overnight of a midair scare. a boeing plane suddenly plunged midflight, tossing passengers from their seats injuring dozens. we're hearing from some of those people on board. trevor ault is at newark airport with the story. good morning, trevor. >> reporter: good morning, rebecca. this was terrifying for these passengers. especially because this had been a calm flight. lot of people had their seat belts unbuckled. it sent them flying up to the ceiling. one passenger comparing this to a horror movie. this morning new video from inside that plane that shows what happened in the moments after this boeing 787 dreamliner suddenly plunged mid flight up rooting passengers from their seat, tossing them around the cabin. one passenger describing the scene reminiscent of the exorcist as passengers who had removed their seat belts during the previously calm flight flew out of their seat, slamming their heads on the ceiling. >> everyone was terrified. there were people wandering all over.

there were people injured all over. >> reporter: another witness recounting it was similar to being at the top of a hill on a roller coaster and suddenly shooting all the way down with no warning. >> it was just like the worst form of turbulence you could think of. everyone hit the roof. >> reporter: at least 50 passengers treated for injuries, 13 are currently in the hospital. some of the patients had neck and head injuries, while others suffered broken bones. in a statement, the airlines referred to this as a technical event which led to a strong movement. they said they deeply regret any inconvenience or discomfort this may have caused. robin? >> had to be a frightening moment there. trevor, thank you. as millions of travellers look to start spring break, airlines at home were hit with a wave of delays and cancellations. ginger is tracking the storm and the impact and has that forecast for us. good morning, ginger. >> unfortunately, robin, and

everyone, we do have big wind, 40, 50 miles per hour winds right here in the northeast where only flights i just checked, couple hundred cancellations or delays already. over the weekend this storm was powerful. ef-2 tornado there in georgia. 130 mile per hour wind. they had five injuries in that one. there were a couple other tornados over the weekend as well in the southeast. as the storm made its way up, it pushed water on shore. you had coastal flooding at hampton beach, new hampshire. then it's all about these powerful winds. look at your site. you've got 40 to 55 mile per hour winds. they're gonna stay with us. not just through this morning but through this afternoon. if anybody has flights or anybody is trying to get back from the oscars -- [ laughter ] >> oops. >> okay, ginger. thanks. now the emerging showdown between president biden and israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu over the war in gaza. netanyahu rejected biden's order that israel would be crossing a red line if it phaumounts an ast on rafah. matt gutman is on scene. >> reporter: it's looking like a feud between president biden and

israeli prime minister netanyahu, now spilling out into the open, with president biden laying out those red lines. israeli prime minister vowing to defy them. it happens as ramadan begins with a fear of eruption of violence in the west bank and jerusalem. this morning israeli prime minister netanyahu vowing to defy a red line set by president biden over the weekend, demanding that israel not invade rafah where over 1 million displaced palestinians have sought refuge. >> he must, he must, he must, pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions being taken. >> reporter: netanyahu pushing back saying his troops will move into the area saying, we'll go there. we are not going to leave. you know, i have a red line. you know what that red line is? that october 7th doesn't happen again, never happens again. in a stark change of tone from the beginning of the war, president biden has said netanyahu's policies are hurting israel and was caught off mic at the state of the union address saying --

>> i told him -- [ inaudible ] >> reporter: the increasingly public feud comes as president biden is now demanding a cease fire and netanyahu vowing to fight on. the death toll in gaza now surpassing 31,000, according to the hamas run health ministry. the main concern remains rafah which holds half of the population and where the u.n. says dozens, mostly children, have died from malnutrition. the u.s. and other nations continue to air drop aid into gaza, but it's not enough. mean time, the u.s. military now has a ship in route with equipment but that is weeks away. george. >> okay, matt gutman, thank you very much. >> george, now march madness. overtime thriller for iowa and caitlin clark. they won their third consecutive big ten championship, beating nebraska 94-89 after a late comeback to tie the game. clark got off to a slow start

barbie took home one award for best original song. but oppenheimer ran away with seven awards. two emotional speeches last night from emma stone and da'vine joy randolph. lara has more interviews coming up. also right now spring break travel impacted over the weekend across the country. on saturday 1,300 southwest flights were delayed, many heading to and from florida. american airlines delayed nearly 1,100 flights sunday. southwest said they were working through challenges created by widespread popup thunderstorms and air space constraints across florida. the u.s. women's soccer team has won the inaugural women's gold cup. they beat brazil thanks to this goal. next up for the u.s. women the summer olympics in paris. >> that was a big win. that was a big win. they needed that. >> we're looking forward to paris, too. we've got a lot more ahead including the frightening

moments with a silver back gorilla at the texas zoo caught on camera. that's coming up. new questions for the royal family after they released a photo of princess kate with her kids. it's the first official photo since her abdominal surgery. it appears to have been doctors. foreign correspondent james longman is at buckingham palace. kate just released a statement about this moments ago. >> reporter: that's right. this is all very strange. there have been mounting concerns for kate since she went into the hospital this year for abdominal surgery. trying to quell some of that speculation. the palace put out a photograph of her and her three children. but it looks like it had been photo shopped. kate has apologized for what she's called editing. but if this photo was meant to calm the situation, it's done the opposite. this morning an apparent royal photo fail. four of the world's biggest news agencies removing this picture of princess kate and her three children from their platform just hours after its release from kensington palace

over the belief it had been manipulated by a source. the ap telling abc news the photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of princess charlotte's left hand. >> you have four of the biggest respected news agencies saying the photograph shouldn't have been used because it's been manipulated. i have never seen anything like it. >> reporter: kensington palace shared the image of kate and the children sunday morning to honor mother's day in the u.k. it was the first official photo since her abdominal surgery. captioned thank you for your kind wishes. and continued support over the last two months. the palace said it was snapped by prince william last week. this morning princess kate put out a new statement writing, like many amateur photographers i do experiment with editing. i wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. >> they obviously put that photograph out to try to quell speculation. as a result they were hoping that it would stop there. but all it's done is add to these conspiracy theories.

>> reporter: kate is the most popular member of the british royal family. the palace remained tight lipped about her where abouts, saying only she was doing well. they would only provide an update if there was significant information and she was unlikely to return to public duties until after easter. she was discharged on january 29 but has not been seen since christmas. social media whipped itself into a concern and conspiracy. last week paparazzi snapped a photo out with her mother. the family finds themselves in a health crisis. the king charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer shortly after kate's surgery. he shared this photo sunday with his with his late mother elizabeth saying wishing all mothers and those who are missing their mums today a peaceful mother and son day. we all know photos can be enhanced. official royal photographers are no different. but this seems to have been done so badly and at such a delicate

time. it's piling pressure on the palace. guys? >> still so many questions there. all right, james. thank you. we turn now to the frightening moment at a texas zoo going viral, showing a gorilla charging two zoo keepers. they were inadvertently trapped in the enclosure with the animal leading to a tense standoff. janai norman is here with the story. good morning, janai. >> good morning, rebecca. human error, so says the ft. worth zoo, is what led to this scary scene. a silver back gorilla, that can grow to be about 6 feet tall, weigh some 400 pounds. incredibly strong, occasionally aggressive against two defenseless zoo keepers. the wild video going viral. a massive gorilla going after two zoo keepers. the 34-year-old silver back named elmo, charging and cornering the zoo keepers unexpectedly trapped in his enclosure. elmo standing guard before rushing toward the second zoo keeper eventually clearing the way for the woman to escape.

the ft. worth zoo in a statement saying each day zoo keepers shift the gorillas into their indoor habitat so that keepers can place the animals' lunch in their outdoor habitat. but on this day in october, staff entered the yard unaware that the silver back was still there, calling the dangerous encounter an error. >> so many things could have went wrong in that video. it's ridiculous how strong they are. but most of the time they're a very gentle giant unless they are provoked or they are defending their female or babies in the troupe. >> reporter: it's not first incident involving humans and silver backs. >> my son fell in the zoo with the gorilla. my son fell in with the gorilla. there is a male gorilla standing over him. >> reporter: in 2016, 17-year-old endangered gorilla horumbe going viral when the cincinnati emergency response team shot and killed the massive mammal to save the
