forgiven for not noticing given the fact that we've had one of the fact that we've had one of the coldest julys anyone can remember. i went swimming the other day, and the low temperature saw me do an uncanny impersonation of a greek statue . clearly, there are parts of the world seeing very high temperatures at the moment. billions of crops have perished. forest fires run amok and daily life as a result of climactic conditions are a nightmare for millions. but forgive me for raising an eyebrow at the media hysteria around what is proving to simply be a very hot summer in a few places. but the usual suspects, the climate grifters can't resist rolling out those ludicrous red maps which are making me see red because notwithstanding my concerns about the state of the planet and rising temperatures , this and rising temperatures, this whole thing feels overcooked. no pun intended. it feels patronising , it feels patronising, it feels manipulative, and it feels like an agenda . it feels like covid
3:08 am
an agenda. it feels like covid the sequel and having suffered three years of hysteria about a nasty virus, but one nonfatal for most forgive me for pushing back on the messaging around this new crisis, which has worrying echoes of the pandemic . just like covid, you're not allowed to debate the science around global warming and you're not allowed to debate the policies by which it will be tackled just like covid. if you question anything you're a bad person. just shut up and enjoy your 15 minute city. your heat pump boiler that doesn't work. your electric bicycle and your plant based dinner just like plant based dinnerjust like covid. it's huge. multi—billion dollar corporations who apparently miraculously have the answer to just like covid, only answer to just like covid, only an authoritarian government can protect you from certain death. just like covid. the government
3:09 am
sponsored nudge units and behavioural scientists are terrifying us all over again, this time with the idea that the planet will have blown up by next tuesday , just like covid next tuesday, just like covid established media are happy to fan the flames and ram the doomsday narrative down your throat , even if the facts get in throat, even if the facts get in the way of a good story . we take the way of a good story. we take a look at this from sky news, reporting on a car that had exploded in los angeles as california is, and i quote , hit california is, and i quote, hit by a blister heat wave. they go on to add, it's not clear if the accident was heat related . it accident was heat related. it doesn't matter. does it? they've planted the seed roast in temperatures. that is the clear hint. well, i'm no meteorologist, folks, but this tweet went out on tuesday , so tweet went out on tuesday, so i decided to screenshot the weather for that day in los angeles via the excellent met office app. here's what i found
3:10 am
. the top temperature in los angeles , remember? stifling angeles, remember? stifling heatwave , 29 degrees. not heatwave, 29 degrees. not exactly the sahara desert, is it 7 exactly the sahara desert, is it ? then i thought maybe it's southern california where temperatures have really spiked. so i headed down to santa barbara , where it was barbara, where it was a scorching , blistering barbara, where it was a scorching, blistering . barbara, where it was a scorching , blistering . oh, 29 scorching, blistering. oh, 29 degrees. that's positively fresh for july. i'd pack an extra forjuly. i'd pack an extra layer if i were you . now, i'm no layer if i were you. now, i'm no climate change denier. i am concerned about rising temperatures and pollution, which is why i detested those disgusting , worthless face rags disgusting, worthless face rags that we were forced to wear dunng that we were forced to wear during covid and i think the world should act to clean up the environment and get those emissions down on this show , emissions down on this show, i've unveiled my own bold idea smart net zero or smart zero for short, in which we take action. but with with the will of the people . evidence based science .
3:11 am
people. evidence based science. a full cost benefit analysis this and the economy at the heart of any measures in other words, learning from the mistakes of the pandemic. but climate hysteria proves we have learned nothing. perhaps that's intentional. who knows ? with the intentional. who knows? with the apocalyptic headlines, with the fear mongering and with the end of the world is nigh narrative, the so—called climate emergency promises to be 100 times worse than the covid overreaction . than the covid overreaction. expect a land grab of our rights and freedoms. expect a land grab of our rights and freedoms . expect economic and freedoms. expect economic damage all for the greater good. of course , expect the crushing of course, expect the crushing of free speech and open scientific debate and expect the state and large corporations to dictate how you live your life for the foreseeable future . for for the foreseeable future. for i'm worried about climate change. absolutely. millions are already suffering and many more will. and we must act globally to preserve planet earth. but
3:12 am
with their ridiculous red weather maps and their manipulative climate hysteria, most of the dangerous hot air at the moment is coming from your tv set . so where's that off tv set. so where's that off switch . switch. brilliant stuff. congratulations to my team for those spectacular special effects. doctor who eat your heart out. listen, what do your heart out. listen, what do you think the majority of mainstream science list governments all over the world strongly argue that temperatures are rising. it is a climate emergency . see, millions of emergency. see, millions of people are going to be affected. we have to act now. they would argue this is not hysteria. this is reality. what do you think, margaret gbnews.com i'll get to your email shortly. but first, my brilliant pundits tonight , a my brilliant pundits tonight, a broadcaster stephanie takyi
3:13 am
author and journalist peter lloyd and x red top newspaper editor neil wallace. well, neil, welcome to mark dolan tonight your first time on the couch. first of many, i hope i'm honoured. now listen, are you a quaking in your boots about the impending destruction of planet earth ? earth? >> i am a bit, but i sort of think should we be talking about china or india or brazil? well, why are we obsessing about little old england? why are these idiots running around throwing orange petals in the cromwell road or stuff like that ? if they really want to achieve something, it's very seriously something, it's very seriously something they can do. they get on a plane and they go to tiananmen square start tiananmen square and start throwing petals at the people there who are building literally a power station a day . go go to a power station a day. go go to brazil , go down the orinoco and brazil, go down the orinoco and try to stop all those guys who are burning down the amazon rainforest to clear so they can build so they can plant quick
3:14 am
wheat , huge returns. let's see wheat, huge returns. let's see how they get on there, because frankly , this is one of the most frankly, this is one of the most climate friendly countries in the world. right. we are doing really well and it is ludicrous to suggest that it's all down to us. it is simply daft. >> okay. well, peter lloyd , we >> okay. well, peter lloyd, we can't change china. we can't change brazil, india or even the united states. we can change ourselves and we can make a contribution . should we be contribution. should we be showing that global leadership? >> i think we already are . i >> i think we already are. i think, as neil just said, we're already showing the way forward and better . already showing the way forward and better. and i and we're doing better. and i think that's a good thing. i agree yeah, we agree with you that, yeah, we should have kind social should have some kind of social conscience how we look conscience about how we look after the world and pollutants . after the world and pollutants. et cetera. but et cetera. et cetera. but breaking news long hot summers are nothing new. i mean, we've been having this since the beginning of time. i did make some notes here back in 1540. there was an extreme drought and heat wave that lasted for 11
3:15 am
months. right after that , in months. right after that, in 1743, there was the hottest summer in europe. and that held that record until 2003, which proves that clearly there is not a consistent rise in global temperatures . everybody needs to temperatures. everybody needs to chill out and what i'm worried about chill out. >> yeah, good luck with that, by the way, a typical britain that we don't get involved in the heat wave. i've never known a colder july. heat wave. i've never known a colderjuly. stephanie. colder july. stephanie. >> was colderjuly. stephanie. >> was angry. ajuly >> i was so angry. i'm a july baby. mark so i leave london every july because i know it's going rain and i go the going to rain and i go chase the sun elsewhere . yeah, but i am sun elsewhere. yeah, but i am losing respect for the science. mark really ? yeah, because we've mark really? yeah, because we've had three years of charts, graphs and stifling of how we can move. all people want to do when it gets to july is go on houday when it gets to july is go on holiday and go in peace . and now holiday and go in peace. and now we're having these red maps which are saying you can't go here, you can't go there. it seems there's more it . seems like there's more to it. well, seems like there's more to it. well. seems like there's more to it. well mean, i wouldn't accuse sky >> i mean, i wouldn't accuse sky of are other of this, but there are other outlets borderline lied outlets who have borderline lied about the weather, if not exaggerated, with these red maps. then you look the
3:16 am
maps. and then you look at the detail it's from it. so detail and it's far from it. so you do worry that we're being manipulated it's got manipulated for me, it's got echoes pandemic and the echoes of the pandemic and the hysteria covid. hysteria around covid. >> it's like, take your sun protection cream , but don't stop protection cream, but don't stop yourself from getting on a flight and enjoying summer flight and enjoying your summer holiday. there you go. >> reaction my >> your reaction to my big opinion ? let me your opinion? let me know your thoughts. at gbnews.com. thoughts. mark at gbnews.com. coming in the big story coming up next in the big story tonight, i'll be meeting the author a new book about author of a brand new book about the most influential man in news broadcasting x fox news host tucker carlson, who is he? why is he so powerful and why has he been cancelled ? find out

and i was held through the water fast , faster than i'd ever swam fast, faster than i'd ever swam before . and often we ask the before. and often we ask the questions, are the media overcooking the climate emergency ? emergency? >> let me know. mark at gbnews.com. that was the topic of my big opinion monologue. well, the emails are coming in thick and fast . richie says. hi, thick and fast. richie says. hi, mark, your absolutely right. the weather maps used to be yellow
3:20 am
for hot or maybe orange for a heat wave, but now they're either dark brown or black. meanwhile here in hampshire, it's been a chilly 16 c. all day, windy and rainy. it's been a chilly 16 c. all day, windy and rainy . we day, windy and rainy. we desperately need a bit of global warming here. how about this from from harry, who's emailed. he says, hi, mark. we've got the fire on every night and it's late july. it's outrageous. diane says , oh, goodness. she diane says, oh, goodness. she sent me a picture of what i would look like if i was a greek statue. and i'll be honest, it's very flattering. climate change class says mark, looks like your red shirt and red tie. were climate changed by a red chinese thong in the washing machine? brilliantly put. thank you for that class. keep those emails coming. mark at gbnews.com. look, it's a fascinating story. we're going to get to you next. tucker carlson is the best known and arguably most influential news commentator in the world and a stalwart of the fox news evening schedule in america . he evening schedule in america. he spoke out on the woke takeover
3:21 am
of society a trans ideology. the race for net zero, a crisis of american democracy and the war in ukraine. he's a guy with incredible gravitas and skill. plus he's a lot of fun as well. take a look. >> akin to trump is one of the great joys, one of the great animal joys to pretend for a sec that our country had a news media that was interested in bringing you the news. what were these sheep doing you these sheep doing when you apprehended you apprehended them? they call you the leprechauns apprehended them? they call you the not leprechauns apprehended them? they call you the not just leprechauns apprehended them? they call you the not just on leprechauns apprehended them? they call you the not just on cereal1auns apprehended them? they call you the not just on cereal boxes. exist not just on cereal boxes. m&ms will not be satisfied until every last cartoon character is deeply unappealing and totally androgynous . maybe the orange androgynous. maybe the orange m&m is a secret sexist himself. your mask is making me uncomfortable. i'm not a putin defender. despite what you may have heard , we whilst i do too have heard, we whilst i do too every night, i will say that this guy is the king of the political monologue . political monologue. >> those on the left consider
3:22 am
him a dangerous grifter. so ing lies, division and hate. but his fans on the right can't get enough of a broadcaster who they consider speaks truth to power, stands up for traditional american values , and offers american values, and offers a critical and authentic commentary on this ever changing world. but notwithstanding his massive evening audience, the fox news network sensationally fired him in april of this year. why did they do that? what's next for him and what does his story tell us about the future of political discourse not just in america, but the uk and beyond? well, all of these questions are explored in a fascinating new biography simply called tucker. it's one of the most eagerly anticipated books of the year. it's out on august the 1st. i should say, and it's author, journalist chadwick moore joins me now. chadwick welcome to mark dolan tonight. for those of my viewers and listeners who are not up to speed on tucker carlson, why is he such an influential figure in america and around the world?
3:23 am
what does he do that other broadcasters don't? >> well, i mean , he's a rare >> well, i mean, he's a rare talent. he's a once in a generation talent in the vein of rush limbaugh is really kind of the only person who compares you know, he's a conservative powerhouse . he was the most powerhouse. he was the most watched cable news host in history at a time when i think he was sort of artificially propping up the relevance of and legitimacy of a lot of cable news shows and networks as you know. and he is, you know, he kind of stumbled into television. he came into this he's a very literary guy. television. he came into this he's a very literary guy . and he's a very literary guy. and he's a very literary guy. and he's someone who think just he's someone who i think just deeply lot of deep deeply he has a lot of deep passions and concerns about this country . you know, he covered country. you know, he covered things on show. i saw in things on his show. i saw in that in that great clips, you just float, just showed he had, you know, bunch of like animal you know, a bunch of like animal segments that. segments and things like that. he's nature and he's a big lover of nature and animals he wouldn't cover animals and he wouldn't cover something unless he deeply believed wouldn't believed in it. he wouldn't look to of the new to the front page of the new york to see news york times to see what the news of the was, which basically of the day was, which basically everyone in this everyone in cable in this country decided country does. but he decided what was. decided
3:24 am
what the news was. he decided what the news was. he decided what he felt was important, what people should and people should hear about. and he had his had a connection with his audience no one else audience that really no one else on ever had and on television has ever had and has been able imitate has has been able to imitate since left. know, people since he left. you know, people really a deep connection to really felt a deep connection to this was this man and that he was speaking for millions people speaking for millions of people who voice in who don't have a voice in mainstream and in the mainstream media and in the official discourse of this country. >> indeed. and you mentioned voice. most voice. he is the most predominant anti—woke voice in america, isn't he ? america, isn't he? >> yeah, absolutely . he and he >> yeah, absolutely. he and he delivers that not with not just with facts and data and what have you, but with humour. i mean, he's a hilarious man, as i spent a lot of time over the last year with him personally and was a regular guest on his last year with him personally and vbeforeegular guest on his last year with him personally and vbefore itjlar guest on his last year with him personally and vbefore it got guest on his last year with him personally and vbefore it got pulled»n his last year with him personally and vbefore it got pulled off is show before it got pulled off the air. and he's he's absolutely wickedly funny, as you and he you can imagine. and he humiliates the left and he mocks him in a way that really drives him in a way that really drives him insane. that said, him insane. that being said, the left kind of needed tucker carlson. he didn't get cancelled because left came because from the left it came from and, know, from the right. and, you know, the left really hated him. but the left really hated him. but the the republican the right, the republican establishment absolutely feared him they the who
3:25 am
him. they were the ones who really him to be quiet. him. they were the ones who real|they him to be quiet. him. they were the ones who real|they think|im to be quiet. him. they were the ones who real|they think they) be quiet. him. they were the ones who real|they think they succeeded. and they think they succeeded. of course they didn't. but this is where we are today. >> that some to >> well, that goes some way to answering my next question. >> why was fired by fox news? >> why was he fired by fox news? is it because fox news themselves have gone woke ? well themselves have gone woke? well that's the $64 million question, or i should say 3.5 million viewer question . viewer question. >> fox news has still not given him official reason . they have him official reason. they have not told anyone and technically he's still an employee of fox. he's still getting paid. he's still under contract. they're paying still under contract. they're paying him to be silent until his contract runs out, which is just the next presidential just after the next presidential election. so it seems almost inarguable that this was political. and you can look to the fact that they're threatening him because he's threatening him now because he's talking they're talking on twitter. they're trying to send him cease and desist. also, one fell desist. they also, in one fell swoop, laid off his entire team. this was about 25 people. that's not common for cable news. these people are hired to work for a network, for not a show. but they completely purged the
3:26 am
highest performing producers in all of cable . so someone, all of cable. so someone, whether it's on the board of fox, whether it's the murdochs themselves , whether it's, you themselves, whether it's, you know, any these massive know, any of these massive corporations have controlling interests in news corp wanted him be silent. interests in news corp wanted him be silent . they wanted him to be silent. they wanted him to be silent. they wanted him the and that's what him off the air. and that's what they've attempted to do. but why has been cancelled by the has he been cancelled by the right given that he is robustly conservative? because he speaks against the party? i mean , he against the party? i mean, he challenged the republican party more than anyone else in mainstream media. you can look at any of the handful of issues he about where he bucked he talked about where he bucked the narrative, whether it's ukraine, whether it's january 6th, whether it's esg. that's another big one that a lot of people don't talk about. but he was staunch opponent esg. was a staunch opponent of esg. a lot these corporations are was a staunch opponent of esg. a lot fansese corporations are was a staunch opponent of esg. a lot fans ofe corporations are was a staunch opponent of esg. a lot fans of esg)orations are was a staunch opponent of esg. a lot fans of esg thations are was a staunch opponent of esg. a lot fans of esg that have|re big fans of esg that have investing in in news corp investing stakes in in news corp and they really didn't like him being so influential. you know, on cable. he had the ear of our leaders and you know that. in that being said, he interjected this civil libertarian
3:27 am
commentary into the mainstream discourse. and, you know, he's always been a guy, you know , always been a guy, you know, i've now studied his entire career and well before, you know, his childhood and everything. and he's always been a that really a guy that that really questioned authority and they didn't that many cast. didn't like that many cast. >> tucker carlson as a fringe lunatic . chadwick a racist, lunatic. chadwick a racist, a conspiracy theorist and far right. is there any truth in that ? that? >> no, it's quite funny. and, you know, these people who would take five second clips of his show and try to get advertiser boycotts and whatever they couldn't feature the entire couldn't do, feature the entire 20 minute well crafted, well thought out monologue ? i mean, thought out monologue? i mean, tucker the furthest tucker carlson is the furthest thing the world from a thing in the world from a racist. as he said to me, if i was a racist, just come was a racist, i would just come out say it. why i try out and say it. why would i try to it? you know? he is to hide it? you know? and he is you he's a very warm you know, he's he's a very warm guy a really funny guy and guy and a really funny guy and genuine he's also a genuine guy. and he's also a very deep he's you very deep guy. he's got, you know, spiritual well know, a sort of spiritual well to that a lot people to him that a lot of people don't realise. and he's don't realise. and he and he's very humble and he's got, you
3:28 am
know, wonderful people around him his family him and his family. his family is most important is obviously the most important thing in his world. and even liberals in liberals who've met him in real life to concede that they life have to concede that they actually like a guy. and actually like him as a guy. and i think it speaks volumes that his entire team from fox, the ones fired, left to ones who weren't fired, left to go join him, you know, literally in woods maine, not in the woods of maine, not knowing next step was. knowing what the next step was. you really has you know, nobody really has anything about him as anything bad to say about him as anything bad to say about him as a a person a man and a as a person and as a man and his monologues. >> interviews are >> and now full interviews are carried on twitter. chadwick and a breaking all records. but what is the long term plan, do you think? will he start his own tv network that is what i'm told is in the cards. >> if it's not television, maybe it's a media company based online. they're currently reports have it fundraising for this . they're getting investors this. they're getting investors to it, but they're going to live on for time being . on twitter for the time being. some be contractual. some of that may be contractual. i think fox, i don't think that fox, i haven't seen contract, but haven't seen his contract, but i think that fox didn't have the foresight include twitter foresight to include twitter in their it works their non—compete. so it works out but they're out that way. but they're currently any money out that way. but they're curre elon any money out that way. but they're curre elon musk. any money out that way. but they're curre elon musk. but any money out that way. but they're curre elon musk. but any are 1ey from elon musk. but they are planning launch a media

tonight, reporter and broadcaster stephanie techy, author and journalist peter lloyd and former national newspaper editor neil wallis . newspaper editor neil wallis. now at his concert last night, sir tom jones went on stage stating , you can't stop us stating, you can't stop us singing delilah following a decision in february to stop choirs singing the song at the beginning of rugby matches the 1968 hit has raised controversy as it references a woman's murder. the welsh rugby union condemns domestic violence of any kind and has it has been reported that guests at choirs have been more recently requested not to feature the song. so is the tom jones singer. is he right to keep singing delilah, even though woke censors say it glorifies domestic violence . what do we domestic violence. what do we think about this? should delilah be cancelled? no mark, you know, i do not condone violence against women in any shape or form. >> at the beginning of this month, i went to the north sea jazz festival where sirjohn tom jazz festival where sir john tom
3:38 am
jones performing . charming jones was performing. charming delilah. the whole crowd, delilah. me and the whole crowd, we singing delilah to our we were singing delilah to our heart's delight . and the reason heart's delight. and the reason why we did is because it's a good song. music is about storytelling and if we give into this cancellation where we start cancelling songs , it's going to cancelling songs, it's going to open. this can of worms. we're going to start cancelling song after song after song. let art be. art imitates life sometimes , and i think in this case it's a good song. just let it be a good song. it's not the thoughts of sir tom jones. actually, that's what he thinks in real life. >> no, that's right. i mean, tom jones is not having any of it, is he? he's going to keep singing that song till his final day. >> yeah. and good for him. i totally support his decision to do that. look art does not need to politically correct. most to be politically correct. most of the best art is subversive. it's politically incorrect. it pushes boundaries. but also art just tells . like you said, it just tells. like you said, it tells human stories. just tells. like you said, it tells human stories . and so this tells human stories. and so this is a piece of art. i mean, the
3:39 am
song delilah is actually loosely based on the opera. carmen and the irony, of course, is that all these people who are outraged by the song aren't remotely outraged by operas or movies or, you know, songs like oppenheimer , and none of them oppenheimer, and none of them are bothered by that. it's all about how they can signal their virtue and how they can look like they are concerned about domestic violence. if these people were really concerned about domestic violence, then where were they when jay—z was being beaten up by solange knowles? none of them said anything about that, right . anything about that, right. right. why do why do we only ever hear a one sided view about this narrative ? this narrative? >> and as i understand it, the lyrics of the song don't exactly glorify domestic violence. they don't glorify murder. i think it's a narrative, right? because it's a narrative, right? because it's a narrative, right? because it's a jealous lover in a rage shoots his partner. i mean , this shoots his partner. i mean, this is this is a tragedy , isn't it? is this is a tragedy, isn't it? and that's the point. like, i don't know, king lear or romeo and juliet from shakespeare to, you know, from all the great
3:40 am
literary classics, there have been stories of tragedy. >> and, you know, the inhumanity and detectability of man. this is no different now. >> yeah, that bugs me about these things. isis i think why now? look how long this song has been around. why now? why do you want to bone with it now? want to pick a bone with it now? it's like , this is my problem it's like, this is my problem with cancel culture is we've had these arts that have been here for decades and someone just suddenly gets their knickers in a twist and thinks, let's just cancel let's just cancel that song or let's just block altogether. cancel that song or let's just block ai:ogether. cancel that song or let's just block ai guesser. cancel that song or let's just block ai guess the woman in >> well, i guess the woman in the is a victim of domestic the song is a victim of domestic violence worst so violence of the worst kind. so do not it at all do you not find it at all triggering when you hear those words, in stadium? >> i think that's not actually helping. that's helping helping. that's not helping real women domestic women who are facing domestic violence . i rather them violence. i would rather them campaign to help charities for women who are facing domestic violence . cancelling a song is violence. cancelling a song is not going to stop a woman getting up from getting beaten up from her husband at home. >> that's how works. >> but that's how wokery works. it's it's it's incredibly trivial and it's anti art. neil for those that aren't familiar with the song, i understand give understand you're going to give us rendition, that right?
3:41 am
us a rendition, is that right? >> i was about it >> well, i was thinking about it and honest, i did sing and to be honest, i did sing this song a few weeks at saint david's day, few weeks ago. i david's day, a few weeks ago. i was at a dinner at there was a welsh male voice choir who stood up and said, well, this we're not allowed to sing this except we're going to god's sake and promptly sang their head off. and everyone in the room got up and sang it as well. and it was and sang it as well. and it was a really good bit of fun. but i'll tell you this, what strikes me about it, i've been singing this song since tom jones first sang it all those years ago because i'm old and most people don't actually know the lyrics. you know, you sing it. it's one of those, as you pointed out , of those, as you pointed out, it's one of those pieces of art you just sort of you sing, you know, and then somebody says , know, and then somebody says, stop. if you actually read the literature, nobody stops and reads the lyrics . reads the lyrics. >> people only know the song. what happens? >> yeah, that's not, you know, it's a piece of joy and fun and he's quite right. and the idea of trying to stop the cardiff
3:42 am
arms park from singing delilah, which pretty much a national which is pretty much a national anthem, luck with that. anthem, good luck with that. >> definitely. >> yeah, definitely. >> yeah, definitely. >> people always win >> people power will always win through . now, there have been through. now, there have been calls cull of seagulls in calls for a cull of seagulls in the uk due to their simply being too many and they are becoming a tremendous hazard, we're told, to the general public from the council providing gull proof bin liners to southern water, blaming gulls roost under a pier for a decline in water quality in portsmouth. seagulls are among many birds who are causing among many birds who are causing a plethora of issues for us brits. so is it time to cull menacing birds like seagulls and pigeons and others? peter um, i say no, but i would support a cull of eco warriors . cull of eco warriors. >> yes. and most mps , yes. and >> yes. and most mps, yes. and uh, pretty much anyone left of centre . centre. >> right. okay. yeah >> right. okay. yeah >> any other offers? >> any other offers? >> i would definitely support a cull of all of those people. >> right. >> right.
3:43 am
>> those are more aggressive pests than seagulls. pests than any seagulls. >> well, mean , you do >> yeah, well, i mean, you do wonder, you? wonder, don't you? >> listen, know, as >> but listen, you know, as a as a journalist of many years, the pubuc a journalist of many years, the public get very cross about public do get very cross about these birds that , you know, these birds that, you know, essentially, you damage their property. yeah wake them up in the middle of the night. these animals are a pest. you're talking to the right person, of course, because i am, course, course, because i am, of course, an ornithology wokeist. >> is that right? it's absolutely true. i love going bird watching . bird watching. >> okay. >> okay. >> column killing . um, reduce >> column killing. um, reduce the numbers. they the thing about birds that are out of control like this is they destroy the habitat for other birds . and so other birds don't birds. and so other birds don't survive. they squeeze them out . survive. they squeeze them out. and one of the things that you do have to say, though, this is part of a if you like, a punishment because gulls breed so fast, because they feed their garbage feeders and they feed on the garbage we leave about. now, that might leapfrog back to your original one part of your
3:44 am
original one part of your original item, but if you ever been near a rubbish tip, it is covered by gulls and they're eating stuff that us humans have left. so that's what the problem. but the bottom line ? problem. but the bottom line? no, surely there must be a way we can get along with these seagulls without culling. they breed like mad. i think they are. >> i'll be honest with you. rats with wings. but let me know if you disagree. mark gbnews.com coming up next, my mark meets guest is the former top detective who has reopened the investigation into jack the ripper . can investigation into jack the ripper. can we investigation into jack the ripper . can we crack the case ripper. can we crack the case tonight ? plus, i've been asking tonight? plus, i've been asking , is tom jones right to keep singing delilah, even though woke censors say it glorifies domestic violence . the results domestic violence. the results of that are .
3:45 am
3:46 am
3:47 am
next now, today, we've been conducting an exclusive mark dolan tonight people's poll and
3:48 am
we've been asking, is tom jones right to keep singing? delilah even though woke censors say it glorifies domestic violence ? glorifies domestic violence? well, 95.5% of you back, tom, and say yes, 4.5% say no. it's time now for this . really time now for this. really excited about this. it's time now for mark meets and the author of a brand new book on one of the great unsolved mysteries of all time. jack the ripper, a serial killer actor of in whitechapel, london in 1888, attacks typically involved women working as prostitutes who lived and worked in the slums of east end london. their throats were cut prior to abdominal mutilations. the removal of internal organs from at least three of the victims led to speculate that the killer had some anatomical or surgical knowledge as well. a brand new book seeks to cast light on this eternal investigation. stephen
3:49 am
keoghis eternal investigation. stephen keogh is a former scotland yard detective who has put his sleuth skills to the test in murder investigation team jack the ripper , a 21st century ripper, a 21st century investigation . john well here it investigation. john well here it is . i've got investigation. john well here it is. i've got my investigation. john well here it is . i've got my copy. investigation. john well here it is. i've got my copy. i'll just wait . wave that at the camera. wait. wave that at the camera. look at that . and i can't wait. look at that. and i can't wait. that's my summer reading sorted out. stephen welcome to mark dolan tonight. how was this guy? and i think we've got to assume it guy able to get away it was a guy able to get away with crimes. with these terrible crimes. yeah, i mean, first off, he wouldn't get away with them today. >> i'll say. why well, so. so what i've done is i've looked at the police investigation from 1888. we've with a sort of a modern day detective eye on it. i'm not coming in to be critical, but i'm just looking at the investigation they did and how that would compare with which is what you would do if it was a real case. well, that's i've approached i've i've approached it so i've looked the evidence. when looked at the evidence. so when you jack the ripper, you look at jack the ripper, there's rubbish there's so much rubbish and conjecture and theories conjecture here and theories all around try to do around it. but what i try to do is just all and look is just clear all that and look
3:50 am
at the evidence. and we at what is the evidence. and we get from at the time all get that from at the time all the witnesses gave evidence at the witnesses gave evidence at the inquest that were held a couple of days after the murders, and there were some police papers still around. not many, are some. so many, but there are some. so when look at that and you when you look at that and you look the evidence is, in look at what the evidence is, in actual there's not lot. actual fact, there's not a lot. so what i was trying to do is so my book is twofold, really. it's what then and how would what went on then and how would that differ to today? and then answer questions which that differ to today? and then answ basicallyjuestions which that differ to today? and then answ basically which ns which that differ to today? and then answ basically which crimesh that differ to today? and then answ basically which crimes did were basically which crimes did he what was motivating he commit? what was motivating him? and can i add anything to who he may be? so that's what i was trying to address in the book. >> yes. i mean, what's your reaction to a bombshell story this in which someone this week in which someone claims they know who it was, that they've essentially that they've they've essentially gone with nomination gone live with their nomination of who who the perpetrator would have okay have been. okay >> so i will say the same answer for every suspect theory. so essentially , the road they're essentially, the road they're travelling on, what they're doing is they're coming up with a theory and then they're looking for evidence to back that up. and what they'll do is
3:51 am
they'll stuff that they'll ignore stuff that doesn't their theory and doesn't suit their theory and they'll adapt and they'll choose to take an angle on certain information that's available. is that called confirmation bias? you took the words right out of my mouth there. right. and if we relate that to today, modern time, think rachel time, if you think of rachel nicole colin stagg, that's nicole and colin stagg, that's exactly what the police did. they had theory colin stagg they had a theory colin stagg was the murderer . so they went was the murderer. so they went looking information looking for information to confirm that. wasn't. he confirm that. and it wasn't. he was was an innocent person. was he was an innocent person. and thankfully, he he got his case thrown out of court. and that's what they do. so they are essentially what they're doing when they write when they when they write a book, they're presenting the case the prosecution with case for the prosecution with out the case for the defence. and imagine if we were doing that in real life. how many people would get convicted? many many people. so for me, many innocent people. so for me, if i was to ever look at a suspect and think, yes , it's suspect and think, yes, it's him, it would need not only that side, the prosecution on the defence side put across and
3:52 am
after all that weighed it up like a jury would in real life. am i sure ? am i even nearly sure am i sure? am i even nearly sure that's the point i would want to reach. and unfortunately, that's what these books don't they what these books don't do. they just side of the just present one side of the case. indeed >> so, this is a cold, >> so, look, this is a cold, empirical look at all of the evidence available to it's evidence available to you. it's not and it's not not conjecture. and it's not fiction, which i suspect a lot of those books are . however, can of those books are. however, can we do a little speculate based upon the evidence, the scant evidence and the witness testimonies that you've got, is it likely to have been just one person? and also , how many person? and also, how many victims potentially? because i know officially it's five. >> yeah . so? so the whitechapel >> yeah. so? so the whitechapel file was 11 murders and they were 11 murders of women believed to be prostitute . it's believed to be prostitute. it's killed in it's actually more than 1888. there's a few years and each was investigated as if it might be jack the ripper. now, traditional people talk about five. it's known as the canonical five. so what i've doneis canonical five. so what i've done is i've looked at the crimes to try and see if i can
3:53 am
bnng crimes to try and see if i can bring a modern day thinking process to it. isis can i link the crimes in any way? so what i'd do is i use a method by looking at the characteristics of each crime and trying to see are they linked in that way. similar fact evidence it would be known as in court. and by doing that process, i've come to a different idea of what crimes are committed. i don't believe you committed all five of the canonical five. yeah. and i also believe you committed others. >> listen, i know it's getting rave reviews. it reads like a thriller, but it's based on serious sleuthing . just a few serious sleuthing. just a few seconds to answer this one. why are we so fascinated by jack the ripper? why haven't we moved on from this story? it's a couple of things. >> it wasn't the court >> firstly, it wasn't the court . he's got the name jack . second, he's got the name jack the and branding, the ripper and good branding, and was the first, i think. and he was the first, i think. and it and it just took off from there. rippers have there. and how many rippers have we they and they we had since. and they and they all him. all stemmed from him. >> was it who done it. well >> who was it who done it. well there's only one way to find out. grab yourself a copy of

shallow, duplicitous, dupuchous shallow, duplicitous, duplicitous tv actress who wasn't even the best thing in suits . i think meeting this suits. i think meeting this trouble, making upstart was the worst thing that ever happened to harry. always keen to talk about his mental health. it's never seemed worse than since he tied the knot to she who must be obeyed. i think she treats him at best like an accessory and at worst like a child. remember that silly video she did in her house where harry humiliated? was looking through the window. bizarrely juggling some balls. what about the catastrophic moment when she mocked having to curtsy to the late, great queen elizabeth? a profound insult to harry's beloved grandmother, the look of horror on his face as she took the piss of our queen was palpable . that felt like was palpable. that felt like a moment in their marriage, perhaps the moment when he realised he'd made a terrible mistake . penny for your mistake. penny for your thoughts. what about when she refused to embrace him ? when
4:07 am
refused to embrace him? when a kiss cam camera pointed at the couple during a baseball match? look, he's leaning in for a kiss , and he's got to make a joke of it. what an insult. , and he's got to make a joke of it. what an insult . they've it. what an insult. they've started to go their own separate ways professionally, which is no bad thing. after all, they're the most unpopular double act since hale and pace. only kidding . those lads were kidding. those lads were brilliant. unlike these two. and as a pair, they are no longer bankable stars. having lost a spotify deal worth $20 million comedians and late night talk show hosts openly mocked the couple where they previously gave them revered attention in a meeting with media executives , meeting with media executives, it transpires that harry's ideas for future projects were apparently so bad they made alan partridge look like a formats genius . even the million dollar genius. even the million dollar netflix deal is now hanging by a thread , and there are some thread, and there are some concerns that they could actually run out of money. there's an old saying, isn't there, that when money goes out there, that when money goes out the window, love flies out the
4:08 am
door? well, i think megan may have already bolted as harry plans a lonely trip to africa , plans a lonely trip to africa, which we're told is his second home. i'm not sure this misery guts will even be happy there. he's probably going to complain that africa's not diverse enough or something . king that africa's not diverse enough or something. king harry is apparently going to africa to find himself no less. well, i'm not sure he'll like what he finds . a tragic, forlorn figure finds. a tragic, forlorn figure who sold his family and his country down the river for a few million dollars. the divorce rumours have been strongly denied by their official spokesman, but of course, that's a bit like getting an accurate update on the ukraine war from the kremlin . update on the ukraine war from the kremlin. i update on the ukraine war from the kremlin . i hope their the kremlin. i hope their marriage doesn't end, but you know they're in trouble. it's my view that they've got lovely kids, two beautiful kids, and i never wish to see any couples split. but if they were to split, i've got no doubt after a bit of reconciliation , that bit of reconciliation, that harry would be welcomed back to this country with open arms .
4:09 am
this country with open arms. there's always hope for the prodigal prince, whether his family have him back is another story altogether. yes, harry is a grown man and he's responsible for his own actions. and i think the press can be unduly harsh on meghan markle. after all, it takes two to tango , but in my takes two to tango, but in my view, he hasn't been right since the day he met her. sadly, this right royal soap opera looks like it may be drawing to a close and it's obvious to most who's been writing the script all along . is the royal marriage all along. is the royal marriage on the rocks market? gbnews.com. if they were to split, should britain? welcome back the prodigal prince reacting to my take at ten, we have broadcaster and writer stephanie takyi , and writer stephanie takyi, author and journalist peter lloyd and former national newspaper editor neil wallis . newspaper editor neil wallis. stephanie, do you think there's trouble in paradise? >> i don't think there is trouble in paradise. i just think meghan and harry are
4:10 am
changing tact now. they've used all their resources. they've put the story out about the royal family see, they've lost deals. they now need to go back to the drawing board and think what's next and what's next is that they're both going to do individual projects, which i think is going to work well. meghan about meghan. i'm not meghan is about meghan. i'm not going at all. i going to deny that at all. and i think thinking think she's now thinking what's best her career, what best for her career, what advertisements can she get, what acting jobs can she get? so it's less about we and more about how do we make each other stand out as individuals rather than a unit . unit. >> neil wallis is a former national newspaper editor of a red top. you know about showbiz marriage is i think this is the biggest mistake that harry's ever made . ever made. >> i think that's absolutely right . and i hope he's not right. and i hope he's not having to come to realise that. but it's certainly looking as though the gloss has gone off the wedding. they seem to be thrashing around now, don't they, for something to do and i
4:11 am
you know, meghan , she's a you know, meghan, she's a professional isn't she. she's the she's lady gladhanding isn't she. she's the duchess of dosh. the princess of cashing. she knows how to make money and she's going to well continue doing it . she's going to well continue doing it. harry, though much more vulnerable . all do i think more vulnerable. all do i think she would give him up because don't forget, he's a big trophy. a big door opener for her. i doubt it. >> interesting stuff . i mean, >> interesting stuff. i mean, peter, many would argue that this is a crisis of harry's making. he is a grown man. it's harry that left this country. it's harry that dumped on his own family , not meghan markle. own family, not meghan markle. perhaps i and the wider press are being too harsh on this young woman . young woman. >> no, i don't think so. >> no, i don't think so. >> i mean, i obviously he was a complicit in all of that and he betrayed his own family and the british people. but i think she was really pulling the
4:12 am
marionette strings. and if you look at this relationship within the framework of what is now defined, very commonly as coercive control , and i defined, very commonly as coercive control, and i think it ticks a lot of boxes. so yes, he obviously betrayed his family and he betrayed the public. but i think he was doing it under manipulation and duress. and it really whenever i see this kind of situation play out in the media with harry and meghan, it feels like i'm watching you. you know, when you have one of those moments in where have moments in life where you have your who you go your friend who maybe you go down the pub with and he gets a girlfriend terrible, girlfriend and she's terrible, and starts going out and then he starts going out with her, then he proposes to her. they married and her. then they get married and you're don't do you're thinking, mate, don't do it. it. and he it it. don't do it. and he does it anyway. it's kind of like that. and in few years and you know that in a few years they're to get divorced they're going to get divorced and going to come with and he's going to come back with his tail between legs. his tail between his legs. the question the british question is, will the british pubuc question is, will the british public to forgive him? they public want to forgive him? they might, he's some serious public want to forgive him? they might, building some serious public want to forgive him? they might, building do. me serious bridge building to do. >> you think the royal >> do you think the royal marriage will survive? like i've said, never want to said, i never want to see a marriage end, but i think they're under pressure. i don't

4:17 am
false, false, says linda. peter says dear mark should harold be welcomed back to the uk? never another peter says. dear mark, marriage split is nothing but utter rubbish. this is cheap media spin and hope, lynn says . media spin and hope, lynn says. hi mark. she actually headlines the email whinge and ginge she's eaten him up and spat him out. now he's damaged goods and she's got the two kids she always wanted. now he's got to go . wanted. now he's got to go. tina, we don't want this imbecile back. sheila who cares? no, he will not be. welcome back to bigger idiots you will never meet, says sheila. it just goes on and on and on. listen, should we be culling nuisance birds this from anne. hi, mark. we have thousands of parakeets in windsor, which are so very noisy. we need them cold. we have both aeroplanes and parakeet noises in the early morning. could scream some times. how about this from mike? seagulls destroyed the environment for other birds.
4:18 am
therefore cull them. humans destroy the environment for all other species . so cull them too. other species. so cull them too. well not a bad shout. look, the emails are brilliant. i do love getting them. keep them coming . getting them. keep them coming. mark at gb news.com . but it is mark at gb news.com. but it is time now for us news with the queen american showbiz royal queen of american showbiz royal and political reporting, kinsey schofield . kinsey, great see schofield. kinsey, great to see you . tell me about king charles you. tell me about king charles celebrating a pay rise . celebrating a pay rise. >> oh, mark, don't say he celebrate rating. no, i think that my biggest fear is that people are imagining the king as like scrooge mcduck swimming in his money. you know, giving himself a raise or giving himself a raise or giving himself a raise or giving himself a promotion. and that's not what's happening at all. the guardian reports that the royal family's grant is expected to increase from . 86 million to 120 increase from. 86 million to 120 5,000,000 in 2025. i know optics when this we're all in a cost of living crisis. it doesn't look great, but it's a complicated strategy tying the monarch's funding to the percentage of
4:19 am
profits of the crown estate. and this formula that we're talking about used to determine the sovereign grant was developed by david cameron in 2011. maybe it isfime david cameron in 2011. maybe it is time to revisit this formula and come up with a new solution. maybe it's none of my business because i'm over here in hollywood . but i do think that hollywood. but i do think that the that the sovereign, the monarchy is highly aware of, of the optics and because of that, the optics and because of that, the treasury stress that a reduction of the percentage of the crown estates profits that the crown estates profits that the king would collect was going to go from 25% to 12% and n 2024 and 2025, the government has committed to use what was cut from the sovereign grant to fund vital public service and the anything that benefits the nafion anything that benefits the nation . so again, they're hyper nation. so again, they're hyper aware of what this looks like. this is not the king giving himself a promotion or a, you know, giving himself a raise and this is maybe just a strange formula that needs to be
4:20 am
revisited based on the current climate. >> i think you're right, kinsey, to drill into the detail of that, like king charles, you are worth every penny. can we talk about donald trump, who faces significant legal challenges, but he's had some good news in terms of voter support . terms of voter support. >> you're absolutely right, because i was trying to determine how to communicate this. i was like, you know , he's this. i was like, you know, he's significant legal challenges is a pretty great way to put it. but a new harvard harris poll suggests that the former president would beat president joe biden right now in a general election. wow and let me tell you right now, this this is a nightmare of a deja vu rematch for americans. but it does see the don dominating biden by 45% with 16% of voters undecided . with 16% of voters undecided. and trump's margin over kamala is an even bigger gap, 47% versus 38. and if . the 2024 versus 38. and if. the 2024 republican president primary were held today, because i know you're wondering this, trump
4:21 am
would actually win 52% over for over ron desantis, who i know you love. you know, i'm a fan of his, too. but trump would beat ron desantis, who's actually stumbling behind 40 points with just 12% of those votes . and just 12% of those votes. and again, the new york post is where i saw this article about the harvard harris poll. and they say 70% of the people that were polled really were not that impressed with either candidate and would love to see some fresh blood in the mix. >> indeed . well, i do like ron >> indeed. well, i do like ron desantis. he led florida brilliantly during covid, but it seems to be trump all the way. can we talk about kevin costner? everyone knows who he is. one of the biggest movie stars in the world, but he's got a few problems, that's not in problems, and that's not in relation or a script relation to a movie or a script or a director. >> yeah, i mean, i don't know how kevin costner how you intro'd kevin costner without including the word honk. i'm little disappointed i'm a little disappointed because the honk , but because he's quite the honk, but the mail is calling the daily mail is calling calling it hollywood's pettiest divorce, and i am here for it.
4:22 am
kevin's wife is soon to be ex—wife, is alleging that he's worth over $400 million. but court papers are saying that him and his wife are fighting over things like dog beds, kitchen utensils . she's things like dog beds, kitchen utensils. she's a things like dog beds, kitchen utensils . she's a wife and utensils. she's a wife and a blue umbrella that, you know, is an outside umbrella. and costner's attorney being so ugly about this, telling christine's attorney, you know, you might not want to bite the hand that feeds you. this is after costner has accused his ex of using some of the money that he gives her for the children for plastic surgery , which she hasn't surgery, which she hasn't denied. and saying that she basically took credit cards from the domestic help from maybe a nanny or a maid and was using them at atms to funnel out a tonne of money in preparation for filing this divorce . so it's for filing this divorce. so it's getting really nasty. a lot of ugly accusations . and this could ugly accusations. and this could be one of hollywood's nastiest break—ups since johnny depp and
4:23 am
amber heard. i'm sorry. i have to go there. >> yes , it is. it's more >> yes, it is. it's more dramatic than any of his movies do we know whether she has signed a prenuptial agreement with the star, with the hunk or will she get half of everything? do we know? >> she absolutely signed a prenuptial agreement with him. and you know, he says that she clearly has read it within the last few months or years , last few months or years, because one of the deals was that she could take if she owned a car , she could keep that car. a car, she could keep that car. the family and the 20 years that they've been together have always like a few always leased cars like a few weeks before she filed for divorce, she bought a car. so these are some of the instances he's trying to the examples he's showing the court to say she was basically stealing from me in preparation to file for divorce. and, you know , between that and and, you know, between that and taking those cards of the employees and pulling out money, he's trying to show the court that he feels like she's coming from a really nasty, nefarious place. and if it was all in in
4:24 am
the effort efforts of supporting the effort efforts of supporting the children, she wouldn't have gone to these great lengths to kind of hoard money and to prepare herself for this. but, yes, i believe the court recently said she was going to get a little over $100,000. she wanted $250,000 a month from from kevin. he wanted to give her $50,000 a month. it's getting nasty , mark. getting nasty, mark. >> it's getting terribly nasty. you and i will never have a prenup because you and me is forever. oh mark, it's like, is it our. >> our two year anniversary coming up next month? you're going to be gone. going to be. >> listen, there are only two people that have permanent people that have a permanent slot kinsey slot on this show, kinsey schofield, schofield and ann widdecombe mean, widdecombe both. well, i mean, i'm torn . it's like choosing i'm torn. it's like choosing between and mccartney, between lennon and mccartney, kinsey a week's kinsey will see you in a week's time. weather . a time. here's the weather. a brighter outlook with boxt solar proud sponsors of weather on . gb news. >> good evening. >> good evening. >> my name is rachel ayers and

there's no way that these companies should be weaponising banking services for political reasons . reasons. >> not at all. this story has been quite shocking, actually, and i'm glad that nigel farage was at the forefront of this and exposing what's been going on, because for me, it feels like it's just got this element of almost like a chinese communist style way of thinking where if you're not thinking the way they want you to think, we're going to shut down your bank accounts and i'm glad that rishi has taken a stand on this. actually, i he was just i was scared that he was just going to be a bit coy about this subject, actually good subject, and it's actually good that government is taking that the government is taking a positive stance on this. that the government is taking a pos neil, stance on this. that the government is taking a pos neil, in nce on this. that the government is taking a pos neil, in all on this. that the government is taking a pos neil, in all of this. that the government is taking a pos neil, in all of your years >> neil, in all of your years reporting from the top newsrooms in the country , have you ever in the country, have you ever witnessed anything like what we're seeing at the moment, this terrible wave of intolerance and this ideological capture of our institutions? is this unprecedented and utterly, utterly me and it's i often say

4:36 am
thatis what we're allowed to think. and that is terrifying. and that is so anathema to this great country . it is wrong, wrong, country. it is wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong and more wrong. it's got to be stopped. yes. >> and peter, a lot of these ideas inculcated within the sort of progressive left are absolutely bonkers in in many ways it makes sense not to think the things we're supposed to think right. >> exactly. i mean, it's interesting that you i mean, totally agree with everything you but you said that you just said, but you said that you just said, but you said that you surprised by this, you weren't surprised by this, that this. that you were surprised by this. i not surprised i am not surprised by this takeover. surprised by takeover. i'm not surprised by cuts and the way the banking industry probably operating. industry is probably operating. i gramsci who said i mean, was it gramsci who said long ago about the long march through the institutions ? i through the institutions? i mean, it's been a very open plan of action for a long time. many decades now. and so many institutions have already fallen. if you look at academia, i mean, that's essentially destroyed. certainly the humanity departments of any university . university. >> you've got to hate brexit. you've got to believe that you can change your biological sex, right? >> so you've got to believe in net zero yesterday, right ?

>> there's just it's just a whole ideology behind it, right? yeah. >> yeah. this is what i'm worried about. now, here's the thing, peter lloyd, you've actually spent a lot of time as actually spent a lot of time as a journalist working on this issue kind of progressive issue of the kind of progressive left and woke takeover of left and the woke takeover of our country . left and the woke takeover of our country. is there any rowing back from this or have have woke . one >> that's a very good question. i think ultimately we the war against woke will be won, right. i think eventually common sense will be regained . and but i will be regained. and but i think it will be similar to what the world would be like if a nuclear bomb had gone off. so things would have been razed to the ground and we would have had our resources depleted and our morale will be completely low. technically, we may have won, but we will be total spent and exhausted and it will be very long and arduous process of rebuilding civilisation if it's even possible . all you know, i even possible. all you know, i really i mean, that sounds like an because now you've got the
4:40 am
tech giants who can enforce this woke messaging, haven't you? i mean, sounds like an mean, that sounds like an overstatement, saying, overstatement, what i'm saying, but . i mean, we're but it's true. i mean, we're talking about it's very, very anti—western . yeah, this is a anti—western. yeah, this is a big thing. >> the thing about it is that it is so insidious. >> the thing about it is that it is so insidious . it's evolved is so insidious. it's evolved because it's easier not to push against it. it is it's evolved and spread because it's easier not to confront it really doesn't matter that much. and it's always so sugarcoated. there's a dreadful organisation called hope not hate that. the irony that that pretends that it's there to attack extremism. what it attacks is anybody who doesn't have the woke mainstream at the core of them. and so they try to, if you like , cancel any try to, if you like, cancel any organisations as heaven help gb news for instance, they will hate gb news because it dares to actually have a conversation
4:41 am
like this . you're not allowed to like this. you're not allowed to have these conversations , but have these conversations, but that just shows that we're doing something right. >> agree and that's >> i completely agree and that's why our audience is growing, because you hear all opinions on this show and on this channel and the emails, this show and on this channel and of the emails, this show and on this channel and of them, the emails, this show and on this channel and of them, halfthe emails, this show and on this channel and of them, half of emails, this show and on this channel and of them, half of themls, lots of them, half of them saying they completely disagree with what had to say. it's with what i've had to say. it's almost listening mrs. almost like listening to mrs. dolan. listen another big story from the mail online and also the front page of the mail as well. gary lineker, duped over vile films lies about boris and covid. listen to this. an arch remainer who once tried to prosecute boris johnson over brexit. it has claimed in a shocking new documentary that the former prime minister lied about nearly dying from covid, the grossly offensive allegation has been made by marcus ball, a failed entrepreneur, in a documentary which claims mr johnson's account of his illness at the beginning of the pandemic was terrible designed to was a terrible lie designed to manipulate the public. trailer manipulate the public. a trailer for film , which has to for the film, which has yet to be released, a number be released, features a number of celebrities, including, you
4:42 am
guessed gary lineker, guessed it, saint gary lineker, the bbc's highest paid presenter who says in the documentary, the pubuc who says in the documentary, the public deserves the truth. the ex—footballer, who was temporarily taken off air earlier this year after comparing government immigration policy to germany last night, distanced himself from the film upon being alerted about its content . so another possible content. so another possible crisis for the bbc, neil. i mean , this looks like an accident waiting to happen, doesn't it? >> it so does . and it's such a >> it so does. and it's such a perfect example of how someone comes up with a spurious idea and they pitch it out there and nobody has the courage to say no. what a load of cobblers. and they find people who are prepared to stand forward and say, yes, well, there must be something in it. isn't it? it's a terrible phrase that there must be something in it. it is so insidious. this so insidious. and this documentary, from what we've read here, is based upon entirely that that premise,

because, of course , the great because, of course, the great thing about a conspiracy theory is you can never disprove a conspiracy theory. yeah. because if you disprove a conspiracy theory , that's part of the theory, that's part of the conspiracy words of wisdom. >> well , many conspiracy words of wisdom. >> well, many more words of wisdom to come. >> more from the papers after this. plus, my pundits will be nominating their headline heroes and back page zeroes. also let me tell you, sadiq khan and keir starmer, a big development between those two. of course we know. don't we, that labour are at war. starmer has blamed khan for losing that london by—election. more on that .

in two. welcome back to the show. mark gbnews.com. now i've got to say that we sometimes raise topics that we sometimes raise topics that we sometimes raise topics that we don't expect to really explode, but we've been asking whether aggressive birds ,
4:47 am
whether aggressive birds, threatening birds, vermin in the sky should be culled. you know , sky should be culled. you know, seagulls, pigeons, that kind of thing. well opinions are running very hot tonight. let me have a look at this. what have we got here? simon says hi, mark. leave the seagulls alone. they are synonymous with the seaside. and in fact, their numbers have crashed in recent years due to over fishing. matthew says. hi, mark. cull the magpies. they are the jihadis of the bird world and they kill all songbirds in the nest. hi mark. yes, yes, yes. please cull or get rid of seagulls and crows, says patricia. it just goes on and on and on. look, thank you for your emails. keep them coming. mark at gbnews.com. let's get back to more of the papers now and we've got the sunday times. here's what they lead with . i don't what they lead with. i don't want to kill anyone . diary of want to kill anyone. diary of dead russian soldier reveals torment. baristas and au pairs could return under european visa

scheme and khan to rethink ulez after call from keir starmer . after call from keir starmer. okay, well let's bring my brilliant pundits. well, we've got the delighted to say we've got the delighted to say we've got the delighted to say we've got the observer. thank you for that. so let's look at the observer front page. and observer front page. sunak and starmer do not dump starmer are warned. do not dump your green pledges. okay, well, let's. get reaction now let's. let's get reaction now from my brilliant pundits. i'm delighted to say that we have stephanie takyi peter lloyd and neil. wonderful, lovely neil, former national newspaper editor neil wallace. so, listen, let's get into sunak versus starmer, the background to this. peter is the background to this. peter is the by—election on thursday in london, uxbridge and south rice . lib keir starmer three showing the london mayor under the bus saying we lost it because of your policies. the ulez , which your policies. the ulez, which is basically a new scheme in which londoners have to pay £12.50 a day to get in their car. so what's your reading of this story? >> well , i
4:49 am
this story? >> well, i think it's delicious that there's potentially a fracture in their relationship because as we were just saying in the commercial break, as mayor of london, sadiq khan has got no fixed term. so he could be in power for a long time, just like putin. right. not dissimilar , although i think dissimilar, although i think putin's probably more likeable than sadiq khan. but you know, look, so i actually welcome the idea that maybe keir starmer is going to call out sadiq khan and it might just be khan's downfall. i think that would be fantastic for london and for the country and what we're seeing. >> stephanie , is politicians >> stephanie, is politicians across the political spectrum . across the political spectrum. rishi sunak keir starmer being encouraged by their own party inside orders to dilute their environmental policies in order to win votes. >> i know, but i just feel like it's also i think maybe it works for rishi, but i don't think it works for starmer to be honest. i think this is not what labour is traditionally about. we're supposed to be about the environment, aren't they're
4:50 am
supposed be more green supposed to be more green friendly. and kerr's friendly. and i think kerr's kind of just changing that all around. well, yes. >> the sort of >> and the base, the sort of grass roots labour supporters want net zero. >> they won't be happy to see this. >> so i think to myself, kirsten starmer, is he trying to win more conservative votes? is he being to labour? i don't being loyal to labour? i don't think so. briefly neil, how does keir starmer square that circle that voters are getting fed up with policies , but with environmental policies, but yet his base, his core supporters love it. >> the pin tweet on my twitter account . it is a picture of account. it is a picture of starmer, which essentially says you don't like my principles. i've got new principles to any principle, any principles you like. now that's the truth of starmer , who will do and say starmer, who will do and say anything to be in power. yeah. and i think that this is a fascinating example. what we're talking about here will starmer ditch the green pledge, the net zero pledge? and the answer is
4:51 am
yes. if he thinks it will get him an extra vote. and that's the truth of it. so he really has no hard and fixed principles. other than power for the sake of power. now, unfortunately, the tories have managed to shoot themselves in the to such an extent over the foot to such an extent over the foot to such an extent over the last year or so that they've opened the door him. but opened the door for him. but this big issue because one this is a big issue because one of the things i don't quite agree with you about, incidentally, is, you know, the base red wall tory sorry, the red wall labour voter, the guys who are out there not in london, not in the south—east, actually way out there, they don't like it. they know the reality is they will be paying the bill for this. >> well, you're right, labour support is bifurcated, isn't it, between a sort of metropolitan woke types and then and then traditional working class labour supporters who are anti—woke and who voted tory last time , who who voted tory last time, who voted and love brexit and are not happy about net zero. >> so poor old keir starmer is trying to ride two horses, which doesn't end well, does it? >> well, what i've seen so far
4:52 am
about he probably will about him is he probably will change about three change his mind in about three months. he's going see what months. he's going to see what the so i don't think the trend is. so i don't think he is to be trusted he does the trend is. so i don't think he is oute trusted he does the trend is. so i don't think he is out with sted he does the trend is. so i don't think he is out with statementsie does the trend is. so i don't think he is out with statements like es come out with statements like this he's going this because he's just going to be watching what's, as you said, what's going get him vote. what's going to get him a vote. so honest, i don't think so to be honest, i don't think he's that his words, he's a man that backs his words, flip starmer flip flop, starmer strikes again. flip flop, starmer strikes agawell, look , he and people >> well, look, he and his people would that are ahead >> well, look, he and his people wcthe that are ahead >> well, look, he and his people wcthe polls that are ahead >> well, look, he and his people wcthe polls because are ahead >> well, look, he and his people wcthe polls because britainhead >> well, look, he and his people wcthe polls because britain isad in the polls because britain is ready a change. look, it's ready for a change. look, it's all about opinions. listen, stephanie, now let's get stephanie, briefly now let's get to headline hero of the to your headline hero of the day, my headline hero. >> i thought say this. >> i never thought i'd say this. i be dreaming. is nigel i must be dreaming. is nigel farage , i'm just i'm farage actually, i'm just i'm quite impressed how he's handled this story. he's actually this story. and he's actually brought the banks to actually call out actually what's happenedin call out actually what's happened in this situation here. and the fact that he's actually planning to counts as well, planning to sue counts as well, i think is quite interesting . i think is quite interesting. >> and neil, you feel the same way. hero as way. he's your headline hero as well, question. well, without question. >> absolutely. he's brought a huge about press freedom, huge issue about press freedom, about freedom of express written into the public arena where it desperately needs to be.
4:53 am
>> yeah. to you. right. okay. who's your headline hero? is it keir starmer? peter no, my headune keir starmer? peter no, my headline hero was farage, and i picked him first before the two such copy cats. >> so viewers , can i just say >> so viewers, can i just say i did have an original thought. >> he lies , i promise you. >> he lies, i promise you. >> he lies, i promise you. >> i did . no, obviously, i echo >> i did. no, obviously, i echo the sentiments expressed here. i'm really proud of farage for what he did. i thought it was a wonderful piece of journalism. yes. and he should feel vindicated. >> right . >> that's right. >> that's right. >> great journalist. right. well look, he's changed the world so many over, he? many times over, hasn't he? extraordinary >> you get the brexit and then drawing attention to illegal migrant banking migrant crossings, the banking crisis, course crisis, anti—woke. and of course , he is here at gb news. look, let's now, stephanie, get to your back. page zero. who's grinding your gears? >> i've gone for the chief executive of mcdonald's, alastair macro, because he's come out today said he didn't realise so much abuse was going on shocking in his own restaurants and i never get it when ceos are not checking to see that their staff are being looked for and that any potential scandals like this can
4:54 am
be avoided. >> yeah, you're right. well said . your back. page zero is . peter, your back. page zero is sadiq khan or sadiq khan , as sadiq khan or sadiq khan, as i like to call him , not just like to call him, not just because of the ulez disaster, which is backfiring in his face, but also because he's just launched this thing on social media, which is all about, if you see your male friends making a joke that in some way makes women the punch line, then you've got to say, may don't do it. >> and you think , god, you're a >> and you think, god, you're a prat. harsh but fair. >> i mean, i almost didn't say i almost said something else then. >> so you look silly, billy. something like that. >> yeah, something like that. >> yeah, something like that. >> listen, the clock is against us.cani >> listen, the clock is against us. can i thank my fantastic pundh us. can i thank my fantastic pundit tonight? it's a pundit tonight? it's been a brilliant and brilliant debate. and most importantly to importantly, thank you to you for company . let importantly, thank you to you for company. let me tell for your company. let me tell you, we're back tomorrow with ann my big ann widdecombe. and my big opinion and my take at ten. i couldn't do it without you watching telly, listening on watching on telly, listening on the radio. for rory for the radio. thanks for rory for the radio. thanks for rory for

the as well. speaking the radio. thanks for rory for th> good evening. my name is rachel ayers and welcome to your latest news weather forecast brought to you by the met office . so it's been quite a dull and gloomy start to the weekend. things do look a little bit brighter for some on sunday, but all unsettled weather is all this unsettled weather is due to this area of low pressure moving eastwards across the uk throughout this weekend . now, throughout this weekend. now, looking at the detail for tonight's weather and across much of scotland, it will be dry with clearer spells . so with some clearer spells. so a cool night to come here, but elsewhere, plenty of cloud around and some strong winds , around and some strong winds, too, especially for english channel coasts where we could see local coastal gales. so temperatures for many tonight not dropping out of the teens.
4:56 am
so another dull and cloudy start to sunday morning for much of england, wales and northern ireland with heavy rain across northern england and into northern england and into northern parts of wales that could bring some localised disruption. either side of this, some brighter spells and the odd shower too. but temperatures faring a little bit better tomorrow compared to today with highs of 23 in the southeast . highs of 23 in the southeast. now looking into the new week and that band of rain from tomorrow will continue to sink its way southwards , but cooler, its way southwards, but cooler, fresher and drier conditions following in behind . so a little following in behind. so a little bit of a better start to the new week. but as we go towards the middle part of the week, more rain moving in from the west and those temperatures not looking like they're going to get much above average as the temperatures are rising. >> boxt solar proud sponsors of weather on .
