history, so i wanted to come out and show some support. >> i grew up coming here since i was little, so we thought we'd come to get our last burger at this place. >> this restaurant opened in 2005, but ongoing crime on the property and in the neighborhood left the burger chain, making the tough call to close over safety concerns. warning signs to customers are everywhere. >> yeah, it's just it's just really sad because this is a spot where a lot of teenagers would come have their first job. this was my first job ever. >> clarissa says she worked here for three years and never felt unsafe, but others did. >> a lot of people who aren't from here, they. i feel like they do feel a little bit more unsafe because they know that they can break your window. >> the robbery around here is like really bad. this sign in the parking lot telling in-n-out customers goodbye. >> city officials hope that oakland's incoming police chief can help keep other businesses from packing up and leaving town . floyd mitchell begins his new role as opd chief in early may. council member noel gayo has expectations. it's going to take, a strong police chief

action, and working with our police department, the neighborhood, and make sure that this does not continue. >> gotta enjoy it while it's here. right. >> gayo talk with oakland firefighters grabbing their last lunch here. in a statement in an out says we are grateful for the local community, which has supported us for over 18 years, but our top priority must be the safety and well-being of our customers and associates. the company says employees can transfer to other restaurants or receive a severance package. loyal customers had some final thoughts. >> it's sad. i mean, it's very telling. the state of the of the city. i hope the mayor can do something soon in oakland. >> cornell, bernard abc seven news. >> we're learning new details today about a shooting death involving officers in sunnyvale. police say they were called to a mobile home park on vienna drive yesterday for reports of a man with a knife. they say they came across him in a roadway and he ignored orders to put down the

knife. officers say they shot him when he begamoving towards one them. he later died at a hospital. the department and the district attorney's office is investigating. another crash at a bus stop sends a man to the hospital this weekend. it happened just before five yesterday at the stop at fulton street and park presidio boulevard, right across the street from golden gate park. ironically enough, the car ended up on top of a yield to pedestrian sign. fortunately, the victim's injuries are not life threatening. the driver is facing several citations. the crash comes just one week after a driver plowed through a bus stop in san francisco's west portal neighborhood, wiping out a whole family. a couple and their two children were waiting to go to the zoo when police say a 78 year-old driver hit them, the kids were just two years old and three months old. the driver is not in police custody at this point, and the da's office has not formally charged her. so we're not naming her right now.

new developments tonight in a deadly mountain lion attack in the sierra foothills. two brothers, 18 and 21 years old, were attacked. the older brother died, becoming the first person to be killed by a mountain lion in california in 20 years. el dorado county deputies say the 18 year old, who survived, has already gone through several surgeries and is expected to make a full recovery. the brothers were searching for shed deer antlers near the town of georgetown, about 50 miles northeast of sacramento, yesterday when the animal attacked them. abc news reporter zohreen shah has new detail audio details on how the deputies responded to the teen's shocking call. >> we got a report of a subject attacked by a mountain lion. code three fire and medical are in route now. >> a weekend outing for two brothers in northern california taking a horrific turn after the el dorado county sheriff's

department says a mountain lion attacked, killing one of the men and leaving the other one with traumatic injuries to the face. >> medical is with the first patient, 18 year old male, who last saw his brother, a 21 year old male, pinned down by the mountain lion. >> the attack unfolding saturday afternoon while the brothers, ages 21 and 18, were searching for shed deer antlers near the el dorado national forest about 52 miles northeast of sacramento. deputies say the 21 year old was found dead with a mountain lion nearby by 30 minutes after his brother called 911. the mountain lion was facing the deputies and in an attempt to get to the individual to render first aid, they discharged their firearms. california's fish and wildlife calling it the first fatal mountain lion attack in northern california. in 20 years. but residents say seeing mountain lions in the area is common. >> we're overpopulated with them by all means. yeah so they used to be hunted back in when i was

a kid up here, we'd go hunting and they banned the hunting on them, and we were overpopulated. yeah, the sightings nonstop up here. now. see them in packs 2 or 3. and that was that wasn't that wasn't common. >> the 18 year old was taken to the hospital, game wardens recovering the body of the mountain lion. zohreen shah abc news, los angeles. >> another day of scattered showers across the bay area, but for the most part, it's been a beautiful day. looking live outside at the east bay hills right now. let's go to spencer christian with a look at the forecast. spencer, we want to know, are we done with the rain? almost >> yeah, almost. it is a beautiful afternoon, but we still have a few isolated showers left from this weakening system. here's a look at live doppler seven. you can see there's not much happening here except over in the east bay where we have these isolated showers with brief downpours from pleasanton down to sunol and then eastward out towards livermore, and then farther out to the east towards tracy. so as we look at the pattern here, you can see the system that was our storm earlier today is now

continuing to weaken. and the system will continue weakening as we get into the nighttime hours with some partial clearing leading to sunny start to the week. tomorrow i'll have the accuweather seven day forecast a little bit later. >> jr thank you so much. a skeleton of a building is all that remains today after fire destroyed a commercial building in brisbane, flames and smoke could be seen from 101 when the fire broke out just after 11 last night, north county fire authority says it took crews more than four hours to put it out. firefighters also had to stay on the scene to make sure it did not ignite. the cause is still under investigation. no one was injured. a rally outside of san francisco's federal building today called attention to a supreme court case over abortion. the high court will hear oral arguments on the abortion pill mifepristone on tuesday. it's the court's first big hearing on abortion since they overturned roe versus wade in 2022. activists with the group reproductive justice sf

trump. a judgment is the first step a creditor will take to recover property. trump has to pay back decades worth of corporate fraud, but his lawyers say he doesn't have cash. enforcing a judgment could include freezing bank accounts, collecting rent from trump's tenants or seizing some of his properties. it's a large amount. >> and also it's significant because we all know that most of former president's assets are tied up in real estate and real estate. that's high profile. >> new york's attorney general can also go after trump's assets that are not located in the state. happening tomorrow. workers at seton medical center in daly city will hold a two day strike over concerns about their health care coverage. they say the hospital's new health care plan cost them more, and they can't find doctors who take the insurance. the hospital says the union's claim is false and the health care plan remains free for employees. more than 400

workers are expected to walk off the job, including nursing assistants, housekeepers and medical technicians. weird blue jellies are washing ashore at san francisco's ocean beach, according to our media partners at the sf standard. the tiny jellies have been seen by the hundreds since last tuesday, experts say the wind is pushing them to the surface, where they collect their food, which consists of marine larvae and eggs. the ocean creatures known as the wind sailors can grow up to 2 to 3in long and have a thin, translucent sail that rises upward. that's pretty cool . well, there's a subtle show to be seen in the sky tonight. the moon is getting a makeover. if you look close enough. plus, a much flashier eclipse is just weeks away. we'll explain. >> i'm spencer christian. our showers are winding down now, so the workweek will get off to a mainly sunny start. but how long will it last? i'll have the accuweather forecast coming up when abc

a mass at the vatican. pope francis skipped the homily at the last minute. it's the first palm sunday service that he has not delivered a sermon. however, the pope did preside over the service, which for christians marks the first day of holy week, leading up to easter. we didn't see much rain today, but the snow is still coming down in tahoe. this video from palisades tahoe. they say they've received more than two feet of snow this weekend. roads in the sierra are looking pretty good right now. there are no chain restrictions on i-80 or highway 50 for that matter. we bring in spencer christian there. you know, spencer, every time i say i'm

going to go, then the roads get backed up. so if they're not backed up now, i guess maybe the time to go go while it's dry, just stay. >> yes. snow comes again. great point, great point. no snow right now, though. not here in the bay area. at least. looking at live doppler seven, you can see we have a couple of isolated showers left from what was a level one storm earlier today. this is mainly out over the higher elevation in the mount hamilton area, but as you can see on the looping radar image, the system is losing its energy and winding down. so we'll start the forecast animation at 6 p.m. and notice those stubborn showers will still be out there over the mount hamilton area. they will quickly go away, giving way to at least partial clearing during the late night and overnight hours. we'll see a few clouds swinging through in the wee hours of the morning, but the day will start tomorrow with mainly sunny skies, and they'll remain that way up until about midday. right now we're looking at gusty conditions all around the bay area, with gusts up to 36mph in oakland, 30 at hayward, 28 here in san francisco. and those gusts are going to just gradually diminish as we get into the late night hours. it's a little bit warmer

by 2 to 4 degrees across most of the bay area. then at this time yesterday. so let's move along and take a look at current temperature readings here in san francisco. it's only 57. also 57 in san mateo and half moon bay. low 60s at oakland, hayward and san jose. beautiful view from the east bay hills. camera looking out over the bay. other temperature readings right now. 63 in santa rosa, 57 in petaluma. low 60s at napa, fairfield. mid to upper 50s at concord and livermore. and let's check out our forecast headlines. we will see clouds and showers departing tonight, tomorrow and tuesday sunnier and drier than this weekend has been. but by midweek we expect another rainy and cooler pattern to develop and that will take us into next weekend. overnight, as clouds stream through the bay area, sky low temperatures will be mainly in the mid to upper 40s and then tomorrow we have a partly to mostly sunny skies. there will be times of clouds, but skies will be bright for most of the day. high temperatures will be generally in the low to mid 60s, a little cooler closer to the coast with high temperatures there only in
