the new sticker shock at the supermarket a carton of eggs for $11 and rooftop prowler, how this bear ended up on the roof of this home. from abc news in new york. this is america this morning. good morning, everyone . i'm andrew timber. and i'm christie ileto in very in and we begin with another travel nightmare for people across the country and now the demand for answers more than 10,000 flights have been delayed or canceled after a maintenance error caused the computer system failure at the faa yesterday, leading to the first ground stop since 9 11. longtime pilots say this kind of problem is unheard of, and congress is now vowing to look into it as lawmakers prepare to make big decisions about faa funding. alright, abc is justin finches. here to break it all down for us, justin. good morning. andrew good morning, and this morning, the nation's air carriers are aiming to recover from thousands of flight delays and cancelations as

transportation officials now work to make sure it doesn't happen again. at airports across the country questions and confusion. it's just pure chaos called for boarding started the boarding and then all of a sudden they called us off more than 10,000. u s flights delayed and over 1300 canceled wednesday , the first nationwide ground stoppage since 9 11 now traced to an f a, a system failure, undergoing routine maintenance. a senior official says it appears in f a, a computer engineer mistakenly replaced one file with another, the essential system. they begin showing problems before failing despite staffers efforts to identify the issue. we're going to own it, we're going to find it and we're going to fix it. abc news learning the f a first noticed a concern with his note him or notice to air mission systems, which provides real time safety information to pilots before takeoff on tuesday. the backup

system kicked in, and the main system followed, but ongoing issues overnight prompted the faa seven a.m. nationwide ground stop, which was lifted by nine a.m, but widespread delays had already begun. what people need to know is that we will not allow anything to take place that is not safe hours after that f a ground stop. canada's no temp system also saw allergies. officials in canada don't believe the two allergies are connected. the faa fallout again puts aging air industry technology in the spotlight. southwest airlines partly blamed its cancelation of more than 15,000 flights two weeks ago on his own outdated system and concerns about flights today, a top member of the allied pilots association says the ripple effects of delays and cancelations from the ground stoppage could linger into friday. andrew all right, justin. thank you. meanwhile, california is bracing for more rain and snow as the death toll

worker were repairing sewer lines when the trench collapsed around them. one worker climbed out with the other was buried up to his chin for more than eight hours. the trench was heated. we monitor the atmosphere of the air quality in the trench at the whole time, he was given fluids and he was given just general pain medication. wiley is in the trench. so the whole time he was in the trench. he was under the paramedics care. he was rushed to the hospital, but is said to be conscious and alert this morning. president biden is facing new scrutiny over his handling of classified documents after the discovery of another batch of documents and we're told this time the papers were found in a different location this morning, abc news has learned. president biden's legal team has found a second batch of classified documents just days after the white house confirmed classified records were founded biden's former d c office last november before the midterm elections. sources say after that, first batch of about 10 documents was found. aids began

searching for more documents leading to this second discovery . republicans want attorney general merrick garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate, as was done in the mara lago documents case focusing on former president trump's handling of documents can't be that we have two tiers of justice in this country. it can't be that there's one rule for republicans. and a different rule for democrats. you know, merrick, garland said. all we have to have a special prosecutor for trump will. that means we've got to have one for biden. some democrats also critical of the president. classified documents belong in classified settings. no word yet on where the leaders documents were found, or how many there were. the house oversight committee is vowing to investigate its chairman, is demanding to see the documents, he said. well, there's only 10 documents in that first batch. we don't know how many in this second batch, but as soon as they found it, they turned it over. well we don't know that that's just what they said. the white house says, unlike in the mara lago case as soon as biden's lawyers found the first batch of documents they alerted
