veterans. whether you agree or disagree with migrants being housed in the hudson valley, i believe all of us can agree that this issue should not negatively impact our homeless veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country. on thursday new york city eric adams sent two buses with adult single male migrants, 60 in total to suburban orange county. the migrants are voluntary participants in relocation program with the city paying for them to have a four-month hotel stay. adams planned to send migrants to rockland county but a judge issued temporary restraining order blocking the city's move. the city is reviewing legal options in response. as for orange county, there were lawsuits filed attempting to stop adams' plan but the migrants still arrived and the county leaders aren't happy at how this played out. >> in the last couple of days since i've spoken to you, brides and brooms and wedding parties

have been kicked out of the hotel in place for migrants in new york city. 15 veterans were kicked out, combat veterans, afghanistan, iraq, vietnam veterans that were homeless and the slew of other people -- reporter: new york city spokesperson respond today the attempts to block migrants headed for the suburbs saying and until the federal government steps up other elected officials around the state and country will have to do so. the new york civil liberty union filed lawsuit on thursday against orange and rockland counties for blocking arrival of migrants. one of the hotels which reportedly evicted the veterans told the new york post it had not done so, had not taken in any migrants nor it has plans to. just new york city announced the launch of its first asylum seeker arrival center and ninth relief center. of course, all of the efforts to handle the influx. mike: cb cotton, thanks a lot. the online fundraiser for marine

question for the second degree manslaughter case. did mr. perry, former marine, in conduct that was unreasonable and was conduct gross deviation from what a reasonable person would have done, if not he's not guilty. mike: what we read that the homeless man was threatening people, the 24-year-old marine, attorneys are saying self-defense. >> i think it's a great defense to put forward because it's the obvious defense to put forward. not only did he restrain this mentally-ill man but two people, the only thing i bring up race, the rogue prosecutors that have been writing about have a view in the world that look through race-colored glasses. you heard previous guests on the show that race had nothing to do. in one sense it shouldn't have anything to do with this. justice should be colored blind and if -- if alvin bragg was

your standard average law and order prosecutor, i don't think people would have questioned this second-degree manslaughter charge or not because they would have based on the facts. he has a long history of letting dangerous people out on in nail and marching marine a hundred thousand dollars bail and on and on and on. this is why this think which is run by black mayor and black da, it's not a race issue, it's a failure that shouldn't have happened in the first place. mike: the family of the deceased man is not happy with second-degree manslaughter charges, what about that? >> well, you know i was a homicide prosecutor and you see all gredations of homicide. this is not a second-degree murder. this was clearly a situation that didn't have to have happen because the city didn't take care of the young man in the first place. you are going to charge him with anything, second-degree manslaughter. the question is, were his

actions substantial and unjustifiable under the circumstances. some people say yes, many people say no. and then was a gross deviation from what the standard person should. do i don't pay attention to protestors. were they protesting when police officers were killed by recidivism criminal that alvin bragg let out, no? i think most wouldn't have. we will see how it plays out. mike: presumably it goes to trial in new york, should the defense worry about a liberal jury? >> every defense should worry about picking the right jury. you may see motion for change of venue to move it out to somewhere else, the picking and the selection of the injury are really the deselection of the jury will be one of the most important parts of this case should it even come to trial. mike: thanks so much with the book.

so. mike: more republicans on the hill think he should be impeached, what do you make on mayorkas and things at the border right now? >> members have every right to be angry with the failure of the situation. the white house has had time. they appointed vice president kamala harris to look over the border issues that we have been facing over a year ago and not much has been done and they announced in january that they were going set the day of may 11th to lift the covid emergency policies and we didn't plan for what was going to happen on may 11th, they have every right to be frustrated because we are seeing surges border at the border for some time in preparation for may 11th. >> no, i don't think so. you know, it's a pandemic-era law and we call -- lots of republicans calling for end to the official pandemic which the president declared and so he couldn't keep it. we had to go back to business as

usual at the border which unfortunately is often kind of a mess. i will say the president has done a bunch of things that the people on the left of my party do not like including sending 1500 troops down to help with administrative things, they are surging some judges and others to help with processing asylum claims, but no president has been able to manage the fundamental problem that central and some parts of south america are disaster and people are desperate and they are coming north no matter what the president is. mike: okay, 2024. florida governor ron desantis was in iowa, how did he do? >> there's no surprise or coincidence that he ended up going to barbecue joint down the road where former president trump was supposed to speak so i definitely thing he's running. mike: performance, did you get to hear from him? >> i say desantis is speaking to one of trump's biggest insecurities.

he's talking about losing and we've heard from senators like cornyn and todd young t that thy are echoing the argument. he again tried several times said that he didn't lose. he's worried about the narrative going into this election for sure. mike: i want to look at numbers from the washington post poll, on the president's job performance, down to 36% and then the question do you think mr. biden has the mental sharpness to serve effectively as president only 32%, matt, what about those numbers? >> they're not great. the poll is outlier. it's much lower in all kinds of ways. reelect numbers, favorability numbers for biden than most other polls including some that come out since. i don't think it's a particularly accurate snapshot but there is no question that this is going to be a tough road back for the president. people like me think that he can

do it, incumbency is advantage for him and he has real record to run on, he passed a bunch of bills, most with bipartisan support. rallied the world against russia in ukraine and he had a really good midterm. so i think things are going to start looking up. mike: one headache for him and his team, hunter biden, his son, investigations in his team and doj. >> it's a narrative that the republican party is going to push. i would say and this is something that many people at home are frustrated by is the hypocrisy on both sides. you know, we would -- if we are going to uphold the law, let's uphold it no matter whose father, you know, is president and not cherry-pick when they decide to enforce it. it's really important. people are frustrated on hypocrisy on both sides. mike: matt, your thoughts? >> there's really no evidence tieing hunter's conduct. whether he did things illegal or

not, we will find out but so far there's zero evidence connect to go conduct of joe biden as president or vice president. his son got $2 billion from the saudis after they left the white house for reasons that remain kind of unclear, so i think the hypocrisy issue is real. mike: so family concerns make people want new blood, new energy to run? >> nepotism, we saudis play in both trump white house and also with the biden family and how they entrenched in policies. the trump administration appointed several of his children to be advisers and no one in the biden family is adviser in a capacity. the fact that we are having this conversation is because we have two candidates who are of an age to have adult children who have history of careers and different things whereas, you know, maybe we should be looking at someone who has kids that we don't

attacked her in shallow water at a florida beach thursday despite sustaining injuries to her stomach, arm, finger and top of her knee, she plans to get right back in the water. what a champ. jonathan live with more on this. hello, jonathan. >> ella reed is amazing young woman, she has the scars to prove attack. it happened at fort pierce, atlanta coast. the shark swam under the friend, headed straight for ella first biting her abdomen. >> i started blocking with arm and hand and slipped in and got my finger and arm and it like scooped around and got my leg again. it didn't really hurt in the first part because adrenaline was just, yeah, i don't know, we were so shocked. >> ella's friend drove her home in golf cart and paramedic rushed her to the hospital. her mom says ella was remarkably

checking account is in danger of running out and there's simply not going to be enough money in it on some given day to pay all of the obligations that are due that day. >> that means hundreds of thousands of federal workers don't get paid potentially the military, benefit checks delayed. treasury decides what checks get cut and since this is like a credit card and the government is over the limit, treasury pays the interest first. >> it will prioritize interest and principal payments so that it's not strictly defaulting on securities on treasury securities which would royal financial markets. >> could wreck the economy. >> if there's no problems of debt ceiling, are you worried about the markets, mr. speaker. >> there's risk whether external forces whether downgraded or a market response could make this situation worse.

handwritten love note from the service member and that makes it very personal and very important. there's also packet of tissues in there because obviously these, these love notes can be very emotional. and so we just kept working on this and we have feedback from so many people. we have already gotten calls this year and emails and notes, so it really touches the women in a very powerful and personal way. mike: beautiful. >> and it kind of us takens during a long deployment. mike: i could imagine. tell us about the visit you and your team had to walter reed to the hospital there. >> lisa miller is basically the other half of full circle home and she runs the walter reed program. we brought 100 boxes down there, actually 75 were for mother's

we are showing a picture of your daughter right now. beautiful picture of her squeezing the bear. very touching image on this mother's day with her parents forward deployed in europe. carolyn, we've seen that operation gratitude issued 19,593 battalion bears, 87,556 troop packages at cost of $25 per care package. what is the reaction that you received from the people whose lives you're touching? >> well, we get so many letters of thanks from the troops, from their family members, everyone we support but it's -- it's a thank you circle, gratitude circle. we are trying to thank them for their service. both the children and the adults and it's very hard warming for us to get that kind of feedback but more heart warming for us to fill those battalion buddies and get them to those children.
