w written p f they spent all day saturday preparing a counter offer. >> for pe teachers, it shows it would be a class-size reduction. one pe teacher would get to students, which would be great if it was a personal training class but that is not what are pe classes are. >> she is part of the 15 member bargaining team. she says that should be 248 students, not two. such errors are raising concerns over efforts being put forth by the district. >> we need them to take the time to analyze the work they are putting forward to us. >> the union says it has not met face-to-face with the district's negotiating team since tuesday. the district did not return requests for comment but did put out a statement saturday morning. it says what is being offered is a historic $70 million for teacher salaries. it highlights concessions made

on teacher workload. the deadlock is n good proposals, issues that go beyond classroom learning. issues like environmental justice, transportation and student homelessness. the district argues these are greater societal issues and are not mandatory to negotiate. therefore, the district has not given authorization to its team to bargain on these points. >> we know our working conditions are directly related to students learning conditions. >> the union argues common good is part of the comprehensive faction -- factors. one example, california is investing have any -- heavily in committee services. the union says regarding community schools, an agreement on common good is about accountability. >> so that all of us have a voice and how that money is being used. that can be very threatening to people in power. that, i think, is the root of

the struggle right now. liz: overnight, m hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed at the lake merritt bart station. police first responded to a disturbance on a train around 9:30 last night. officers say when they arrived, they saw a 15-year-old stabbed a 59-year-old man in his back. the teen was detained and taken to juvenile hall. at least one person is dead following a crash on the north livermore road to westbound interstate 580. it happened just after nine :00 last night. the california highway patrol said at least three vehicles were involved. one of the cars slammed into a light pole. witnesses say the cars may have been racing. tomorrow, the suspect arrested in a string of stabbings and davis will be in court for a preliminary hearing. carlos dominguez plead not guilty on friday. he's accused of stabbing three people, killing two of them, and leaving one woman severely injured.

police say he was a student at uc davis until two weeks ago when he was separated for academic reasons. he is being held without bond. new this pye va blue has died. he was 73 years old. he was the star for both the a's and giants and 13 consecutive world series titles during oakland dynasty during the early 70's. the team released a statement saying there are few players with a more decorated career. he was a three-time champion and m.v.p., a six-time all-star, cy young award winner and a's hall of famer. he will always be a franchise legend and friend. we send our deepest condolences to his families and friends in this arduous time. the family did not state a cause of death. dubnation is not celebrating after the los angeles lakers turn the tables. the lakers lead the series 2-1. chris alvarez reports from l.a.. >> for the second straight time

suspended indefinitely after using a racial slur when mentioning the negro leagues baseball museum in kansas city. it came during a pregame segment on friday. he made the apology and they games sixth inning. the a's released a statement saying the language used is unacceptable. he is called play-by-play for the a's since 2006. the california reparations task force voted to approve recommendations for a final proposal to be delivered to state lawmakers. the task force has studied and researched the negative impacts of slavery on its descendants for more than two years. their proposal for african americans living in california contains 95 recommendations and calls for payments and reforms to offset the legacy of slavery come housing discrimination and other forms of racial injustice. analysts say the time is now. >> i think there comes a point in time that we have to be practitioners, we've got to be social engineers.

liz: here's a live look at the golden gate bridge. a pretty start to this sunday. developing new out of chico -- authorities are investigating after a shooting left a 17-year-old girl dead and five others hurt. chico police say the suspect has not been arrested but they say there is no threat to the public. officers believe the shooting was not random but are still at work to confirm if the victims were targeted. police say they responded to the same party 30 minutes before the shooting following reports of someone brandishing a gun at the party. that suspect was taken into custody. on the peninsula, hundreds of guns were turned in after an anonymous buyback program. residents received after to hunt -- up to $200 for each gun.

nearly 2700 firearms have been removed in the county's gun buyback events. a second event is scheduled for december. an caltrans after they decided to close off ramp during cinco de mayo celebrations this weekend. low riders and custom-built cars have been rollings through the streets of san jose and this comes after san jose lifted its decades long and implementing no cruising zones. san jose police and caltrans decided to close off ramps due to increased crowds. one assembly member claims this is the only event where local agencies shut down off ramps. >> they are hanging on to things that happened 20 or 30 years ago. ultimately, if that is the case, that is stereotypical and racist for them to think because this is a holiday celebrating latinos that instinctively there is going to be violence. liz: several off ramps in east san jose are closed today from 4

p.m. to two p.m.. a newly constructed offramp to your about buena island is open. a ribbon-cutting was held for the ramp. drivers will notice a big change. a new ramp is off the far right lane of the lower deck of the tunnel. the former offramp will remain open for several weeks to give drivers time to adjust to this new location. thousands of people are converging on san francisco to watch high-tech sailboats from around the world rates at super high speeds. the u.s. sale grand prix is returning to the bay area for its third year at a time when local tourism officials say it is needed most. cornell barnard gives us a look. >> if you have a need fo check out this adrenaline pumping sailboat race on the bay known as sale gp where 50 foot catamarans almost fly across the water so close to shore.

be in the 60's and talking that major snowmelt as we get into the end of the week as everybody in california warms up. partly to mostly sunny skies. the clouds increase and a chance of a shower combined to the north bay and that system moves through. by the as ernn t on the cooler side. we have our warm up but system departing, there is another system. sunny skies and there is the first system that could bring in a strangle, certainly breezy and cooler afternoon. late monday, the clouds increase again for a coolish tuesday this is wednesday where we break out into more sun and we are in the 60's to 70's. you can see the warm up, keeping it cool on the coast but it doesn't last a isnto thursday. widespread, mid-upper 60's

with several competing horses now dead. authorities at churchill downs say two more horses slated for the races yesterday sustained crippling leg injuries, forcing veterinarians to euthanize the animals. five other racehorses died in separate instances since april 27th leading up to the race. churchill downs says it is working with regulators to investigate. 43 republican senators say they will oppose raising the debt ceiling unless the white house makes economic concessions. they signed the letter to majority leader chuck schumer on saturday. this comes as the u.s. could default by june 1 unless the debt ceiling is raised. present joe biden is set to meet with the leaders of each chamber of commerce on tuesday to discuss spending and the debt. in the south bay, santa clara county has released its latest budget plan with a goal of closing a 120 million dollar deficit. they want to fill the gap by eliminating 650 out of roughly 35 hundred already vacant

than three years after they were first declared. if you have this covid-19 test, the fda says to throw it out because concerns of bacterial contamination. this is for the pilot at home tests which have been recalled. half a million tests were distributed to cbs and thousands of others were bought through amazon. if you have these kits, you are told to throw them away and do not put the liquid down the drain. residents are looking for an answer about the safety of their soil and the food they are growing. contra costa county began collecting samples which may have been contaminated by chemical accident at the martinez refinery company in november. as tara campbell tells us, people are losing patience as planting season begins. >> patience is running low and frustrations high as planting season gets underway. >> most of our customers live in martinez and they have been very concerned. >> customers worried about the fate and safety of their

vegetable gardens and fruit trees. >> quite a few of them grow their own vegetables and they have taken years to get their soil to where it needs to be. >> contra costa county began collecting soil samples for more than a dozen sites, potentially contaminated by the martinez refining co. last thanksgiving. >> its recommended residents near the refinery and who saw the catalyst dust as a result of the release during thanksgiving holiday do not eat any produce or vegetables grown from their gardens. >> the refinery accidentally released up to 24 tons of metal-laden spent catalyst dust into areas of martinez and venetia. >> i went out to my car one morning and it was about a quarter of an inch thick of sit on my car. >> the county is investigating the chemical release and has referred the case to the district attorney's office. >> my grandmother lives in downtown martinez.

liz: here is a live look outside looking over the bay on this sunday. new this morning, tiger woods is being accused of sexual harassment by his ex-girlfriend according to a court filing. woods accusative pursuing a sexual relationship with her while she worked for him. she claims he claimed her to sign a nondisclosure agreement or should be fired from her job. this is the second time she's filed a complaint against the 15 time major champion. the lakers bounced back, taking game three in a series, which is bad news for warriors fans. but on the diamond, it was good news for the san francisco giants. game three of their playoff series and then the wheels came off. turnovers, a lack of energy and the lakers blew them off the court. lakers u tone in
