protest on college campuses. >> i condemn anti-semitic protest that's what i've said i'm not going to deal with that and i also condemn votes and to understand what's going on with the palestinians. >> should the columbia university resident resign, should she resign? maria: your reaction. >> is consistent with everything that we seen from joe biden this far with his rhetoric with respect to israel and supporting jewish students but she desperately needs to do at this point, joe biden's policies follow his poll numbers and he truly believes in a two state solution meaning that he needs michigan minnesota and that's what he'll be pandering to, the radicals who believe these protest are protest because absolutely not they are inciting violence the first amendment does not protect his hate speech, these actions which are awkward needed we have to follow

50070 and three quarters, ups and pepsi reporting earnings ups be on earnings per share but missed on revenue. it expects to return to volume and revenue growth pepsi reported to double beat, look at the stock ups up 1%, pepsico down three quarters of 1% in general motors, jetblue, lockheed martin coming out this morning ahead of the opening bell and we will have all of those mornings, then tesla the big kahuna we will preview tesla which is reporting earnings after the close, more big tech coming on meta, google, microsoft out this week that will likely set the tone for attack and the broader market. joining me lp financial chief strategist quincy krosby, great to see you. what are your expectation for first-quarter earnings. >> the expectation that should be solid, the question where will the growth come from. if we see any deterioration in the guidance from big tech that's going to be difficult

because they represent a big portion of the s&p 500 needless to say and nasdaq. however, if they tend to get poor guidance as we saw with previous reports the question will be what takes the leadership in if the market pulls back new leadership can come back and replace it the question will that happen. a lot is riding on what we here this week and what we want to hear from the companies in particular how are they utilizing a.i. is it being monetized so they're actually making money on the products in the software that they are creating. the market has been fairly discerning about this in waiting to hear quarter after quarter you spending a lot of money, what are you doing and what do you see this will be extremely important for the overall market in the direction of the market

looking ahead. maria: what you expect in terms of the macro story there is a debate in terms of whether or not we need to see any rate cuts and then there's the feeling that we have actually seen the impact of the 11 rate hikes, that should probably be part of the guidance that were expecting for many of these managers when they do the conference call after reporting earnings, right? >> absolutely. there has been a suggestion as long as gdp growth is solid and the expectation that it will be solid that can underpin the market and also stronger earnings and guidance can help get the market through if we don't see any rate cuts at all. right now the expectation is one for september that's basically a long time from now given the market data day 24/7 focus on rate cuts and inflation. friday's number, the pce personal consumption expenditure

index is going to be increasingly important for this market to see if perhaps we see a little bit of a pullback in inflation and perhaps they could look at something earlier than september. maria: i want to bring in mark chapter we've been talking about the unlikelihood of the rate cuts for a while, look at the ten year treasury this morning. as you jump in this is the first reader first-quarter gdp coming out on thursday, the yield at 4.61%. >> if inflation continues to re-accelerate and there's no rate cuts i would expect that to inflict pain on the stock market but quincy i have to ask a question just a most challenging question i've had any clients asked me recently which is about forward looking returns. we always want to make sure were properly managing client expectation when they asked me that question how much do you think the market will earn every year for the next five or ten years you look back and you go

back to january 2009 in the market averaged an annualized return of 14% from january 2009 through today but that's on the back of growing the national debt from 10 trillion to 34 trillion and off of the back of having 0 interest rate policy. at some point the chicken has to come home to roost you have to pay the piper we can spend 3 trillion every more than were taking it. when you get a question like that like forward-looking returns what is your expectation over the next five plus years. >> the expectation, if we don't do something about cutting back on our deficit we just have to do it. at some point it doesn't matter until it matters and when it does matter it's going to be pretty nasty for markets but the fact is this is stockpicking, rotation and sectors and also remember what happens with this

you have to go to the market and find buyers for the debt and if they're coming in at higher yields what also happens the fed can't cut rates in the dollar also climbs higher, what does that do, 40% of earnings of the s&p 500 come from overseas it's not just separate from the market and separate from our economy it is integral to our economy. we have to be more cautious, more careful in more deliberate in creating the portfolios for clients. maria: how do you want to allocate capital having said all of that? >> right now were the canada reflation trade war looking at commodities were looking at energy, we have it abandoned technology because this week is that important for the market but the fact of the matter is, you are starting to see utilities gain and we've seen consumer staples gain. what's really important on the

do it through regulation. that's what this president doesn't understand. it needs to be through innovation. when the government picks winners and losers, consumers lose. he needs to be market driven and we need to encourage innovation we've done that in the state of georgia. when you see the success that we have had in bringing businesses and attracting businesses to our state it's because we build the regulatory environment that is conducive to businesses coming into a state that's why we've been the number one state to do business for the last 11 years. he needs to be through innovation not regulation. last year i went to houston, texas three times every time i went there it was the same message regulation, permitting. maria: he was talking about the money that came from his several spending packages, the inflation reduction act that did not induce inflation at all.

that they should have passed then it still sitting there. this weekend we passed another bill to aid israel and we need to do that, i stand with israel and we need to make sure that we are protecting israel in their right to exist. we have to make sure that putin is not successful in ukraine we all understand that but we have to be fiscal and responsible. i want to thank former president trump for suggesting i think that helped us to get this past. maria: what do you think about the senate in terms of passing this. this is one gigantic bill whereas in the house it was for separate bills that you all voted on. >> we merge them together when we sent them over there and i certainly hope the senate will do this. we understand were the looters of democracy in the world and we have to make sure that putin is not successful as i say.

we also have to make sure that were fiscal responsible. the 21st century security through protection through security act that had good things doing away with tiktok which we need to do, when the bill came out of the energy and commerce committee after we heard from cia, the fbi and the department of justice it was unanimous that tiktok needs to be done away with. the repo whack to give the frozen russian assets that will be good to. maria: that's one way to get the tiktok bill through the senate jam it in with the other three bills. otherwise it would've died in the senate on the tiktok bill. >> we have senate members who are in favor of it. i'm glad to see that. they are brainwashing our children. maria: have to move on to the anti-israel protest erected on college campuses across the country.

it's absolutely disgusting new york city columbia university stopping his professor from entering the campus to lead a pro-israel rally he was trying to counterbalance, they claim it's because the school could not ensure his safety. then you have donors saying i'm done patriots owner robert kraft stopped all donations to his all non- water columbia with anti-semitism on campus what can you as an elected official do about this, this is disgusting. >> it is disgusting, we need to send a strong message to the colleges and universities that they must protect our jewish students and protector students and we cannot and will not tolerate anti-semitism on our college campuses. you may get funding from the federal government as you well know and if you want to continue to get that you sure as better make sure you're protecting our students, all students whether jewish or whatever we stand with israel in the united states and house republicans stand with our jewish students as well. maria: what a complete shame to look at the pictures in america.

the money, shares down this morning pretty substantially. 8% in premarket trading. gm a double beat on the bottom and top line we see eps senate 262 that the actual number of sharon eps expectation of 215. a handy beat, revenue higher at 43.01 billion compared to 41.92 billion. that stock up 5%. another news primary day in pennsylvania, voters in the keystone state will cast their ballot in the last battleground state ahead of the november election, presumptive nominee donald trump will appear on the gop ballot with 67 delegates at stake while president biden democrat ticket has 159 delegates at stake. another race to watch the u.s. senate between incumbent democrat bob casey and republican david mccormick who are both under both running this

our u.s. troops, general assess the situation for us and where we are in terms of israel needing to go into rafah and the pushback from the administration and now hamas or its proxies re-upping the intimidation of u.s. forces. >> certainly i think it's likely a reaction to the prime minister of morocco here speaking to president biden in the white house and many of the militants were hoping would be the correct word that a president, prime minister agrees to u.s. troop withdrawal, that's not why the prime minister was here he was here to establish closer ties to the united states not separate with the united states. this is an expression of that frustration. if this continues to be a systematic program like they had before the new united states has to go after this as we finally

of gaza so they can be away from the conflict and set up temporary shelters for the mayor food, water and medical assistance that will likely take some time and that will unfold in front of our eyes. it'll probably be a couple of weeks we don't know for sure but that the sizable population to move. maria: will be watching that. but general i just feel like i would like to see a tougher stance from this the administration to support israel because all of the anti-israel sentiment going on on the colleges across the country, are they empowered when they see anthony blinken talking about sanctions on idf unit or president biden getting tacitly get a phone call that he had with benjamin netanyahu where he told him don't go into rafah or chuck schumer on the floor of the senate saying benjamin

netanyahu has to go in we need new elections redone the anti-israel demonstrations get empowered when you see the white house attacking israel and public site and in the middle of all of this. sheer survival in the fight for existence. >> there is no doubt about it. the iranians are running a major information campaign on behalf of hamas, hezbollah in the proxies in the region and for their own national interest. many of the talking points being used there are showing up on the streets at the universities as part of the protest movement and obviously the iranians and hamas and hezbollah given the concessions that the administration is making under pressure they put on benjamin netanyahu after all, a week prior to the iranian attack on

israel, this administration walked away and separated itself from the war aims i describe the israel has when it comes to rafah. that is a major victory from the people on the streets waving these horrific anti-somatic signs and other things that they are saying because they believe the getting concessions out of the administration, what is the result of that, more demonstrations, more demonstrations because they believe it is working and certainly this administration has changed its viewpoint quite remarkably from where was at the beginning to where it is now dealing with the situation. i think it's pretty shameful to walk away from what the idf and the prime minister were cabinet is trying to achieve. after all were talking about existential threat to the state of israel, that is what is on the line and you have to see it for what it really is.

maria: in the middle we hear anthony blinken talking about putting sanctions on the idf. where are the sanctions on china for all the bad behavior. it is stunning, the senate expected to take up a passive $95 billion or in a package as early as today that includes aid for ukraine, israel, gaza, the indo pacific region you wrote a letter to house speaker mike johnson was former secretary of state mike pompeo the letter last week urged the need for ukraine funding. tell us more about this. i spoke with the president of poland on sunday who made the same case saying we have to stop russian imperialism is. >> it was straightforward, just the facts on the table about what is actually happening and russia's ambition and why it matters to stop russia in ukraine and the fact that it can be done and we don't have to put any of our troops in harm's way to accomplish that.

it was very straightforward and it's something the leadership in the house wanted for its members to read and hopefully it had impact. i give a lot of credit to speaker johnson and how we step forward and put his job on the line in the parliamentarian skill sets with the hospital individually and merge that into one bill and send it to the senate. that was masterful and it was able to get the bill passed and i think you to be passed in the senate sometime today as well. it makes sense this is about the united states national security is not just about ukraine security or israel security and is not just about security in the pacific region. this impacts the united states national security and the economic well-being as well. maria: i don't think a tiktok bill would've passed on its own in the senate.

i don't think aid to israel would've passed on its own in the senate. maybe ukraine would have but putting it all in one is jamming altogether forcing a vote there. we will see and how long do you think that takes once it passes in the senate will the actual work began to send the eight over there, does that happen immediately. >> yes immediately. we have things packaged in new york, poland and were ready to move. the other things in the united states packaged and ready to go. once the president signs it things will start to move. obviously it always take some time but it's about as ready to go as it can possibly be. maria: no amendments, 26 billion for israel, 60 billion for ukraine, 8 billion for taiwan, tiktok et cetera for the rest. i was with utah senator mike lee on "sunday morning futures" and he said the 9 billion going to

gaza and humanitarian efforts, he thinks it's going right to hamas. >> that's nonsense it's not going to hamas. he said hamas is not going to allow them to get to gaza. >> i'm just telling you he's dead wrong. he is not going anywhere near hamas. the only thing that's going near hamas is bullets, that's what they get in there deserve it. maria: anthony blinken is writing about this human rights abuses committed by the chinese communist party and happy to see him point this out. he wrote this in the state department human rights report the report he released before days to make a three day trip to shanghai and beijing to meet with chinese officials, media chinese officials and were not getting anything out of it, anthony blinken writes this, the prc continues to carry out genocide crimes against humanity, forced labor and other human rights violations against predominantly muslim uighurs.

your reaction to see the state department human rights report days before anthony blinken heads to china again? >> this is a once a year report that i think the chinese are rolling our eyes about it. they may mentioned to him, they may not but we played two nights of the chinese in the president's policy is to win competition and were managing the competition. what we gotta do is win the competition. one thing that china reacts to his criticism and there's ample criticism on this issue. what about china's penetration of american civil society in a way that no other country has ever done in the history of the united states is comprehensive and far-reaching. lay all of that out there and continue to lay that. it is okay to be in competition
