>> thank you very much for being here this morning. obviously this is a big day. this is the day that the house oversight and judiciary committees will be deposing hunter biden. we are deposing hunter biden because he's a key witness in our investigation of president joe biden. our committees have unerted substantial evidence of president biden's and his family's corruption. the biden's created 20 shell companies, most of which were created when joe biden was vice president. and for anyone who doesn't understand what a shell company is, i'm talking to the associated press here, a shell company is a company with no assets or no known purpose. we determined the bidens had 20 shell companies. the bidens and their associated raked in over $30 million from china, russia, ukraine, romania, and democrat donors. 10 members of the biden family, including joe biden, either

participated or benefited from the family influenced peddling schemes. what was the biden family business? that's been a big question of this whole investigation. what was the business? biden family associates testified that joe biden was the brand. president biden has repeatedly lied to the american people he never interacted with his sons' associates. when joe biden was vice president. he spoke to his associate, his son's associates by speaker phone over 20 times. he dined with foreign oligarchs, and had coffee with his son's chinese associates. all while he was vice president. since you care so much about russia, we know that vice president biden spoke on the phone with russian oligarch elena and dined with her as she was funneling millions of dollars to his son. one associate said this phone call was set up by hunter biden

and vice president biden told her to be good to my boy. he also lied to the american people that his family never made money from china. hunter biden's work with the chinese communist party linked energy company began when joe biden was vice president. they even gave hunter biden a diamond during this time to entice him to work with the c.c.p. linked company. the bidens received a $3 million payment as a thank you for work completed when joe biden was vice president shortly after joe biden left office. we learned this in our interviews. what that first $3 million payment that we unerted in our very first bank mum dumb, first of four bank mum dumbs we have -- bank memorandums we published, what was theth 3 million for. they said it was a thank you for all the great work that vice president biden did in the

obama-biden administration as vice president. around the same of this payment, joe biden attended a cesc meeting where there were 10, 10cefc officials present, including chairman ye, who is tied to c.c.p. intelligence. then a few months later hunter biden threatened his associate when he demanded payment by claiming his father was sitting next to him in the room. that's the what'sapp message that our whistleblower produced to the ways and means committee. a what's app message where hunter biden claimed his father was sitting beside him when he was extorting money from the chinese national. shortly thereafter cesc wired $5 million to an entity controlled by hunter biden. later that same bay $400,000 was moved from the joint entities' account to a business account of hunter biden a few weeks later,

joe biden received a $40,000 check from that transaction. that's evidence that joe biden received $40,000 directly from the chinese communist party linked entity. this is public corruption 101. the american people see the corruption, but unfortunately many in the corporate media and democrats seek to cover up for the bidens. why is that? the american people aren't buying what the democrats and corporate media are selling. we will continue to follow the facts and hold the bidens accountable for their corruption. i'll be happy to answer a few questions if anyone has any. >> yesterday you put out a statement said this is not over. you will continue to interview witnesses. at which point typically during an investigation the biggest person, fish, whatever it be, the end of the investigation, at which point of this investigation done, when do you

think the committee to refer out the articles on the floor. will you tell people when it's complete? mr. comer: obviously we had a lot of interviews and depositions over the last six weeks. but with each interview we learn more information. we find more potential evidence that needs to be obtained. more hits. more accusations that need to be investigated. as long as we keep getting new information in we'll continue to pursue. i'm ready to try to begin to close this investigation. this has been a very difficult investigation. this administration has been very obstructive. they haven't been cooperative. i feel like we are having to battle the department of justice and the f.b.i. on a daily basis to get basic information. many of our witnesses that we brought in would be what i would consider hostile witnesses. but at the end of the day i think with every interview we have learned new information. and the basis of what we have

learned is that the bidens didn't have a legitimate business. their business was selling access to joe biden. the brand. what we learned is a little bit about the business model from three different associates that said that joe biden communicated with the people right before the closing, so he was the closure -- closer of the influenced peddling scheme. and that in at least two cases, one wcesc, one that hunter biden was leading, one of the influence peddling teams, and one with jim biden, the americorps deal that "politico" did a good job writing about. both times in their scheme, in their pitch to obtain money, they said joe biden was interested in an equity ownership stake and that joe biden might even, if the price was right, be on the board of these two entities. that's what we have learned

through these depositions and interviews. >> you said the bidens. that includes president biden. what evidence do you have directly linking president biden beyond a dinner, a letter, a coffee, on speaker phone. you keep saying the bidens. you talking about president biden specifically. what evidence do you have that he profited off his son? mr. comer: we have two checks. i don't cite "politico" very oven. they ran a good story for some reason they didn't put on their morning link. it was about the americorps help. $200,000 payment joe biden received from an influenced peddling scheme. he received two payments. we found this through subpoenaed bank reports. two payments. the first payment was $200,000 from americorps health. there is no question that money came directly from influence peddling. we have traced the money. frankly it wasn't hard. the second was the $40,000

payment i just referenced in my opening statement. $40,000 that came directly from hunter biden, the hunter biden shakedown where he said his father is signature beside him. the steps are called money laundering. that's what the steps are called. >> to the president of the united states. he's connected to the president of the united states. it appears when you say bidens -- mr. comer: the reason they sent it directly to joe biden, they sent it to the shell companies. that's were there are 170 suspicious activity reports from six different banks that alerted the treasury department that they feared their client, hunter biden, was money laundering. this is a very serious crime. the number of financial crimes that this family has been investigated for and no resolution to any investigation, every investigation was called off.

think about this -- the bidens have been investigated by the f.b.i. they have been investigated by three different u.s. attorney offices. they have been investigated by the i.r.s. they have been investigated by the securities and exchange commission. the list goes on and on and on. yet every time we were told what was said, they were told to stand down. there are two parts to this investigation. there is the actual biden crimes. and then there is the cover-up. >> what evidence do you have that either the vice president or as president joe biden used his political office in any way to benefit either hunter or james biden? mr. comer: we have evidence that joe biden met -- >> what specific actions -- mr. comer: i already testified >> how does americorps health, how does this chinese business helped -- mr. comer: let me ask you a question. you mentioned americorps health. does anyone in here question whether or not that was influenced peddling?

does anyone question that? no. >> i question that. there was no evidence that joe biden -- mr. comer: he got $200,000 from it. and the evidence that jim biden said -- listen. look, you can defend joe biden all day long. you can defend -- you can be on his legal defense team. kevin morris will probably pay your legal bills if you want >> you're not answering my question. mr. comer: i am. you don't understand what we have said over and over and over. joe biden took $200,000 directly from americorps health. >> he was a private citizen at the time of the $200,000, was he not? mr. comer: the $40,000 -- >> the $200,000 check -- mr. comer: do you have a problem that joe biden lied about this. that american health -- >> i'm asking you, what specific action did you take as a public official, an elected public

official -- mr. comer: with the -- calm down. calm down. it's ok. it's ok. all the angry liberals. they'll be all right. listen. he's had $3.5 million from the russian oligarch. there have been three sets of sanctions. she has not been listed on any of those sanctions. even though the most important issue according to joe biden in america right now ask giving ukraine another blank check. there are issues in ukraine that we are investigating. there are issues with the russian oligarchs. you look at the money they got from china. many of us believe that joe biden has a china first, america last policy. so when we issue the report, when we have the public hearing, many of these policy discussions will be debated. one more question. i can't hear you >> is there anything new

since -- [indiscernible] mr. comer: we have a lot of questions for hunter biden. specifically resolving around the 100-plus suspicious activity reports he got. specifically around what some of his associates have testified that joe biden communicated frequently with all of these shady characters who were wiring the family money. we have a lot of questions for hunter biden based on financial crimes that he was being investigated for by the i.r.s., criminal international crimes division. so we are going to try to get those questions in. let me close with this. this investigation's about public corruption. the american people do not want their public official, families, to peddle access to their leaders to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. you may think that's ok. but i can assure you the american people do not. i traveled from connecticut to arizona campaigning for members

of congress that are seeking re-election and running for election. and everywhere i go the same thing. thank you for trying to find out the truth. thank you for trying to stop this cottage industry of influence peddling. that's what this investigation is all about. the purpose of this investigation, if you go back to the very first press conference, was to get the truth to the american people. because the american people didn't have the truth. they didn't have the truth. the media, when we started this investigation, the laptop was russian disinformation. the bidens had legitimate businesses. joe never talked to any of the people that sent him money. none of this happened while he was president. all that have we have proven is false. we have been very effective in getting the truth to the american people. my job as chairman of the oversight committee is to prevent influence peddling from happening in the future. that's always been the purpose of this investigation. to create legislation hopefully bipartisan, that defines influence peddling and stops it from happening. we need to stop
