as we move forward into monday morning the chance of seeing showers and what are the trends with monday's rain chances. monday 5:00, cooler air moving down. colder air will continue to follow.

heaviest rain thursday night and into the day on friday, behind that front and the breezy conditions, watch how snow level start to drop. maybe to the higher peaks around the bay area from late thursday then by next weekend cold air drop snow levels even more, higher peaks around the bay area and we may see a chance of snow. thursday through saturday rain totals will be more significant, you are talking about three days in and out of rain at times. likely living at 1 to 2 inches of rain or maybe higher on the coastal mountains, but the big result here with cold air is -- let's talk about that snowpack come back because at the beginning of the year that was 20% of average, now 85% of average as of yesterday and if that forecast verifies we will go over 100% of average. something to watch. no more 70s as you can see san
