libeen don'tndifinstll told to head to shelters. the us navy has sent every ship out to sea as a precaution. a new report imagines a worst case scenario in which a blackout hits phenix, arizona, during a heat wave. it says half the city, nearly 800,000 people, would require emergency care for heat related illnesses and thousands would die. researchers say other cities are also at risk, especially since the number of major blackouts in the us has more than doubled since 2015. a familiar and horrifying story is playing out in the catholic church in illinois. a long awaited state investigation revealed hundreds more abuse cases than had previously been known. here's abc's alex perez. the state of illinois releasing a five year investigation into child sex abuse in the catholic church. the report finding nearly 2000 children were abused

es by 450 priests and lay religious brothers across illinois. when such trust is betrayed and with abuse to children and there are efforts to cover it up, the call for accountable laity should be resounding. the investigation found a staggering four times the number of abuse than the church had identified, saying, quote, horrifying criminal and unconscionable acts were inflicted upon survivors. the report uncovering a disturbing but familiar pattern where child sex abusers were transferred between parishes. but their history of abuse was hidden from the catholic community and the public. the archbishop of chicago apologized to the victims, but insisting to our abc station, wls, the church has made great progress. there are many open wounds in the lives of people and we want to attend to that for the survivors,aid to d-
