arguments along the lines of the specific bills.bi social media censorship bills passed in florida and texas.en i texas is leading the way when it comes to requiring reasonable age verification by third parties for these platforms. it ireats a great, strong, stanf these states have to keep sorting aheaosd and do the most important thing which is to protect their children from the predations of these big tech companies. parents like myself are outgunned and we need legislative help. >> trey: all right, emma, assuming the bill is constitutional mahout in your judgment will or can it be because a lot of people and alcohol, cigarettes, vaping, there are age laws for all ofll that and people find their way around it.n th how can this be enforced? >> that is a great question,

trey. that is the issue at hand that we are facing. young people understand how to get around limits. they have for years many different avenues. so social media is no different. the genie is out of the bottle. social media is here to stay. therefore, we have to look at other ways to design platforms for young people rather than just putting up bams. we need to critically investigate how we can hold these companies accountable so honest does not fall on the parent or usurper on tingupe ne them toate ho can hoo protect young people and their mental health. >> i will ask yoprotu both assua question becausesk neither one o old enough to be a senator but one day you might be. kara, we will start with yourber what would you ask jud mark zuckerbergs of the world if you are on the senate judiciary committee anand then, emma, you testified before a senate committee, but let's assume 30 years from now you are actually the senator doing the questioning. what wouldould both of you ask? kara, you go first and then you, emma. >> i would say, mark, you haveth to stop the bleeding.

the first thing ang when that ms stop designing products as emma said so well, stop designing products with addictive features to draw in kids. there was an interesting data point thatinte came out of face, those documents that said, c facebook was actually creatings teens to draw in younger andsi younger users. they considered and dered i quot retains a valuable but untappeda audiencend. stop that first and foremost. as i said, secondly, designed these products so you don't have to retrofit legislation likeslat man's spirit but i'm sorry, you have to stop the bleeding. you have to cauterize the wound and you have to be in especiall for minors under the age of 16. you just have to stop and designed with privacy, with empowering parents, withgs i stringent default settings in mind if you designed these products to begin with. >> exactly. senator lemke. >> i want to echo everything,

too. i believe what we have to say is empty words are costing us lives, the lives of youngnext individuals, the legs of theal next generation. we need to see tech companies actually step up and take action designed products so they are not addictive or taking advantagage e of the brains of g people across the country. we need to demand better and see results. right now we are nothem seeing them. therefore, it cannot be maintained. >> trey: i'm grateful to both of you for sharing your expertise on a sunday night. >> thanks, trey. >> thank you. >> trey: thank you for spending part of your sunday with us. i hope you have a great week gre ahead. until next week find us online at gaudi america >> todd: we are learning more information about the illega
