[laughter] will: at lot of good football games yesterday. i stayed up watching them. we think about the mood in new york city to reconsider george washington, some of the other statues. it was warned this would happen, the move on to george washington. and now we will move on to the southern border where yesterday alejandro mayorkas toured the border along with with the president of honduras, went to mcallen, texas. hot day in texas yesterday, back to 2100. -- 100. pete: really in. will: had lightened up, and that was tough on several illegal immigrants getting caught up in

razor wire which is once again being cut by border patrol. texas will have to come in once again and replace that raise corps -- razor wire. he tweeted the following with pics, i'm grateful to the honduran president to join me in visiting and seeing our cbp's extraordinary work in action. rachel: he is inviting her to the facilities where we're processing so many of her citizens, and he wants her to know it's going pretty well. pete: in record time. rachel: rachel: yeah. pete: wouldn't you instead want a tweet that that says stop coming? we stand united? rachel: yeah. i told the president that, you know, we're not going to do this anymore. you need to keep your people there, we're going to, you know, stop them from coming in there. but instead, as you can see, the federal border patrol is just cutting the wires that the texa- pete: yep.

apparently, there was a 4-hour standoff in that 100-degree heat where they weren't going to cut it, and these illegals got caught -- rachel: and the weather conditions are another factor. we don't know how many have passed away, by the way, on the desert coming here. but certainly there was that standoff, and eventually we relented. will: washington post/a abc has a new poll out, and this is what they found, 63 -- 62 of people disapprove of joe biden's handling of the border crisis -- 62%. rachel: those are incredible numbers. those numbers show that that's actually bipartisan numbers. and the more that that we or these governors continue to the send people over to blue cities who claim to be sanctuary cities until it got to be too much for them, the more you're to going to see those numbers go up. those are pretty stark. pete: the question is just how many people vote on that that issue. there's so many different things

[laughter] will: he knew it when it came out. he knew he'd messed up hl cool -- ll cool j, and then he called him a boy and then quickly corrected it to man. rachel: he's done that before, by the way. i believe it's with the governor of maryland, wes -- pete: wes moore. rachel: he's been called out on this before. if you look at his age, it's something we talk about, he's old enough to remember when that was used a lot as a pejorative, and he did it, he corrected himself. but he has a long history of making racist -- pete: quick little default comment that pops out here or there. never be something i would ever even conceive of.

rachel: exactly. will: i disagree a little. i'm not quick to throw rocks because i think people -- hey, i think our age we say we're boys or, you know, what's up. that's a little different than how he just used it -- rachel: what? pete: that's different than how it got used. rachel: no, no, i'm saying you might talk that way, but he's at a dinner if this -- for this organization, but ll cool j is a rapper, but he's also a entrepreneur -- pete: he's also, like, 50. rachel: he's 50. will: i think he's trying to be cool. pete: you think they're boys? rachel: he's trying. pete: after saying llj cool j -- [laughter] will: he's trying to recover some cool. pete: did you see his face though? he's just frozen. there's no way i'm going to recover. it was actually the, if it had meant to be an intentional joke, the audience took it as so.

rachel: if he had not also said to barack obama you're the first clean, articulate black man that's ever run for office, i'd give him probably a little more grace. will: yeah, that's pretty unforgivable. rachel: and also because he call out racism on everything. his party is built on calling out racist to anybody who disagrees with him. is so he doesn't deserve that grace in that situation. but the people in that crowd all vote for hum. pete: he also had some insights on his role last night at the dinner. take a listen to joe. >> so i'm running again, and you may have noticed a lot of people have focused on my age. well, i get it, believe me. i know better than anyone. [laughter] but there's something else i know. when i came to office, this nation was flat on its back. i knew what to do, i vaccinated the nation and rebuilt the the economy.

[applause] when russia invaded ukraine, i knew what to do, i rebuilt nato and brought our alliance toal -- to rally the world. and above all, when democracy was at a stake, i knew what to do. rachel: the funniest part of it is he rebuilt this economy. he destroyed this economy. it's interesting that he's trying to rewrite history there. but again, look at the audience. they love him. pete: well, he didn't come up with a vaccine, by the way. he's the one that threw on all the mandates that got people fired, joe and others and their ilk, as well as blue cities that added on top the of it. and as far as ukraine, he toll us he was going to prevent that war for the longest time, that was the whole point. and then didn't get the memo. will: it was a rainy day in new york yesterday, but it didn't stop the pizza fest started by barstool sports' dave portnoy. of course, as you're well aware,

he had an interaction with the "the washington post" about a hit piece, he recorded the information with the reporter of that hit piece. and then yesterday at the festival, he talked about that event. watch. >> you know what people like that never get? the pizza makers, that makes my brand and the pizza brand stronger. what they do is just bring the community who just wants to have fun, live life, eat pizza together, so they actually were a blessing in disguise. rachel: and while he was there -- did somebody win, by the way? is there, like, a prize for the best pizza? pete: i don't know. but considering the weather, it was a that'llly day -- gnarly day many in new york, yesterday, it was a good turnout. rachel: we're going to talk to him later. pete: we'll ask him if there was a winner. i 9:950. rachel: one of the

[laughter] pete: there are days when i'll see a pizza hut commercial, and it's over. i have to have pizza today. rachel: well, i'm sure that the pizzas that were being sold or given to the pizza-goers yesterday was much better than pizza hut. will: he thinks -- pete: pizza hut is number one, when done properly. rachel: it's a formula. it can never -- it's processed a certain way -- pete: i'm a connoisseur. mccarthy reverses course on funding for ukraine after saying it would get a separate vote. >> some people had concerns about ukraine, so let's put it out, vote by itself. that was my idea. they're trying to work through, that's not solving it -- [inaudible] and so it became, became too difficult to do that. so we're leaving it in. pete: yesterday house republicans set up floor debates for four fiscal bills for this week, but it's not clear if they'll have the votes. current government funding ends at the end of the month. and to college football, ohio state stunning notre dame with a clutch touchdown 16-14 late in the fourth. >> give it to him, up the middle, he's in! of new york city for the annual tunnel to towers 55k. -- 5k. pete: retracing the route of fallen firefighter stephen siller on september 11th. rachel: let's check in with joey jones outside where the race kicks off today. joey, good morning. how you doing over there? >> good morning, guys. we've got a little bit of of the luck of the irish with the weather today, but i don't think it's going to deferer the -- deter the any of the 40,000 people, the largest event ever, stephen siller ran through the brooklyn battery tunnel on september 11th, 2001. i don't know if our audience has ever had a chance to be here, but if you haven't, try to make it. this is the most patriotic thing you'll ever see. you'll have firefighters, police officers, service members, ca departments. it's an amazing e event. people are starting to show up, the ubers are dropping off behind me here.

if the election was helded today. those numbers are certainly higher than what came across the tape in 2020. here to reab act is retired nypd lieutenant, democrat voter, sammy if rubello, and republican voter, mom of two and latino immigrant dell. sammy, as a democrat, do those numbers surprise you at all, the increase in support amongst blacks and hispanics for former president trump? >> no, i'm not surprised. obviously, with what we see with the inflation, with crime, with education and immigration, you know, those are all issues that latinos care about. and what we're seeing is the breakdown on each one of these issues by the current administration. so i'm not prized at all to see -- surprised to see. pete: caroline, are you feeling and seeing the same thing? >> right, yeah, the same thing. we care about education, we care

about safety, we care about the economy, and right now it's not looking good. the results aren't what we were expecting for, from all the promises made by the biden administration. finish rook at our dallas mayor. he switched parties. pete: that's true, he did. apparently, many plan to do so at the ballot box. now, sammy, joe and his campaign are going to try to outreach to latino voters and others to coincide with the second primary debate here on fox business, are voters looking at, hey, what have you done for me in the last two and a half years? >> it's what have you done for me in two and a half years. it's mind-boggling when we see our cities literally crumbling down, philadelphia and san francisco, the homelessness, new york city with immigration. and, you know, it really -- the result is what matters, especially now in these upcoming

elections, and can that's what we want to see. pete: caroline, it's interesting to hear sammy say immigration, this ises an issue that's move moved across the country, but down in dallas, even more so. how is the hispanic minority committee feeling about the statuses of the border, and how much does that motivate who they support? >> you know, at the border i feel like we have a humanitarian issue right now. there's trafficking, and we are very worried about our people that are coming into the country looking for the american dream and all they're finding at the border is a disaster, sadness and really that american dream is the opposite, the opposite of what they're looking for is what they're finding at the border. that hurts. pete: absolutely. we've got one more aspect of the fox news poll, do you approve or disapprove of joe biden, the fact that how he's doing as president of the united states among hispanic vote sheers, 57

disapprove, 42% approve. is there anything he could do right now, sammy, to reverse course and regain that support, in your mind? >> well, start spending money here in the united states of america. i think that's something that, you know, we hear especially coming from donald trump. he wants to stop the war in ukraine. north of $1000 billion -- $100 billion spent on ukraine, we have hardly spent a dime on maui. things like this, you look at it, what's more important, you know? a country that's miles away or our own country and our borders? our borders are just erased, so we need to start enforcing our borders. pete: last word, carolina, as we head into this last debate, there's alternatives there, what are you looking for? >> i'm looking for to get in touch. i want people to get, the republicans to get in touch with our people. they, i want them to be on the ground, i i want them to

jersey. probably another 48 hourss or so before this is fully out of here. the storm's moving slowly. heavier rain showers across parts of northern new jersey, long island. significantly wind-driven rain is causing a lot of problems here. and we have the rain that's happening now, throughout the day today. watch what happens here, this is tomorrow morning, 7:00. still a lot of rain setting up across parts of southern new england, probably in towards long island, maybe new york city tomorrow. monday at noon, still have the rain going on. so we have a ways to get through, guys, to get fully done with ophelia with, probably by tuesday before we see the the sun again across parts of the mid-atlantic and northeast. will: thank you, rick. 40,000 people are running the streets of new york city today for the annual tunnel to towers 5k. rachel: and joey jones is live from the brooklyn battery tunnel and joined by former new york city fire commissioner sal casas doe. joey, good morning. >> yeah, good morning, guys.

listen, i feel like the sun's going to peep out, i think we're going to have a chamber of commerce day, i really do. sal's not only a former new york city fire commissioner, but also a board member of tunnel to towers. you know, we get to spend time together every year out here for this event, and i was reading some of your notes. you know, one thing you point out is in the aftermath of 9/11, it unit wasn't just the heroics, but losing almost 350 firemen, you had to continue on, continue to service the city with fire service and ems. tell me a little bit about what that was like, to see men and women step up to fill that void. >> it was amazing, joey. it was, you know, we were devastated. we lost 343 members. 6000 children were orphaned -- 600 children lost their dads, and we had to attend memorial services, attend funerals, still tend to the business. we had to make sure the city was safe, rebuild downtown new york. and people had to step up way before they thought they would have to, and they all did. they worked countless hours,

took tyke away from their families to rebuild the city and the department. >> so much of this event and the tunnel to towers foundation celebrates men and women that served in combat, lost legs, lost their spouse, gold star wiveses, but a big a part of it too is supporting first responders. both of my brothers-in-law have been firemen for more than 20 years, and i always think back to the fact when the they go to dinner with their family, they're driving through their battle feel. and new york city became a battlefield for first responders that day. how important is it to have an event like this to memorialize them? >> i think it shows the the members of the department that if something happens to you, we're going to take care of your families. when i starlet thed as a young firefighter in 1969, the first thing i was told was if something happens to you, we're going to take care of your family. that makes you want to work, you work harder for it, and you know somewhere down the line you may have to pay that forward. taking care of the families of

the fallen. >> you know, we say all the time that our country came together on september 12th, 2001, and sometimes we feel like we lost that. but when you have 40,000 people show up today in the rain to run this 5k in support of tunnel to towers and also in support of patriotism, that makes you feel like we're still a patriotic country. >> so we haven't lost it. you come to new york, you know that september 11th affected all of us. it didn't stop on september 11th, we just lost our 343rd member yesterday to world trade center illness, is so it continues. but people are here to support us, tunnel to towers supports our first responders and veterans like no other organization. >> guys, i'm going to hand it off to you, sal and i have going to get ready to greet 40,000 people. will: sal, joey, thank you so much. rachel: thanks, joey. pete: i never thought -- i hadn't thought about the servicing of the city while it's going on, such a great point. will: all right, still ahead, heroism in hawaii.

will: this past week i had the chance to go back to maui and sit down with a true hero. he works for a company called truth excavation, and during the worst of the wildfires, that day and that night, he drove his water truck through the streets of lahaina, and he saved many lives. take a look at his amazing story. >> when the fire happened, i didn't even think of dying at all. my goal was just going in to save lives. will: how many hours were you in town? >> seven hours. seven or eight hours. the fire is, like, already about 50 feet away from me, and it's coming fast. dark, black smoke and fire mixed together. and it's not like coming vertical, but it's leaning with the wind.

and it's making even harder. there was -- [inaudible] hanging on top, and i just drag them along the way. i know there's people out there that needs help, and i have the water truck to do it. and it just, i'm like, god, just, just work through me and guide me in there. will: how many people do you think it was that a in the end you escorted out of lahaina? >> 16 or 17 people. will: and how many trips was that? >> five trips. the heaviest part of my rescue was i saw one little girl, she was still breathing, but she can't hang on, you know? and i held that little girl on my arms, and she looked at me and that was it. i couldn't save that kid, but i

was able to save a couple more kids. there was four teenagers that a happened to be tourists. they were running, looking for way out. you know? i only have this little bit of water in my tank. it's pretty much for me to get me out of the fire. so what i did, i sacrificed that water for those teenagers. will: whey did you want to tell me -- why did you want to tell me your story? >> because there's a lot of crazy, crazy conspiracy out there, you know? about people talking about the laser beam and all of that. and none of that's true. pretty much blaming the cops. the cops really, they do their best, you know? they do their best and the firefighters. will: i think when people don't

have information if they don't understand, they do fill it with other information. so you saw is, your experience is, what? that amidst chaos, everyone was doing their best? that that perhaps mistakes were made? >> yes. everyone do their part. but things just happened so quick. so you can't really, like, you know, plant things -- plan things ahead and bring more water trucks or more cops to help people get out of there, you know? it just happened so quick. and people just abandoned their cars on the road. will: there has been some questions, why couldn't people get off of front street? was what you saw that people abandoned cars at some point, ran from their cars, and that made it so cars behind couldn't get out? >> yes, correct. and, you know, people pretty much panic. those conspiracy if going to end up divide us. i want people of lahaina to know that we're the one we see every day from day one.

i was here for a reason and god placed me here for a reason. before my mom passed away to cancer, that was october of last year, her last words to me was don't leave maui. maybe she knew that something was going to happen and that i'm the right guy with for the job. will: it was -- rachel: wow. will: when you do interviews sometimes, and this one actually felt more like therapy. i'd never met him before, but i know a i mutual friend, they said he needs to get this off his chest, it's weighing on him. and what's weighing on him is he told you about the little girl that died in his arms. he said i left her in the city ors, i had to move on to getting other people. he goes, i have nightmares about that because that's to not what you should do, shouldn't leave even a body behind, is how he feels today. of course, there's no backseat driving in a situation like that. rachel: it's this whole piece is

such a reminder that we can't forget because the trauma's real. will: oh, man. rachel: it's going to be there for a long time. from your going back this last time, you brought supplies, what kind of mental health services are going to maui? will: there were people on that flight we did yesterday we talked about for therapists, and they're trying to to train 500 locals to do, to teach people there to do therapy. a lot of people ask me, hey, will, you're doing these local human interest stories, where are you on getting to the bottom of it. i do the think there were a lot of political decisions that contributed to making this happen, and i've talked about that. but he did want to do this because he said, listen, there was no laser beam that a started this -- pete: no, there are actual -- will: there's theories on the internet. there's not 2,000 kids missing, the kids were from the school system, because the school system is kind of gone. the cops didn't intentionally

[laughter] this is so interesting. there's this recent social media trend, and it shows that men think about the the roman empire, get this, several times a week if not every day. a history expert, you know, breaks down why. why do you think that -- >> so they send the topics before i come on, right? rachel: yeah. >> i'm, like, what men do this? i realize i think about the roman empire -- can. rachel: i do too. >> i had these quotes, and one is the happiness in your life
