the assaults, calling him an ongoing threat and peril to this country. prosecutors have argued he had called for a tax on the government for years and was doing so on january 6th to keep donald trump in power. a defiant road calling himself a political prisoner, abc chief justice leading us off tonight. >> tonight the leader of the oath keepers militia headed to prison for nearly two decades for his role as one of the main architects in a january 6th attack of the u.s. capitol. and handing down the 18 year prison term for seditious conspiracy along with some january 6 defendant, federal judge annika maeda calls stuart rhodes an ongoing threat and apparel to the country. the judge imposed a lengthy sentence putting down terrorist and harassment charges. saying he was an insurrectionist. "what we absolutely cannot have as a group of citizens who because they did not like the outcome of an election then form a revolution. that is what you did." but rhodes was defiant calling himself a political prisoner,

telling the judge "like president trump, my only crime was opposing those who are destroying our country." prosecutors said the evidence against rhodes was overwhelming, put into this video from november 2020 where rhodes predicted violence. >> we have men already stationed outside d.c. has a nuclear option in case they attempt to remove the president illegally, we will stop it. >> and the fbi says images of guns stored in the local hotel outside of washington, d.c., are part of the oath keepers so-called quick reaction force. the proof the group was there to wage war and keep former president trump in office. the oath keepers and their proud boys prosecutors say played a pivotal role in sparking the violence and other writers. >> david, that sentence means a long time behind bars for the leader of the oath keepers. up next to seditious conspiracy sentencing for the leader of the proud boys, and said that it is

>> watching it on the hill for us, rachel scott, thank you. and a young american tourist is recovering from a horrific shark attacks in turks and caicos, and losing her leg, here is abcs reporter. >> reporter: a connecticut woman in the hospital after a shark bit off her leg and turks and caicos, and was snorkeling with a friend at a local area employed from the nearby resort for an emergency call saying that the victim had her leg bitten off by a shark, the incident the latest in a string of shark encounters before memorial day weekend and the start of the summer travel season. and store in harbor new jersey, teenager bitten in the leg while holding her surfboard, and body camera video obtained by wplg showing first responders racing to help 20-year-old kevin bronco after he was bitten on the leg

well. >> david: rob marciano with us again tonight, thank you. now to the case of mississippi, the 11-year-old boy shot in the chest by a police officer after that boy had called 911 for help. tonight the investigation of calls for action and of course how did this happen? here is abcs steve now. >> no justice, no peace. >> in the middle -- friends and family of a police shooting victim are marching on city hall calling for the firing of one of their police officers. on saturday 11-year-old darian murray was shot in the chest inside his own home by an officer who was responding to a call for help. >> this boy was unarmed, he had nothing in his hands, so we could not have received a threat. >> the issue is with his mom's ex-boyfriend who she says was violent with her before and showed up at the home again around 4:00 a.m. her son was woken up by the fighting was one of the people who called police. authorities knew there were children at the home.

>> once he was like, come out with your hands up, and at that moment is when my son came out. >> why the officer fired his gun and pointed it at the child is unclear and city police aren't commenting at this point. >> you are asking someone to come out with their hands up, but you are shooting. i don't understand. >> but in a statement the mississippi bureau of investigation says that after the gun fired the boy received significant injuries and had to be transported to a local hospital. >> he was like i don't want to die, that's what he was saying, while i was on the ground and i said you are n going to die, baby. you are not going to die, just keep talking. >> tonight his mother wants the police officer charged. >> her son had a collapsed lung and a cut on his liver. the mayor says the officer who shot him has been suspended. no word yet on what happened if anything to the ex-boyfriend. david. >> david: so many questions on this case, thank you. tonight another case making national headlines, the bride killed just hours after her

wedding. the never before seen surveillance video that shows what appears to be the golf cart carrying the bride and groom and the vehicle speeding in the same direction right after them. here is abcs eva pilgrim. >> tonight, never before seen video showing the moments before an alleged drunk driver crashed into a golf cart killing a bride on her wedding night. >> the last thing i remember her saying was she wanted the night to never end. >> in the video obtained exclusively by daily mail it appears to show eric and sam hutchinson riding on their golf cart moments later you see a car speeding down the street. then shortly after that, first responders speed by rushing to the scene of the crash. police and folly beach, south carolina say that jamie , plowed into the couple going 65 and a 25-mile-an-hour zone. sam was killed in the crash. eric and his brother-in-law was also in the cart were badly injured. >> is there anything you would like to say to the driver? >> no, i can't right now. i would like to, i mean, she stole something.

she stole an amazing human being that should not have been taken. >> the driver is now facing dui charges for the crash, her blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit and is still behind bars tonight. david. >> david: eva pilgrim with us tonight, thank you. there is news this evening on former president trump's handling of classified documents at mar-a-lago after our team reported that documents were moved after the subpoena, now "the washington post" reporting they removed the day before federal agents visit the property. here's terry miranda. >> two a former president trump's employees moved boxes and papers from a storage room inside the mar-a-lago home just one day before fbi agents visited the property last june according to "the washington post." the move coming after the team received a subpoena from the justice department for

classified documents. abc news previously reported that investigators suspect those boxes contained classified material. based on witness statements, security camera footage and other documentary evidence according to sources familiar with the investigation. the timing of the moving of the boxes has raised suspicions and was all done in an effort to obstruct the federal investigation according to the post. the former president said that he had a right to those documents. >> i took the documents, i am allowed to. >> sources familiar with the investigation said that federal investigators believe that donald trump kept documents in his office in private residence possibly showing the document to his visitors. >> special counsel jack smith has investigated these matters in any final decision on any charges could be coming as soonest the summer. >> david: terry moran tonight also in washington. thank you. now to the race for the white house, ron desantis officially on the campaign trail after his botched launch on twitter and asked in a series of interviews what happened.
