not stormy or anything but the current is real and dangerous and difficult. the first year they did it, had to hold onto get through parts of the current. rachel: he's trained up now. he's man bun and jacked up. douglas: i'm grateful that we are here in studio. griff: charlie, arnold, see how things are going. can you give us an update how the boys are doing? >> reporter: everyone looking good. pete's man bun holding up. the guys in those tiny shorts, they are fortunate to be dressed, pretty covered up. it is chilly out here but the water, not too cold. that's good news. they are on the first leg of the swim. i'm told this is the most difficult portion of it because they are swimming against the current. they have the current assisting

them. that's better news. it is a 1 mile swim. liberty island to ellis island and from there, to battery park. the layovers, 22 pull-ups, 100 push-ups. and searching for better lives. and the freedoms, honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11. and e final words? they were ready to go. they have the best of the best surroundings them. 220 participants in the hudson river. we are not going to make anything else but hoping they can accomplish that swiftly.

rachel: people say that's why we had to deal with the situation in ukraine, it encouraged the russians to become more aggressive, situation ukraine is making, you talked about leaving weapons behind in afghanistan. spending a lot of money and weapons in ukraine, depleting our resources as resources militarily speaking as china is showing off this week with russia doing exercises in the south china sea showing what they can do making advances. when your admirals are in dresses, it's time for your enemies to advance and they are seeing problems, money being spent and foreign policy playing into it as they see their pocketbooks getting weaker and weaker, our economy and kitchen table issues.

structured enforcement at the border sort of orderly way and getting gang members in trouble. the video we played earlier today, they had video of a 17-year-old driving three illegal migrants, smuggling them, crashed, every single day we see that stuff. here is what he said earlier. >> situation at the border has become more dangerous to law enforcement. the fact we see these armed gunmen coming across the border wearing military armor, high-powered rifles, tactical gear similar to what we would wear or the military wears, making presence known, not firing against fire department agents but early on as well where we have cartel members fire towards national guard to intimidate them.

they have so much more influence. they are not afraid to do these dangerous tactics, and to scare law enforcement. douglas: the illegal immigration issue has been a massive issue for several elections but the latest fox news paul, since the last election, we've seen this come to major cities and democrat cities in particular who used to get away with it. all these places said we are a sanctuary city, welcome all migrants, no one is illegal here. those cities are actually now experiencing what people in texas and arizona have been experiencing for years, new yorkers and others ignoring the border, getting a taste of what it is like.

rachel: it isn't until you live in arizona and texas, 11-year-old girl in texas who was raped and killed by an illegal immigrant who came from guatemala, illegally turned himself in and was released as all of them are and ended up murdering this little girl and sexually assaulting her. he had criminal cases similar to that in his home country. these are the things that are happening but important to talk about what lieutenant olivera said, this is a national security problem. they are brazen and richer and more powerful than ever before. they are using military tactics against our own people, it is increasing, isis scale and beyond, and destabilizing our southern neighbor that used to be and remains an important training partner but we are

rachel: will finished the first leg. charlie are no has been following their progress. what's going on? >> reporter: let me just say this is a fantastic view, lots of swimmers, navy seals up here doing pool ups and push-ups. will kane is in the water, he will make his way appear in just a second. looks like he beat out pete who actually is the veteran in this race between the two of them. he has completed this twice already. this is will's first time

completing the seal swim. across to will, how are you doing? house the water out there? will: a little chilly. it is good. the current is strong coming across to you but pretty well. >> reporter: this is the hardest leg of the swim because you're working against the current. did you feel that? >> yes. this is 3 quarters of a mile to ellis island, a mile and 1/2 in. rachel: i thought he was going to beat you out. will: he's out there somewhere. rachel: noman left behind. >> reporter: what is like being out there with the rest of the swimmers? so excited to be here. can't lose your flippers. >> reporter: it was awesome. it was awesome. we are under the statue of liberty. how amazing?

move on to the next topic, nicholas madero, the dictator in venezuela, the most formidable opponent was a young charismatic mayor, leopold lopez from the mayor of caracas in prison, eventually put under house arrest and had to escape the country. latinos know what he was in prison for, a violent political protest, that put red flags up for hispanics. democrats are playing a dangerous game. let's move to the smithsonian latino museum. a lot of controversy, break down a little bit of that. >> the funding was passed because of center-right republican senators who were persuaded by it latinos, on the other side and other folks that they are going to operate in good faith to make sure we have

douglas: welcome back. it's the 2023 new york city navy seal swim honoring our nation's heroes. griff: pete and will finish the first leg and are getting ready for the second. charlie has been following the progress. what is the latest? we know will have a strong first leg, pete is getting ready for the second one. >> reporter: will have a strong first leg. pete also, not a bad job. i was surprised, you're the veteran. i was expecting you to beat out will. he put in a strong performance of this morning. >> he was a swimmer and he proved it, he was with me the moment i yelled things in the middle of the hudson river.
