having me. >> lawrence: i'm sure a lot ofern m americans are glad you did this and were expecting biden administration to do something similar. how did you pull it off? >> this is not just chartering a plane and people get on and they live happily ever after. we've had folks working who have been on the ground in dangerous parts of haiti to get people out of difficult situations to where they can be brought back home to the united states. we are not getting great cooperation with the federal government, unfortunately. we did similar rescue flights in israel, the difference is the israeli government was supportive of what we were doing. haiti is a different story.

close to 400 floridians have signed up and over 500 americans. we are focusing on floridians, if there is somebody who is american, we want to do that. what will help us is to launch flights out of dominican republic, we are working with state department, if we helicopter people over, can we fly out of there. it is not necessarily optimal, we want to get as many people out as possible. >> ainsleyhave you found in dangerous areas, it is harder to get americans out? i was listening to a young lady who said she is getting married this saturday and her mom is stuck there going from hotel to hotel, no one will pick her up or give her a ride because it is so dangerous. she's worried her mom will not be able to safely get on a

flight. >> well, some of the people that have been rescued, that has been people on the ground that helped navigate around that. that is not an easy situation, not as simple as calling a cab and getting to the airport and you go home. those are challenges we're going to work through. we're committed and have good assets. i will say this, though. we are vetting people. we are not bring people if we don't know who they are, we are making sure they are floridians, u.s. citizens, have a right to come. it is like pulling teeth to deal with this. how the hell does that make any sense? >> steve: no kidding. you transported some to martha's vineyard. if there are haitians coming

into florida, they could end up in commonwealth of massachusetts. my wife and i personally saw three weeks ago, visiting friends on jupiter island and theres a police roadblock because a boat from the dominican republic had come ashore and the migrants jumped off and scattered and police were looking for them. there are a couple instances where people got in boats and came to florida. a lot of people just come through mexico. i know you have staffed things up along the coast to intercept people. can you explain what you are doing? >> we've always been involved in helping coast guard mission to protect our shores. they don't have enough resources. if coast guard can stop them, they turn them around to go back to haiti, that is the law.

we have plus up resources beginning in 2023, i did executive order. since january of 2023, state of florida, independent from coast guard intercepted 700 vessels that resulted in repatriation of 14,000 illegal aliens. the boats that come, most get intercepted and turned around. we do what we can, coast guard does what it can. since the situation has deteriorated, we have unprecedented array of folks in the water. we have florida fish and wildlife, florida law enforcement, highway patrol people out there helping the coast guard. it would be good if the biden administration would plus up

resources for the coast guard, they don't have enough resources to be able to protect our shorelines. we sent a message that it is not worth getting in a boat and doing that, chance of you makikg it is small. you will get intercepted and go back and we have not actually seen some major uptick in vessels from what we had been seeing recently, i think it is the case, if you want to come to the u.s. from haiti, easiest way is not to take a boat, but to go to mexico and walk across the border and that is how most of the haitians under biden have come through the southern border. >> lawrence: you have been so gracious to send your men and women to texas to help us secure the border there. >> yeah, i was the first state

back in 2021 to do it. now that the supreme court has allowed sb four to go in, i'm interested to see if our guys can be helpful, the missing piece,s why, people come across the texas-mexico border and we would have texas dps stop them, border patrol would release them into this country. if they can stop, arrest and turn them back across the border, that is a huge de deterrent. i'm supportive of that mission. they can count on us. it is an issue for our country, all states should be concerned about that. this border issue affects all states. i just signed a flurry of bills to crack down on illegal aliens for people deported before and they come back into this country
