[silence]. good afternoon everyone prayed really good discussion about wrapping up over the next couple of months. i think there's a bipartisan and desire to get appropriation bill as senator shelby given extensive report about the work that is going on there. i will be talking to the speaker about that as well. i think of both sides think it would be better to do not appropriation spell before the end of the year rather than another short-term funding for it is hopefully we can get there. on the possibility of another coronavirus package, it seems to me that was 6.9 percent unemployment, and a third quarter gdp growth of astonishing proportions. that even though we still have
6:27 pm
significant economic problems, we need to think about if we are going to come up with a bipartisan package and about what size is appropriate. it seems to me that snag the hunger suffer months is still there. i don't think the current situation demands multitrillion dollar package. so i think it should be highly targeted, very similar to what he put on the floor both in october and in september and of course were all excited about the vaccine, the announcement yesterday. senator blunt knows not a lot about that. i think the country, has a sense of relief that we may be able to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel with regard to this awful virus. in the meantime, were all trying to emphasize as all of his

halves here in the senate since the first of may, until we get significant number of americans, the vaccine. we will continue to her mask and practice social distancing and try to be a good example for the rest of the country. >> thank you leader. it don't think my colleagues again for the privilege of serving with me for the working with this leadership team in the next congress. we have a lot of work ahead of us. when it comes to continuing to deal with the pandemic and covid-19 relief and advancing a pro- jobs progrowth agenda for the american people. i love the election this behind us. think we all operated i think released three takeaways from the election. one was that there was not a blue wife, that was not even a blue ruffle. i think the election results made it clear that a lot of with the democrats holster posters as in the media were suggesting was
6:29 pm
going to happen, did not happen at all. and secondly, was a rejection of the far left pelosi schumer agenda. and third, if you look at what happened with a single republican losing a house race, actually gaining season the house of representatives, not a single state legislature flipping in fact the republicans gaining ground in the state legislatures. quite confident that after georgia, we are going to be in the majority here in the united states senate. it really was a validation of the things that the republicans majority and republican party are doing to try to advance the furtherance of the american people. so haven't taken all 11 in purpose and had perspective, i think now we have an opportunity to move forward. the presidential race will be resolved at some point. but there is a lot of work that we have to do for the market people. and i look forward to working
6:30 pm
with our team and with our members. hopefully with democrats who decide they want to work with us. now that is been made clear that what they were trying to move forward, is not with the market people want to see happen here. but we can get some good things done and then we can deal on the ongoing crisis in front of us with the respective the pandemic by the end of the year. hopefully this authorization bill gets done . keep some things up to get to work next year for the market people. ... ... to invest in therapeutics in the vaccines. reporter: the chapter of the pandemic book on how you do

this. where at least a year ahead of her enemy thought we would have been february or march of this year, pfizer was a partner, a little different partner. every one of these partnerships is a little different. the pfizer deal was for the coffee are vaccines surely going to get there. feel guaranteed the federal government will distribute and you will by $2 billion of it, that is the deal with us. astrazeneca, but during a little differently. all of these companies plus about three more are all making vaccines as i get near the end of the trial. there will be 7 million copies of any of these vaccines available on day one. once you get that system started to begin to produce vaccines pretty quickly. i think the distribution effort has been well-thought-out. the states of all submitted a
6:32 pm
plan. open the states will all respond to the proposal of how the vaccine will be allocated to healthcare workers and first responders first. doesn't danger up having the worst results if they got the virus. nursing homes to be a good group in that. and then the essential employees of the country. the school bus drivers, the teachers, the daycare center workers, the grocery store cler clerk. the food processing employee, people who were in a lot of contact with other people. they can't get it they can't give it to you. so every day when you take these groups off the danger zone of the vaccine, not only they get safer but everyone else get safer. and by the time to get to the end of those groups you have about 50% of the american population would've had the ability to have the vaccine. and then we will see what
6:33 pm
happens with everybody else. and on those companies that we thought had a better chance of being successful than not, and they are not successful the american taxpayers are going to lose a little money on that. i effectively did not have a failure here we were not trying hard enough. we were not pushing the envelope forward enough. remember all these vaccine will be different than the others. they are all doing produce irrespective of what's happening anywhere else. again hope as we now move beyond the election discussion to a real pandemic response discussion that people are going to appreciate what happens both with the administration did on i would suggest more importantly what the congress was willing to appropriate money for. >> just a few things this afternoon. coming through this last election cycle which was very difficult for so many.

we actually saw some pretty incredible gains by conservative women. what we could say as this was the year for the gop women. we picked up seats in the house. and we are also gaining another woman and our republican conference, cynthia from wyoming. so it has been a really exciting year. help one that young conservative women will take a look of the makeup of congress and determine that there is opportunity out there as well. it's a very exciting stuff going on. second, of course as the leader mentioned hopefully we can get a covid 19 recovery package. think that is important. it's important to hear even when we are on the kentish while campaign trail we as iowans could step up and get a targeted relief bill done. there are still so many people who are hurting out across the nation. and that we would love to
6:35 pm
provide them relief. were hoping to speak a placebo that her caucus together, come up to the table and actually work with us on these efforts. tomorrow is veterans day. and this of course is an important day for me. i would like to remind all iowans and all americans to comment just to please say thank you to a veteran. someone who has worn our nations uniform in the armed services. and thank them for continuing to contribute to the great free society that we have. and the most incredible nation on the face of the planet. >> this is a third or fourth time the president has alleged election fraud without proof pretty did it during the 2016 primary. he did after the 2006 in general election. and he is doing it now. why do you continue to indulge him? >> what i am going to do here in the senate is concentrate on the business that we have
6:36 pm
left to do. which i mentioned a while ago. on this appropriation bill, maybe another coronavirus package. unless the presidential election of the various stages under the constitution, there will be apparently litigation. those cases will be decided. and then the electoral college will meet. and then we will have the inauguration. i'm going to concentrate on what we are trying to do here and the remainder of this congress. >> was there in your senate race or any senate race? i do not know. at that risk of bragging it wasn't very close. [laughter] [inaudible] >> the abbreviated transmission. after 2004, bush might've

contributed to the lack of security preparedness. my sign off on the requisites to let the transition begin. >> i don't think we are going to have an interrupted transition to whoever is the next administration. i think we ought to quit all the hand wringing. not act like this is extraordinary. we'll get to this. and we will swear in the winter on january 20th, 2021 for just like we have every four years since 1793.
