the 50's. live doppler 7 picking up on the clouds in the south bay. a live look at the golden gate bridge, it is all gray. 52 san francisco. half moon bay has fog. 55 palo alto. slow to clear out of the 51 santa rosa. 52 novato. 54 concord. visibility 2 miles in half moon bay. looking at breezy wind with up to 24 miles an hour through the delta. that is going to keep us from getting too warm. 70's returned to the mountains with afternoon thunderstorms. a possibility we will be talking about temperature slowly climbing with sunny conditions around the bay and inland communities for most. fog will spread across the bayshore, limiting some of our warming. as we get to our warm afternoon, we will talk about a cool down for the week ahead.

liz: investigators are trying to figure out what happened after an officer killed a man after a standoff at a neighborhood market. the standoff started on bosworth street after 2:00 yesterday. police responded to reports of a man entering a home with a gun. it ended three and a half hours later with officers opening fire on the suspect. ryan curry was at the scene and has details. >> a three hour standoff near san francisco paschal and park neighborhood ended with police shooting and killing a man. officers say the man was armed with a gun when he entered a store on the corner of bosworth -- street. >> we were trying to negotiate. we were trying to negotiate a peaceful resolution. the amount of information at this time is preliminary. >> our media partners at the san francisco standard state employees reported the man lived above the store.

police told the standard the man was carrying alcohol and cocaine before he reached for his gun. >> a lot of the attention is focused on that street corner where most of the officers and investigators remain. multiple agencies are on scene including the san francisco district attorney. >> every few minutes, it sounded like they were asking him to come outside with his hands up and he didn't. >> michaela mcfarlane heard almost the entire confrontation, including the gunfire. >> fast, rapid succession. and that was it. i mean, a sinking feeling in my body. knowing what is going down. >> she says she has lived in this neighborhood for several years but lately has been growing concern. >> it has been insane how much is going on. my parents had their catalytic converter stolen twice within a matter of months.

people are always coming down the corner constantly trying to break into cars. having cars stolen. >> sfpd is not releasing the name of the man. this is the department first to shooting by an officer this year. >> in the spirit of accountability and transparency, the san francisco police department will be hosting a town hall meeting to disclose as much information as we can from this incident. intowith t guardg.sushppened ah according to the san francisco standard, the ceo of kingdom group protective services received a call about the decision last week. walgreens, which hired the firm through a larger contracting company, did not comment. the district attorney is not

filing charges. in half moon bay, a summit will be held to address how the community can improve the lives of farmworkers nearly four months after the tragic mass shootings at two different farms were seven were killed. the summit aims to shed light on challenges farmworkers face including living conditions. it will be held today from 1:00 to 3:00 after the boys and girls club events center. residents of the rural marin county town of molina's are rallying for a new post office. the town has been without a post office for nearly three months after a dispute between the usps and the landlord of the building. residents have had to drive 20 to 40 minutes round trip to get their mail and packages. usps tells abc7 they are actively looking for a permanent location. caltrans will a y 47 for trackepair.

bridge thursday. officials say there is a possibility the roads will flood again and will have to close. the river is expected to reach flood levels by monday. bay area congress member ro khanna doubling down on his calls for dianne feinstein to step down. her health has been of major focus lately, even more so after she appeared confused speaking to a reporter. ro khanna is among the democrats are her to step down. matters on the judiciary committee could be addressed. in an interview, ro khanna said feinstein's refusal to step away has created a sad situation. >> in washington, saying a gaffe is saying the truth out loud. that is the only thing i have done. it is painful to watch and i wish people who were close to her who have been friends of hers and her family will talk to her about doing the right thing and stepping down with dignity.

liz: senator confirmed she experienced a broader health complications following her shingles diagnosis than had previously been reported. festive night in san jose. for small businesses it was an opportunity to shine and show off their culture. lauren martinez takes us to the night market. >> asian identity can mean different things. friday evening, san jose's night market was dedicated to asian-american and pacific islander heritage month. >> we want people to walk away with a sense of community. >> the non-profit brought to go there over 40 businesses, food trucks and artists. each one had a story. >> there is this japanese concept where your purpose of living. >> leah created her jewelry during the pandemic. >> i am half japanese.

liz: here is a live look outside. you can see the fog. big news for the bay area, the super bowl is coming back in 2026. the last time it was here was in 2016. as you might expect and zach fuentes explains, a lot of people are already seeing dollar signs. >> there's a lot of excitement in the area over the potential of something that is still only a possibility.

the super bowl could be making its return to levi's stadium in 2026. >> this is an opportunity to raise pride. >> 49ers bid to host the super bowl is slated for approval by the nfl next week. levi's stadium's home city of santa clara said the city is excited about the potential opportunity to have the super bowl back in santa clara and work with the bay area host committee, pending the decision next week. the potential opportunity has business officials like the hotel council of san francisco excited as well. >> yes, it will benefit our hotels. it will benefit our tax base. but it will also help our partners for the restaurants, the coffee shops, small businesses. >> an estimated 350 $1 million was brought to the bay area in 2016. a big event does not always mean big money for the business is just down the street. some tell me it keeps potential customers away. >> they come early and perkier

direct business travel spending. the estimates the game in 2016 triggered more than $15 billion in consumer spending. a report commissioned last year for the super bowl in los angeles estimated on average visitors in town for the super bowl would spend $200 to $300 a day. happening today, the grand opening of a seven bedroom home at ronald mcdonald house charities. the celebration will include a block party at 10:00 ththe homem children's hospital. it provides families a place to stay well children receive treatments. >> they need to be near the hospital. for about 100 days after their transplant. what we are able to provide is a spot literally across the street from the hospital that allows parents and the patient to be

livermore temperatures near 80 today. walnut creek, you can see the fog making its way all the way over the east bay hills. but, beginning to see brighter conditions. overall, mostly cloudy. gusty wind at the coast with cool conditions. my old inland, then looking at temperatures warming up a little bit for sunday and monday looks to be the warmest. here is for a sunny saturday, except for the coast. pretty good onshore wind. looking at the afternoon for sunday with high clouds, but look at the clearing coming into play for monday afternoon. the breezy wind, notice the colors from the yellows and oranges here all the way across the bay through the afternoon, up to 30 maybe 35 miles an hour. already seeing that by the delta. sunday, warmer inland. into the 80's. coming up, 4° along the east bay shoreline. today, the finger of fog keeping

be electric. a european company is hoping to help lead the way. i got to take a ride on a zero emission boat that essentially flies above the waves. >> shall we? >> at first glance, it blends in with the hundreds of other boats . but the moment we hit the water, we realized part of what makes it so different. >> it is quiet. >> very quiet. >> why? >> fully electric. no combustion. liz: this boat was company from stockholm. >> it basically is a boat that flies above the waves. i were basically uses 80% less energy than a traditional speedboat would. the mission is to accelerate the transition to fossil fuel free waterways. >> riding around the bay was

admittedly cool. but this is not actually the boat we came to talk about. candela is currently building a fully electric fairy, seen in these renderings. it is a 40 foot catamaran that can hold up to 40 people. the hope is that it will eventually replace the bigger diesel fueled ferries we rode today. the speed of these boats is a big part. right now it takes 30 minutes to get from sausalito to san francisco. with an electric fairy, it is half that. >> it can allow for the waterways to be a better way to commute anywhere in the bay. >> the push is already underway. the agency that provides ferry service was awarded a nearly $14 million grant from the state to help electrify bay area ferry terminals. candela says the city of stockholm has plans to test their ferry later this year. after that, they hope to be in the bay area. >> it made sense to be based here in communities that take

bring migrants across the border. the population in the bay area's biggest cities are declining, according to numbers from the census bureau. oakland ranks -- san jose is no longer a top most populated city. it dropped to 12. now some are wondering what we have lost or what other cities have gained. dustin dorsey takes a look at the numbers and explains what it will mean for san jose. >> san jose is shrinking. the sentence bureau report the bay area's biggest city has fallen out of the top 10 most populated in the u.s.. does it surprise you? >> no. it does not. we have seen polling for years saying residents are frustrated with the high cost of living and quality of life issues. >> in july, the city had an estimated population of just over one million. down to around 981000 and 2021.

in 2022, 900 71,000, which now ranks 12th overall in the country falling behind jacksonville and austin. the mayor says falling out of the top 10 for the first time in more than a decade is a concerning wake-up call. >> we have amazing weather, great companies, diverse workforce, so many assets. if we are going to continue to grow and provide high quality of life, we are going to have to get back to basics. >> that means properly staffing the police department, continuing to work towards ending the housing crisis and making the city feel safe. but, economics professor matt holy and says the city has seen -- due to demand. >> as house prices have fallen, the property tax base goes down and cities are able to collect less tax revenue. that is going to affect budgets. everything from police to

schools, basic street cleaning. >> oakland and san francisco have joined san jose in declining populations in the past year, which only makes the problems on the streets more visible. the mayor says he ran for office to buck the trend and is confident in the city possibility to grow. >> san jose is the capital of silicon valley. where the biggest city in the region and we need to lead the region out of this funk. liz: our new documentary california dreaming, moving to texas, follows californians for a year. you can see the surprising things we learned. it is streaming on-demand. this morning, a psychology professor suing the uc system, claiming it violates the first amendment. -- sees the diversity, equity
