great guy and baseball player keith hernandez. that's on fox nation. you can see it tomorrow morning. for us, we'll be back tomorrow 8 p.m. have the best night with the ones you love. sean hannity follows this show. see you tomorrow. >> sean: welcome to hannity. tonight we are broadcasting from the rayburn reception room in the u.s. capitol. we have a room full of congress men and women. in just a moment, we will be joined by the 555th speaker of the house of representatives kevin mccarthy and also steve scalise. brand new chair of the judiciary committee, that would be jim jordan then the house over sight
6:01 pm
accountability, james coburn and chip roy and republican conference chair. coming up, we will dive head first into the republican agenda from investigations to oversight to, the abuse of power to, removing fang fang's boyfriend from the intel committee. we begin with a special look at the biden center for diplomacy and engagement made possible it appears by the communist party of china. in 2014 shortly after establishing the academic center, all in biden's name and appointing the former vice president national security concerns and now low and behold breaking this week, a trove of
6:02 pm
top secret classified documents, including sensitive compartmented information from the obama administration. they were uncovered in a private unsecured office at the biden center for diplomacy and engagement in a folder that was marked vp personal. now, this reportedly includes secret material surrounding the u.k., iran, ukraine. to put it simply, thanks to joe biden, america's most sensitive secrets were floating around in an unsecured office that was bought and paid for by the ccp. now, perhaps something nefarious as a play or maybe it's joe biden, just like sandy berger. sloppy. just being sloppy. do you remember sandy berger? he took documents. he shoved them down his pants, socks. everybody said, he's just sloppy. he didn't do it on purpose. it accidentally fell into his pants. either way, according to the media mob and the democratic party, this is a serious offense. let's listen to what biden said
6:03 pm
only four short months ago when he was on "60 minutes" one of those rare interviews that he gave. take a look. >> when you saw the photograph of the top secret documents laid out on the floor at mar a-lago, what did you think to yourself, looking at that image? >> how that could possibly happen. how anyone could be that irresponsible. and i thought what data was in there that may compromise sources and methods? by that i mean names of people who helped, etc? and just totally irresponsible. >> sean: how could anyone be that irresponsible? all right. tonight maybe biden should be asking himself that question. now, of course, joe biden doesn't need to defend himself. why should he? he's got don lemon, liberal morning joe, ladies of "the view." he's got two fake news networks, fake news cnn, washington post, new york times. three networks, abc, cbs, nbc
6:04 pm
and dozens of other outlets that are more than happy to defend the president against all odds. take a look. >> the department of justice is reviewing classified documents found in a personal office for president joe biden. this discovery appears to be very different from what happened at mar a-lago. we'll explain. >> this will be politicized. i imagine it has already been politicized by those on the right and the former president. >> we all know trump is a liar and a thief. we know that. so it's not that big a jump to say that he obstructed and he lied. we don't think biden is a liar and a thief so we give him the benefit of the doubt. >> there's no comparison here. >> this is what the kids would call false equivalency. >> sean: for two long years there was no oversight at all of the biden administration.

not from the democratic house and senate. not from the politicized doj. certainly not from the media mob. but that is all about to change. by the way, not a moment too soon. under biden, the irs has been targeting, get this, they've been targeting not the rich, as they always claim, but working and middle class americans at a far greater rate than wealthy americans. and make no mistake this will get even worse if biden gets his way and more than doubles the sigh of the irs with 87,000 new agents. more than double. of course, the irs will, of course, need all the help it can get to squeeze americans to pay for biden's out of control spending, but now not only is biden coming for your pay check, but he's also coming for your stove. you heard me right. that's right. the white house is now attempting to ban all gas ovens and burners. that's like half the country. maybe we'll get joe biden's stoves delivered to our house for free. anyway, predicated by the green

new deal, these radical extremists in the democratic party, they want to control the way you now cook. i thought michael bloomberg was bad when he took away my big gulp. they want to control the way you eat, the way you travel, the way you power your home, your car. what about your chain saw, your lawn mower? god forbid if you ever use a leaf blower. they want to control every aspect of your life, womb to tomb. seemingly, the only thing they don't want to control is our southern border. now, biden is even taking down barriers in arizona, all while building his own wall around his beach house. he thinks walls work in delaware. the president must be held accountable. and tonight there's one group of people that are now ready to put in checks and balances to his power and they are sitting in this room tonight. joining us now with more, his first television interview since
6:07 pm
taking the gavel, 55th speaker of the house of representatives, kevin mccarthy. [ applause ] >> thank you. >> sean: how was your week last week? >> it was entertaining. you know, i think i built a little name i.d. >> sean: you know, what's amazing about this to me, and i may be wrong, but tell me if i'm right. i talk to a lot of members. i know a lot of people in this room tonight. thank you for coming. some of you are not going to be on tv but you came because you wanted to support the speaker. but i have a feeling that 222 people agree on jim jordan's investigation, and that would be into whether the fbi's politicized the doj weaponized. >> they weaponized. homeland, fbi. we've watched them get out of control with no check and

balance. but last week was tough. but remember what my father always said. it's not how you start, it's how you finish. let me tell you what happened after last week. our very first bill, we repealed 87,000 irs agents. >> sean: you promised to do it. >> we promised to do it. [ applause ] we made our commitment to america, which you talked a lot about. >> sean: i have my own copy. >> do you know what else we did next? we just passed the church style committee that jim jordan will run looking at the weaponization of government. do you know what we just passed right now? select committee on china. we got 146 democrats to vote with us. pelosi would never allow it. they had an agreement with her. she backed away the night before. you want to bring jobs back from china to america. you want to stop them from buying our farm land. you want to stop them from stealing our intellectual property. this is where it all starts. this is only our first couple days in power. >> sean: so the power of the
6:09 pm
purse, which we'll talk about at length, the power of subpoenas. those are the two big powers you have. okay. let's focus on the investigation part. jim jordan, appropriations. >> we got james coburn. he'll be looking into the biden family syndicate. we know everybody in this room knows one thing. that joe biden lied. when joe biden said not one time did he ever talk to his son hunter about his foreign business dealings. we have photographic evidence and evidence of meetings that have taken place, and witnesses that will attest to such. >> got documents they denied us. do you know the president, 40 years of being elected, why do you think he went to the border? because we were sworn in. he knows what's coming. you've got to secure your border. we're going to use every power we have to make sure we protect this country and look out for the american taxpayer. >> sean: i think last week, at least part of it, was

republicans around the country were disappointed in past speakers. john boehner. i was disappointed in john boehner. i think that there were people that wanted the assurances. i had interviewed you enough. i had asked you repeatedly the commitments to america. i have my version right here, which we'll talk about. they wanted to know these investigations were real. what other investigation? >> you've got to hold government accountable. for the whole time democrats have been in power, all they've done is increased spending. why don't we have a check and balance? think of this. when the republicans were in power last time for eight years, do you know how much discretionary spending increased in those years? zero. they were in power four years. they increased it by 30%. it went from spending $4 trillion to $7 trillion. they've created inflation. we've got to get our country under control financially. how do we do that?
6:11 pm
energy policy. they made the price of gas go up but made us weak around the world. we will become energy independent. our border's not secure. but look what they have done to our schools as well. right? we're going to pass a parents bill of rights. also, when you think about this as well, when we look at checks and balances, you got comer, jim jordan. every single committee has an oversight committee. so every dollar matters, how we spend it, and we'll be looking at everything. no more blank checks. >> sean: you will vote on every appropriations bill independently, all 12 of them. >> yes. >> sean: we'll get to that. what other investigations? covid? >> why don't we know where covid started? they won't have any hearings on it. why shouldn't we know what happened in afghanistan those last two months? 13 gold star families have a right to know. but more importantly, this nation has a right to know so it never happens again.
6:12 pm
we should know what happened with china and where the money is going. we know the documents are there. i think the country has a right to know that as well. but the weaponization of what the fbi -- >> sean: fauci? >> that goes right into covid. we have our own ability to oversee that and look into it. >> sean: i have questions whether or not he was honest. what did he know? did our tax dollars to the nih, was it funneled through the eco alliance, whatever the group was called. were we giving money to the wuhon lab of virology where they knew gain of function research took place, where they knew coronavirus research took place? so we have that investigation. the afghanistan investigation. fbi, doj. the biden family investigation. now let's get to the issue of finances and money and spending. why don't you explain how this process now will be different. we're coming up against the debt ceiling vote and what that's
6:13 pm
going to mean. that might be the first test of how committed the republican party in the house is to really holding the line on spending. am i wrong on that? >> no, you're not wrong on that. think for one moment. one of the greatest threats we have to our nation is our debt. it makes us weak in every place that we can. we have never been at this high of debt and gdp except during world war ii. what are we funding? wasteful washington spending much of the time. so we think if you had a child and you gave him a credit card and they kept hitting the limit. do you just increase the limb or do you change their behavior? this is our moment to change the behavior to make sure hardworking taxpayer, that we're not wasting their money. you gonna tell me there's not waste out there? we're gonna look at every single dollar spent. we're going to audit it. we're going to make sure we balance our budget, make us stronger. >> sean: years ago connie mack from florida. we probably need the $0.25 plan
6:14 pm
because the debt has gone up so significantly. is that something you'd think about? >> we think about a lot. this is part of the discussion last week. it was healthy at the end of the day. we're stronger today to have gone through it. >> sean: i wish you would have done it before january 3rd. >> we tried. >> sean: talking to a lot of your friends, some of them in this room but i won't give them up. >> at the end of the day everyone found we had an agreement. that's what our rules package does. we also wanted to protect ourselves from the senate. they won't do their work. they won't pass any appropriation bill. then they try to jam us right before christmas with $1.7 trillion. i went over the senate to their lunch and said, we'll never take up an omni again. you have to pass your appropriations bills individually. just the way congress is supposed to work. >> sean: by the way, what they did in the senate, i believe as a conservative, that was a disgrace. they knew you were coming into power. >> why wouldn't they just wait? if they waited, we'd have a
6:15 pm
stronger hand. we wouldn't be increasing it. they increased the baseline where it just adds so much more to our children. >> sean: let's talk about a moment. maybe it comes sooner, maybe it comes later, on the debt ceiling. you know how the arguments will unfold. it will be republicans are shutting down government. i have been around this game too long. government never shuts down. essential services will exist. grandma, mom and dad, they're gonna get their social security check. medicare's not gonna be shut down. the military's not gonna be shut down. there might be people that get furloughed but odds are pretty high when they get their free vacation, they will get back pay. but that will be the argument. now the question will become a game of chicken. that is, republicans are shutting down the government and they're not willing to raise the debt ceiling. you're gonna say what? >> well, listen. it doesn't have to come to that. i have already spoken to the president. let's sit down now.
6:16 pm
let's find a way that we can both come together to actually curb the rising debt that we have. >> sean: you talked to joe biden? >> he called me the other day. >> sean: did he know who you were? >> he did at that moment. >> sean: ouch. come on, that's funny. you're not responsible for what i say. >> we'll work with anybody. we're all for one branch here. we control congress. do you know what? we have funding powers. we want to utilize it to represent the american public. we don't want to put us in any jeopardy, but we don't want to just have this run away spending. increasing 30% in four years. >> sean: how much time do you have before this debt ceiling? >> we have probably until summertime. >> sean: plenty of time. >> we're working on it now. we're setting the plan to actually put it on to a path to balance. that's what our discussions were all about. >> sean: what's the relationship now like with the leadership in the senate?
6:17 pm
you were begging them not to do with omni bus, go on with a continuing resolution instead. they didn't do that. they had the best opportunity. so how -- >> i want to empower the republicans in the senate. utilize us. schumer runs the senate, but it's a close majority. but why don't they work with us? i'm setting up every committee chair to work with the ranking republican there. let's talk with our bills. let's take their amendments, put them into ours and move them over there to empower them to be stronger. if i said, i told schumer do not send an omni bus here. if you don't pass the appropriations bill, we aren't taking it up. we'll pass our appropriations bill and then send the continuing resolution. we're not shutting down the government. we are doing our work. we're also putting a little cut on there like the penny plan. >> sean: using the power that was given to you by the american people.
6:18 pm
>> exactly. think about it. >> sean: and one of your commitments. >> in the election republicans that's strong, a nation that's safe, a future that's built on freedom and a government that's held accountable. >> sean: let me ask you this question. what did you make of the story about joe biden and top secret classified information? especially after what he said about president trump. especially after the raid at mar a-lago. especially after hillary clinton, do you remember the july 2016 press conference jim comey, no reasonable prosecutor would ever prosecute, way more top secret classified information. never mind the deleted e-mails
6:19 pm
and destroyed devices with hammers and the removal of sim cards. what does that mean now, in terms of all those democrats who wanted donald trump arrested almost immediately? >> they have to eat their words. they've gotten away with so much for so long. this was discovered before the last election. just like the lap top. they think they can control the media, lie to the american public, shut down if one media company writes about it. they think they are above the law. why weren't they raided? why didn't he in "60 minutes" say, i understand that because i bet i have the same problem. did barack obama have some of this when he was writing his book? did hillary clinton? all those people have been in government for years. president trump just ran for president. do you think he moved his own boxes? do you know what? they were locked away. biden's were not. how many years after did he have
6:20 pm
those? the fbi went to mar a-lago. they asked for a padlock. the padlock request was granted. then all of a sudden a raid. >> they think the law doesn't apply to them. they think they write their own laws. that's what infuriates the american public. america believes in fairness and honesty and that's not what we're getting. >> sean: we are just getting things started. on that note, we will continue with speaker mccarthy. he'll stay with us. we'll check with house majority leader steve scalise. one of the big investigations will be james comber and jim jordan. we're in washington, d.c. we're in the swamp. we're only here for 24 hours or less. we'll be back in just a short time. stay with us.

>> sean: welcome to fox's live. for the first time earlier this evening president biden addressed the controversy over classified documents found in his former office, saying his lawyers are cooperating fully. >> i was briefed about this discovery and surprised to learn that there were any government records that were taken there to that office. but i don't know what's in the documents. my lawyers have not suggested i ask what documents they were. >> the white house confirmed yesterday that a small number of documents with classified markings from biden's time as vice president was found at the private office. the revelation sparked a flurry of criticism from republicans and former president trump, whose florida home was raided last year in search of documents removed from the white house. i'm matt finn. now back to hannity. for all your headlines log on to
6:26 pm
fox news.com. >> sean: all right. as we continue tonight reporting from washington, d.c., the swamp, as i have been saying, house republicans now unified behind an agenda to hold the biden administration accountable on everything from the border to the origins of covid, the fbi, are they politicized? is the doj weaponized? and we continue now with the new speaker of the house, kevin mccarthy, along with steve scalise and elise stefanik. are you all happy with your leadership now? [ applause ] if not, i was thinking we could always hole another vote or two. >> i think i have had enough. >> sean: you've had enough. we've known each other for a long time, steve. this is to me a pivotal moment for the country.
6:27 pm
for example, i do three hours of radio and i hear from my audience every day. they are genuinely frightened about the economy, about energy, about open borders, all the things that is on that paper that kevin has. how realistic is it that we can get all of this done? >> sean, i think it's so important that the american people finally said enough is enough. look, there is a loft despair out there. families are struggling. the real problem is they did not see washington working for them because washington was working against them. the problems families are facing, from higher cost, high energy cost, open border, all created by president biden, the extreme agenda of nancy pelosi and chuck shumer. people said, we've got one opportunity to at least put some checks and balances and send people willing to fight for the families left behind. that was at the heart of the rules package. because before we can start fighting for those families, we had to change the way washington worked. that's really why the democrats were so concerned about these rules changes because they realize the party's over.
6:28 pm
the idea that you can write 4,000, 5,000 panel bills by the dark of night. those days are over. >> sean: that 72 hour rule is rock solid. >> single subject bill allowing members, all members not just in leadership, but rank and file members to be engaged in the process of going to bat for those families who are struggling. >> sean: add amendments during the appropriations process. >> do you know what's the difference now? this is probably more people in the public that's ever been in the capitol the last two years. we've now opened the doors. i want to invite everyone who is listening. if you ever dreamed of coming to d.c., come to d.c. you can sit in the gallery and you can watch us debate. you can see your government at work. because this is your house. this is your government. we have just now empowered you even greater than ever before. that brings accountability just to start out with. we want you to join with us. no matter what party you're in. but if you believe in securing the border.
6:29 pm
you want to be able to fill up your tank or have money left over for food. >> sean: your state of california, the notice they sent out, expect your energy bills to double from where it was last year. >> do you know why? what gavin newsom has done to california. he has shrunk our grid. then tells you you can only buy electric cars and can't charge it. >> sean: you can only charge it between certain hours. >> you'll pay 40% higher. there's a reason why, for the first time in the history of california, we are decreasing, people are leaving. it's the democratic policies that they have tried to put here in washington. fortunately, when the american public spoke here to congress, you now have a voice. you have a check and balance. we will stand up. that's our commitment. >> sean: congresswoman, i have known you a long time. one of the things i like to see, and i'm seeing, is more diversity in the republican party. to me, the democratic party is the party of coastal elites.
6:30 pm
they're not representing the men and women that make this country run and work every day, to me. i see the america first agenda, why i like it so much. it really appeals to all the people in this country that get up every day, work hard, play by the rules, pay their taxes, obey the laws, raise their kids and don't want their values contradicted by some teacher with an agenda. all of that is now on paper written down. how confident are you that all of this will get accomplished? >> i'm so confident. take a look around at these wonderful members. this is the most diverse class of republicans ever elected in the history of the united states congress. we have more women than were ever elected before, more hispanic members, more african-american members in modern history. this shows that our party is growing. i will tell you, the america first agenda is a growing agenda. we have never done better than we do today among hispanic voters. president trump and house republicans were a huge part of
6:31 pm
doing that. what's most important is the american people are going to judge us by the results we've delivered. look at this past week. we are already keeping your promises. on day one we repealed the 87,000 irs agents. we just -- >> sean: most had a target on my back. but go ahead. >> they were targeting hardworking americans. absolutely. hardworking americans like i represent in upstate new york. we are making good on our agenda. we're going to go through that commitment to america to show the american people what house republicans can accomplish and the results we deliver. >> sean: we have a room full of congressmen and women. is everybody on the same page with the commitments to america? everybody? [ applause ] is there anybody -- is there anybody -- you can be honest. anybody that has disagreements with it? nobody. okay. what about the investigations? are you on board for all these investigations?
6:32 pm
[ applause ] congressman jim jordan, james comer, they will join us with speaker mccarthy. they will preview the soon to be republican led house investigation. i want the details. you'll get them, straight ahead. my most important kitchen tool? my brain. so i choose neuriva plus. unlike some others, neuriva plus is a multitasker supporting 6 key indicators of brain health. to help keep me sharp. neuriva: think bigger.

>> sean: all right. we're in washington, d.c. the question is now, it's the biden family foreign syndicate. remember they use their political status to profit, peddle, influence zero experience hunter, house republicans vowing to investigate every single corner of it. all right. the people that will be leading two of the most important investigations, along with speaker kevin mccarthy. we have the house judiciary committee chairman jim jordan,
6:37 pm
house oversight committee chairman, jim comer. jim, you will be investigating -- you're both gyms. you will be investigating whether the fbi has been politicized and whether the doj has been weaponized. >> yeah. >> sean: what do you see so far? >> it's not a question of whether that's happened. it has. we've had dozens of fbi agents come to us claiming whistle blower status talking about how political things have come. we had a department of justice that treated moms and dads as terrorist. used the patriot act. school board meeting. fbi that paid triteer $3 million. $3 million to censor viewpoints. then it's been weaponized against the very people they are supposed to serve. the department of homeland security tried to set up a disinformation governance board, as if some federal agency should tell the american people what they are allowed to say, not
6:38 pm
allowed to say. that's what we're going to look into. the first step in stopping it is you have to get all the facts on the table for the country to see. then you go about stopping and making sure it never happens again. >> sean: let me ask you this. did the fbi, in 2016, in 2020, in the presidential election, did they put their thumb on the scale? i can give you detail. i know you have the detail. but for example, in 2020, fbi agents in early october, after they were warned not to use the dossier, they flew over the britain and met with christopher steel. they offered him a million dollars to prove the russian dossier was true. he couldn't claim his money. by the end of the month it became the bulk of the fisa application and it was unverified. they got away with it. now we have the recent case. they supressed all this information about hunter biden's lap top.
6:39 pm
did they put their thumb on the scale? >> i would argue with all the other elections as well. 2016 they found trump's campaign did what you just described. 2018 the mueller investigation. 2020 they supressed the hunter biden story. in 2022, 9d 1 days before the midterm, they raid president trump's home which is quite a contrast from what we learned yesterday how they treated president trump and what we learned yesterday, joe biden now has classified information. they knew about it before the election but somehow that didn't get made public. >> sean: this will be like a church committee moment? will this be that true reform, what should be the premiere law enforcement agency in the world, the fbi, will we be able to restore it to the greatness it once had? >> that's our goal. rank and file agents are good men and women. dozens of them have come and talked to us about how concerned they are. we know that. so that's our goal, our objective. we're going to do everything we
6:40 pm
can. we're going to do it in a way that's consistent with the constitution. but we're gonna do it because that's our job. they said today on the floor when we passed a resolution, they said mr. nadler said this is political and we're going to fight it tooth and nail. why? we're defending the first amendment. i thought you embraced the constitution like we all do. love the first amendment. that's what this is about. we're going to do everything we can to protect american citizens' first amendment. >> they should join with us not fight us. >> i agree. if they had integrity. >> we won't play like them. if they want to put somebody on the committee, put them on the committee. we're going to follow the constitution. jim will follow wherever the information takes us. but this hasn't happened since 1970. i think it's gotten so far out of control. you hear it from all, not just the american citizens. but the whistle blowers at the fbi are coming to us. >> sean: we're going to hear from us.
6:41 pm
whistle blower status. >> i think they will. frankly, a number of them have been retaliated against, which is not allowed to happen. >> sean: you're not allowed to talk to members of congress or the senate. >> day after we talked about it on your show, the very next day they issued a memorandum said these are the rules if you're going to talk to congress. that looks like an infringement on their liberty, their right to tell us what's going on in those agencies. >> they love this agency. they want this agency to be what it was. >> sean: friend of mine, retired from the fbi. he said it is not what i signed up for. that's how much it changed. >> exactly. >> sean: your investigation. you said something that was deep and profound. the fbi had the hunter biden lap top in december 2019. that's why the fbi meeting with big tech once a week prior to the 2020 election. oh, you might get disinformation about hunter. they could have verified hunter
6:42 pm
in five minutes, either him doing drugs or other things with other people, but i won't go into those details. but they didn't. you said the president of the united states. joe biden lied to this country, didn't he, when he said he never discussed foreign business dealings with his son? >> absolutely. we have produced pictures. we produced documents that show not only did joe biden know very well what his son and brother were doing with respect to influence peddling, but he was also part of it. we saw where hunter biden was requesting keys for office space from joe biden. there's several whistle blowers that have come to us and identified joe biden as the big guy. that he was supposed to get a 10% equity stake. that's a national security concern. the more that comes out about joe biden and influence peddling. there's a pattern here with communist china, with ukraine, with russia, with our adversaries across the world. you look at the bad decisions joe biden makes and this white house makes every day that has a detrimental effect on every
6:43 pm
american. you wonder is this president compromised? we deserve to have answers to the extent of the biden family influence peddling and what exactly joe biden not only knew, but what exactly he benefitted from. >> sean: $1.5 billion deal with china. we just learned in recent days now that we know about the issue with joe biden and top secret requests for that information. $54 million went to that university? >> think about how many more universities they are doing that to. think about what they are trying to influence across our nation. that's why the select committee on china is so important. we have to stop allowing them to steal from us, to take our intellectual property, to try to buy their way through america. >> sean: do you have any debt that joe biden knew that the family was making money -- for example, i never understood why the media and democrats didn't care about joe biden, literally saying, you're not getting $1 billion of taxpayer money until
6:44 pm
