trickle-down economics. no, i mean democrat and republican presidents adhered to it for a long time. well, if they do very well, the whole economy will end it will trickle down. not a whole lot trickle down to my dad's kitchen table. not a joke. i always believed, you give everybody an even shot at this job, they will do it, and they will do it well, and you are the best trained, the best workers and the world. one example, i decided that i had to do something the first year because remember all those computer chips were not available for the cars? well, i got on a plane, and against the advice of many, including some of my own folks, i went to south korea. i met with the president of south korea and said, we invented the damn chip, we

refined it, we used to have 40% of the chips we made. i said, why don't you invest in america? they said, we will invest $100 billion -- excuse me, $50 billion invested by these guys. i said, why are you coming to america? two reasons, one, i gave you my word, and, two, you have the best workers in the world. that is not a joke. the best in the world. secondly, it is the safest place in the world to make my investment. look, we now have in large part because of you and organized labor, the strongest economy in the whole damn world. redo. we do. in the whole world. places coming down, jobs growing. we created a hundred thousand manufacturing jobs.

passed during roosevelt's time about if unions could organize. it not only said unions could organize, but it said we should encourage the union movement. it says one other thing, when the president of the united states is given money by the united states congress to spend, whether an aircraft carrier or any public event, they should do two things. one, this is what the law says, one, they should hire american workers. [applause] two, they should use. and you can make an exception, if you do not have tour, you could hire somebody else, but guess what? for the longest time, we did not pay attention to it. i pay attention to it. that is why we are growing.
