what are you learning? >> reporter: this happened at a food concession stand called the stage right cafe, located right next to the amphi30 for a conference held tonight. this facility is being leased for the google annual developer's conference and thousands of people have been here on site all day and on site when the explosion happened. five injured and one believed to be critical with burns to the face and two went to the hospital for treatment and two others declined medical traemt and or transferred to the hospital. the facility is not yesterday open to the public set up for guest food services. >> i just turned around. there was a loud explosion and i immediately saw smoke and people running out. i knew there was something wrong and got my supervisor and

engaging in lewd acts with children as young as 3 years old. >> reporter: police provided this booking photo with a child under 14 and the other under 10. they say she's a nurse from tucson, arizona. neurosurgeon, james kohut was a traveling doctor from santa cruz. he and michelle brandon are also charged in the case. investigators said the video was very zuckerberg. i have not necessarily seen a case like this in my career. it's very sad. >> reporter: police tell us the victims range in age from 3 to 13 years old. kohut and brandon worked at dominican hospital in santa cruz. on brandon's facebook page she

wrote, i'm a mom and nurse and love my friends and family. her neighbors are now horrified. >> i can't speak about it, it's so heartbreaking, so many lives are ruined as a result of this. >> reporter: police are still investigating and working with the fbi because they say the crimes committed did cross state lines. police are asking anyone who may be a victim in this case to please come forward. abc7 news. %-pt involves more than half a dozen east bay law enforcement agency, the teenager at the core of all of this testified for the first time in the trial of one of the officers now going to trial. live at the hearing and what happened in court today. kate. >> reporter: she is now 19 years old and did testify against one of the police officers for the

ruling today, bunton will stand trial for obstruction and prescription drugs trials he doesn't believe the jury will convict on. >> i don't believe the record the facts as we know them would support a conviction. >> reporter: during the testimony, seen here last year in an interview with dan noyes getting angry with bunton via phone messages threatening to quote snitch on him by showing oakland pd's internal affairs department a record of their conversations. the daughter of an oakland dispatcher an related to investigations of dozens of officers throughout the bay area. in hayward, abc7 news. a state auditor levied sharp criticism against the uc office of the president. at the california regents meeting, she faced pushback from janet napolitano's office as she investigated a secret slush fund focusing on the 175 million

california and has patients fighting for their lives. abc sandwich news reporter, wayne freedman is there live. >> reporter: botulism is formed from a toxin found in bacterial spores. we have a patient, a 37-year-old man from sacramento. his name is -- sorry, martin valendo, from the sacramento area and by all accounts battling a most severe case of a rare disease. roughly 110 cases a year in the united states, just 110 and we're having an outbreak in northern california. it is not an isolated case and they all appear to have come from here, the valley oak food and fuel gas station at walnut grove. as of this morning they had confirmed five cases with three other pobls and one suspected, a total of nine thus far all from tainted nachos cheese sauce

served inside from april 22nd and may 5th. >> i've never seen my sister not have function of her body or be able to communicate. >> reporter: that's teresa kelly describing her 33-year-old sister who has spent three weeks in a sacramento intensive care ward. her symptoms began with slurred peach. >> basically she's saying, sister i need you here now. >> reporter: botulism can show up in many forms, none pleasant. >> nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea and typically in the face. difficulty swallowing and difficulty speaking and one eyelid lagging. >> reporter: mother of three, she had been preparing for a wedding. while she remains aware her motor skills are so far gone she

an 18-year-old from michigan was killed. look at these images. richard rojas was tackled as he tried to run from the scene, a navy veteran with two prior dui arrests. sources say he tested negative for alcohol but testing to determine if he was high on drugs. no indication the crash was terrorism related but increased security at key locations as a precaution. >> president trump says the appointment of a special counsel to investigate last year's presidential election hurts the

assemblyman says he calls on congress to impeach the president if he does not resign. wall street recovered today one day after the biggest drop in eight months. investors have calmed somewhat after yesterday's big sell-off sparked by that special counsel investigation of president trump. the dow and nasdaq finished the day in positive territory. the caltrans transit appears to still be in limbo. >> more on caltran's money troubles in a moment. let's start with your choices. these are the four designs they want you to vote on, number one like the one, red, white, some or one of these will be chosen as the new electric fleet to replace the current trains.

temperatures will continue rising tomorrow, summer-like heat this weekend especially near the bay and inland. a cooling trend starting early next week. overnight, skies will be clear, not very cool, a little mild. we'll see lows dropping to the mid 40s. tomorrow, another warm day coming our way. come on, clicker, work. upper 80s to 90 degrees in our warmest inland location. the heat continues to come our way on saturday. we will see inland highs in the low 90s, sunday, low to mid 90s and 80s around the bay. then, on monday, it remains hot inland and a few low 90s and start to cool down near the coast and bay and further cooling next week. a look at our weather for sunday here in san francisco. sunny skies throughout the day, early morning, most of the runners are getting started. bright and sunny, temperatures

contract. san francisco's tallest art sculpture was unveiled today, this 92 foot representation of venus. the sculpture is made of stainless steel, sits in a new one acre plaza in the market area, the high-rise development was the work of angelo who died a year and half ago not able to see this opening but his widow was and spoke to the crowd. >> this really was something that took every ounce of himself to put forward. >> the venus culture is about the same size as the statute of liberty if measured heel to crown. it was under cobb construction nine years and features 1800 apartments. >> not a lot of doubt we're in a bay area housing crisis. >> tonight, where we could find $300 million to help fix that problem.

death impacted them. the mother cried on the stand as she talked about her as a caring person who loved to dance and the hardest part watching her smiling and lip syncing to a song. >> it's the first time i heard her speak live on a video. that was really hard because i've been avoiding that because it's been so painful just to look at videos of her. i've been doing it a lot lately the past month. >> reporter: the father steve talked about her as funny and playful and in an effectious laugh. >> it's been hard. only been able to watch videos in the last year or so. it's hard and still cry. >> reporter: tears filled the eyes of several jurors while the convicted killer torres avoided eye contact and didn't look at the slides and video. the jury looked sad.

for a cause. happening now the community meeting made by a noise of planes around the airport. ? san mateo residents complained how loud they are. the county is contemplating options including a proposed curfew. today marked the ground breaking of affordable housing in oakland, providing two and three bedroom units. these pictures were tweeted from this morning's event. the vice mayor of oakland was among those at the celebration. the apartments are expected to open sometime next fall. california's housing crisis the worst it's been in years. one lawmaker says there are charges under way to try to fix that problem. estimated 130 bills on housing have been introduced in just the past few months. >> we have completely failed to invest in affordable housing, cut funding massively, close to $2 billion a year we used to

spend before the great recession we're no longer spending. >> governor brown's latest revised state budget did not set aside any new funds for affordable housing projects. the proposed bill would boost funding by about $300 million by eliminating tax breaks currently in place on second homes. the bill will be voted on next by assembly appropriations committee. >> to tonight's bay area business watch we'll start with free charging for electric cars. voltage charging showed this picture on facebook showing one of two new stations just went live at oracle arena and oakland coliseum, calling itself the biggest charging company in the big boost for online shopping in walmart and in stores as they offer a discount for picking up in stores.

walmart, the world's largest retailer. overshadowing another incident dubbed the second pearl harbor, on sunday. speaking with a survivor who grew up in pittsburgh and now lives in concord. >> reporter: to his neighbors, the 91-year-old retired patrol officer likes driving his tiny train around the tracks he laid with his own hands. in 1944, he was a witness to a little talked about disaster. >> i was a little kid and exciting. >> reporter: three years after the japanese attack, he was a soldier assigned to the west lock and one of many assigned to bombs preparing for the invasion. >> the fact we were offloading bombs and look back and say, that's scary enough yet we ti didn't, a lot of hard work. >> reporter: pardon work was just one of his worries when he looked up and saw the ship was

on fire and massive explosion. >> when the chunks were coming down, i didn't realize they were parts of people, too. >> reporter: there were hundreds of ships and six ships exploded killing at least 163 sailors and marines and injuring nearly 400 more. >> it never really occurred to me i could have got killed. >> reporter: ironically just weeks after he survived the incident, something similar happened near his home in pittsburgh when two ships blew up at the naval station. the navy kept the west lock incident classified until 1962 and rod didn't know the death toll until a few years ago but lived the intervening years to the fullest. married 71 years but sees them through the prism of a teenager and maybe that's why the memories don't keep him up at night. in concord, abc7 news. >> it was a shock this morning,

the coroner in detroit officially ruled rock singer chris cornell's death as a suicide, his body found in a hotel room last night in detroit. cornell and the band burst toent the rock scene in the early '90s part of the rock phenomenal and temple of the dog and released several solo albums. he was 52. rogers ailes, the former head of fox news died today after falling and hitting his head on a stone. the medical examiner said it caused bleeding to his brain. he was a media advisor to several presidents and founded fox news in 1996.
